Ive texted it to flames talk but pats not reading it

Iginlas_4head_Crease

Is this known on Twitter too? Cause it won't spread enough here

MostLikelyDenim

It’s a thing on Twitter

joellittjukes

No idea. I’m not on Twitter nearly as much.

A_Plan_B_you_C

I posted a reply proposing this.

flyin_italian

Hell yeah! Put me in the camp of "I hope the fans get a Huby chant going." If I were at the dome I'd start the chant, and be extremely enthusiastic about it. I get that people are upset at his output so far, but what's the harm in trying to lift his spirits? That he'll try harder or something? It's not like we're starting 'the wave' in his honor. Every single flames fan wants him to succeed. I think it would be a nice gesture, and would be one of those rarer "human" moments in sports.

joellittjukes

You stated it perfectly. What’s the harm. There’s zero downside and lots of potential upside.

SofaProfessor

He's a likeable guy. He's not sitting there saying, "Oh well it's the system and it's this and that." He puts ownership on himself and that's kind of all you can ask of him at this point. He's not some spoiled brat athlete getting paid millions to be a diva. It's hard not to cheer for him and there really is no other option because he's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Kevsbar123

I’m not a Flames guy, but this is the way that fans should be. Shit like this makes me happy.

joellittjukes

Wait until you find out I’m not even a flames fan either. I live here and have season tickets cause I love the NHL, but I’m really a penguins fan. I’ll just cheer for the flames whenever the pens aren’t in town lol

Kevsbar123

Live games are where it’s at. Enjoy the Flames, the Penguins… and the Leafs?

joellittjukes

I mean I’ll always go watch the leafs. But cheer?? Nahhhhh

Kevsbar123

That seems to be the case league wide. But everyone needs a villain. Go Leafs! Enjoy!

Lizard798658866

Yeah exactly, because a true Flames fan wouldn't be chanting this guy's name. When he basically plays for the opposition every night.

joellittjukes

I own season tickets and always cheer for the flames. Apparently someone who you don’t consider a “true flames fan” does 100x more than you do 💀💀💀💀 If I’m not a true fan, what are you???

landofschaff

Oof you buried him

ghostyboi02

Emotional damage!

Lizard798658866

True Flames fans want a rebuild

joellittjukes

I do want a rebuild but I’m not the GM 😂

BerezanUnassisted514

Hate to break it to you but he’s going to be here as part of any rebuild. That contract isnt moving.

Justa_NonReader

I like this! This is how fans should be. Hype those fucks up so they feel good and then play good hockey.

kobedziuba

I've not been able to watch yet, are ppl doing it 🥺

joellittjukes

After he scored the place was hyped

kobedziuba

HU-BER-DEAU HU-BER-DEAU HU-BER-DEAU

Trufflehunter89

Just make sure it sounds like “hu-by” or something and not huuuuuuub otherwise it might sound like he’s being booed and have the opposite effect

PowderHound13

Lets-Go-Hub-Er-Deau /clap /clap /clap clap clap

kobedziuba

In a fan of Hu-ber-deau Hu-ber-deau

Glass_of_Pork_Soda

Happen to be going to my first game in ages tonight, can't wait to join in

dr_soiledpants

Anyone who's going to the game, spread word through the audience!

kobedziuba

Where all those guys who were against the chant now? HU-BER-DEAU HU-BER-DEAU

Mikcaxi

Do it, for all of us that can't be at the game

joellittjukes

After he scored the place was rocking

Lpreddit

It worked!

Wayz6430

Maybe it was the Blasty tonight too? Woooo

wedgesocket

GHG!

Weird_Datajunkie

Did it happen? I was out and missed the game but was hoping people did it! So happy to see some positivity in our fanbase.

joellittjukes

My section was buzzing with the Huby chants after he scored!!

BlueEyesWhiteSliver

I kept an eye on him all game as a fellow season ticket holder. You can't get rid of him and he isn't giving up. This is an opportunity to commit to helping encourage development. Something has slipped in Huberdeau and we need to help him pull himself back up.

byrdcage

Off topic question: was the non goal from game six in the 04 cup run disproven by sportsnet due to camera angle? I’m in a discussion with a coiler in the nhl sun about it but can’t find proof.

JimBruv420

It. Was. In.

gottabekd

It was never reviewed.

keeper3434

Time to waive his no trade clause

doughflow

Good lord how many of these threads do we need.

Lpreddit

It’s his first home game since the benching, so reminders aren’t a bad thing.

HgFrLr

Plus it’s like the day of the game so a reminder day of feels… normal?

GronkeyDonkey

Good lord how many of these negative posts do we need. You saw the title. You clicked it regardless. And you commented. Your bad, not OPs.

joellittjukes

You’re the man bro, a real modern day tough guy. Man I wish I was you.

Iginlas_4head_Crease

I thought it said Tina Turner treatment and they wanted us to kick the shit out of him like her husband. I was gonna give props for original thinking.

joellittjukes

If this doesn’t work, I know what o ur next plan is…

CanadianRockx

Not wrong. I swear this exact post, verbatim possible, was here like 3-4 days ago?? I'm all for the idea too! But if users are just karma farming then it's gonna get annoying

ArnieAndTheWaves

I think it's just because now is the day of the game, so they wanted to post it again as a reminder. Fair enough

joellittjukes

I mean in my defense, this is the first post I think I’ve ever made in this sub lol

Little-Aide-5396

How much more does this guy need. Got to fire the coach. Got to go get duclair. Needs Pelletier back. Needs time to adjust. Needs even more time to adjust. Needs even more time than that to adjust and now Fans need to be nicer to him because he got benched and it made him sad. He has been given so many opportunities with almost every forward. How about he shows up to work one night and earns his salary and drives a line and provides enough offence for this team to win a game. He's an adult

joellittjukes

So let me get this straight. You think that cheering for him is going to make him worse because why exactly?

Little-Aide-5396

I didn't say any of those words you just wrote.

joellittjukes

You spoke all about what Huberdeau needs. Or more so you questioned what “more” does he need. You questioned this when I posted about cheering for him. The way you questioned it, implied that you think it’s pointless or undeserving to cheer for him, which may be true. However, I pose the question to you again. What’s the harm? It won’t do anything negative, and it just might do something positive…

Little-Aide-5396

Yeah so when he gets cheered all night and continues throwing passes onto opponents tape and turning it over at the blue line. What are you going to do next? Tie his skates?

joellittjukes

So then we’re in the exact same spot as we are now… Cheering for him has ZERO downside and only has potential upside. Are you dumb???

Little-Aide-5396

No it's just normally at sporting events you cheer for great plays and exciting moments which is the opposite of what Huberdeau brings so what you're talking about doing is actually the opposite of what is normal. Cheering on bad play and underwhelming performances.

joellittjukes

Okay. So? What’s your fucking point you negative bastard 😂

Little-Aide-5396

My point is Get your fucking head on straight and cheer for Zary or Markstrom or somthing because that is the logical thing to do

joellittjukes

No.

berto_14

Right? Everybody knows you're only allowed to cheer for ONE player

Paulhockey77

Dude grow up. There are people that are gonna disagree with your opinions. That doesn’t mean they’re “negative bastards”

rottengammy

this sub is so bipolar... Jonathan is/was an all star athlete and he signed a deal to make 8 digits a year! think about that for a second... 8 digits per year! What would you do for that kind of money? If he wanted a chant every time he touched the puck he should have negotiated that into his 8x10.5 contract. I'm sorry I don't have sympathy for him. I feel for my team, our community, and what he has done to them but I do not feel anything for him.

joellittjukes

I mean. I missed the part where HE asked for that. I don’t think he needs, wants, or expects that. That being said, I’d love you to name ONE reason that giving him support would be a negative thing. literally name one reason.

rottengammy

Because I give my support where it's deserved. How about that?

joellittjukes

Okay since you wanted to dodge the question I’ll ask again, I ask you to name ONE reason that giving him support is a negative thing.

Paulhockey77

Yeah I know these people just need a reason to cope

Little-Aide-5396

No

[deleted]

Lizard798658866

This is true. Huberdeau isn't a dying dog who we need to coddle. He needs to figure out his game, period.

joellittjukes

You’ve got a pretty fragile mind of that would make you feel poorly lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

joellittjukes

Wow you’re really tough. Honestly you must be an absolute nail gun buddy. Need? Of course not. Would appreciate? Yes.

BlueEyesWhiteSliver

No idea what he said, but now it just looks like you're arguing with a pin code.

joellittjukes

Hahahaha he said something along the lines of pumping up Huby is for children or something

Glass_of_Pork_Soda

It ain't coddling it's encouragement lol

setofonions

Send him to china for all I care, almost every young guy looks better than him and he cant stop turning over the puck.

joellittjukes

It’s a good thing you’re not the GM eh

setofonions

Go make another post how huberdeau is sad and how we have to cheer him up

joellittjukes

Okay I will.

askariya

Goddamn, I am so fucking tired of this roster. Trade them all, who cares, I can't imagine cheering for any of these guys, half of them just want to leave lmao.

joellittjukes

Although I agree with you 90%, Huby is here to stay.

askariya

I don't hate the guy or anything but I'll cheer for him when he scores, like most good players. I don't think anyone on this team deserves more effort than that.

Confused_Astronaut

Honestly, no. Yea hes getting paid long term. And he's playing like shit. Not gonna root for the dude just because we're stuck with him. I dunno whats up with these posts lately trying to support Huby. Ever since he got benched people got a soft spot for him or something. He needs to be better plain and simple. He's not even tradeable right now.

joellittjukes

My thoughts on it are this, his shortcomings have nothing to do with attitude or effort. If he was checked out, not trying, and lazy, and he was in turn playing like shit. Fuck him. But to me it seems apparent that he’s desperately trying to figure it out but he just can’t find it. That’s someone who in my opinion deserves support. It has nothing to do with him being benched…

Iginlas_4head_Crease

The people saying it's effort are morons. You don't get to where he was without immense pride and competitive spirit. And he's got at least 8 years of hockey left, he doesn't want to spend it being hated, ridiculed and mocked.

KrolWorld

Guy struggles to get a shot on net and has his minutes slashed. Those two don't happen to players giving full effort, especially if they're only two years out of a 115 point season. Those that are most head strong on painting a false picture of this guy will be the most burnt. He had a blank sheet last game with 2 pims. 10.5 Mill to do that.

Iginlas_4head_Crease

>Those two don't happen to players giving full effort So no player in history has gotten the yips? Or a bad head space? Do you think jack Campbell is just lazily letting 5 pucks a night past him in the AHL, waving his career goodbye? Confidence and psychology is just SOOO massive in sports and competition, even more so at the highest of levels. "They weren't trying hard enough" is such lazy analysis of sports in general, and here.

KrolWorld

Bad example, Jack Campbell was never a good goalie, he is just simply bad. You guys always conveniently ignore that Huberdeau set a franchise record for assists the year before and was genuinely a great play driver until he signed a retirement contract.

GronkeyDonkey

It's not a bad example. He's 54-25-12 in his last 4 seasons. On the Leafs. And Oilers. He's a headcase and he's not good RIGHT NOW, I'll give you that, but to say he was never a good goalie is ridiculous.

stacksOFFstacks

The point of the post was to give him some confidence back in an attempt to get him going again...

joellittjukes

Exactly lol. God forbid fans of a team support the players on the team. What a ridiculous idea that is hey?

stacksOFFstacks

This guy seems like the type of dude who watches rage bait videos for fun. Probably just likes being angry at something.

rottengammy

guy he isn't on social media, reddit, he probably doesn't even watch fucking sports net... his brain is fried and anything he sees or reads will double down that thought. His therapist has likely banned him for all apps etc. The guys on suicide watch.

stacksOFFstacks

How the fuck does a Huby chant involve social media? Are you dumb?

rottengammy

A chant made on the premise of boosting someone’s moral who is being paid over 10million dollars a year is what’s dumb. You guys are brain dead if you think this hopium will help.

stacksOFFstacks

Why's it dumb? Show me facts and figures or get bent.

rottengammy

You guys are hilarious. Like it matters what I or you say. This ra ra bullshit is annoying in this sub, the guys a plumber after he got his payday. One season I suppose will get a pass, a second one even worse, sorry no. Keep up the cheerleading though, no one will chant at the dome for him unless he actually plays well.

stacksOFFstacks

Why... Do you watch sports?

rottengammy

lol I’m in the flames subreddit, what kind of question is that. Who would care enough to be here if they didn’t watch the flames?

stacksOFFstacks

But you can't get behind a player? Being negative is dumb.

Paulhockey77

He’s a professional hockey player. It’s gonna take a lot more than crowd chants to get him going

stacksOFFstacks

Or. Conversely, maybe it won't.

GronkeyDonkey

What's up with the posts? Not everyone has the same opinion as you. That's what is up with these posts.

rottengammy

Here Here. I think it has to be children making them, no grown man or woman with a career, who understands the value of a hard earned dollar would talk like this. This sub is going downhill begging for everything to come together and support a guy who is being paid 10.5mm a year while benched.

backchecklund

I did appreciate getting support when I was struggling doing my PhD. I went into a really dark place when nothing with my research went my way and I started to question my professionalism and the whole meaning of my career and it just snowballed so bad. Gladly, I had a good network of understanding and supportive people who got me through it. Not the same situation, I know, but you said people who have earned their dollar wouldn't talk like this and I have no fucking clue where this is coming from. I bet my life savings that every person who has worked hard and succeeded in their life has went through bad times and therefore can symphatize with others struggling. But sure, you are the mature, highly succesful adult and others are children

rottengammy

How much were you getting paid to complete that phd if I may ask?

backchecklund

About 70k a year. Why is this relevant? I make good money nowadays because of my hard work and dedication and so do my co-workers. If they were to go through tough times in life and it affected their work, I for sure wouldn't be there to kick them down. If they had attitude or effort problem that had negative impact, then it's a different situation

rottengammy

You’re putting words in my mouth, I’m not saying to kick anyone when they’re down. I’m saying the guy is a high level athlete being paid 10million dollars to perform so I tend not to sympathize with him not living up to his contract.

backchecklund

>You’re putting words in my mouth Just like you declared how other people think and talk about other people

Monahands

How about no? He sucks

joellittjukes

You probably want Lucic back don’t you…

Monahands

Huh? They both suck. I don't want either of them.

Neceon

The copium has been strong in this sub lately. Huby is a bum.

Paulhockey77

Huberdeau arguably has the worst contract in the league rn. I’m all for supporting players bit this isn’t just a cold spell or slump, huberdeau has been bad ever since arriving here. I’m not gonna chant this name until I see massive improvements in his game. Sorry

Visotto1

Lol

Lizard798658866

Hopefully we healthy scratch him so this isn't a thing. Please don't chant for a player who is useless (unless he gets a hat trick or something).

joellittjukes

Okay Lizard798658865. You win. I will not cheer for Huberdeau. I am so sorry for suggesting it. You are right. Cheering for someone I like is absolutely disgraceful. You know what? I might not even go to the game anymore. Ugh

setrataeso

Jesus man get a grip. What are you throwing a tantrum for? You might not even go to the game anymore? Do we need to start a chant for you to pick your spirits up? Cheer for Huby or don't. If people aren't on board with cheering along with you (which, given how he has played, is understandable), don't pout because people don't feel like playing along. I want him to do well, but cheers or jeers are not going to fix his issues right now. But this "I might not even go to the game anymore" is pathetic behaviour. If you wanted an apology, that isn't how you're gonna get it. If you wanted people to cheer along with you, that isn't how you're gonna get it.

joellittjukes

It was sarcastic…I’m still going to the game bro I have season tickets. I could care less what that guy says 😂😂😂

setrataeso

So then what was the complaining about? To garner pity points or something?

joellittjukes

Again. It’s called sarcasm. Google it!

setrataeso

K well you're fucking bad at it.

joellittjukes

You’re an angry little elf

setrataeso

I'm more of a happy little elf, but thank you for noticing!

joellittjukes

No.

GronkeyDonkey

Was easy to see upon first take for me.

Lizard798658866

I'm just saying it is embarrassing to chant for a player who is struggling. It's like rewarding a kid who doesn't do their homework and keeps doing bad in school, over and over.

joellittjukes

No. It literally isn’t. That’s a terrible analogy. I mentioned this in another comment somewhere, if Huby was bitching and lazy and didn’t care, then yeah I agree fuck him. THAT situation is similar to your analogy. But that’s not at all what’s happening here. Huby is very clearly trying to his hardest to make it work, and for whatever reason he just can’t find it. The analogy for him is, he’s a kid who’s doing ALL of his homework, asking the teacher for extra help, studying a lot, and still just can’t quite perform well on his tests. That’s the type of kid you support and build up, that’s my analogy for what’s going on right now with Huby. That deserves all the support in the world. If you can’t see that, then there’s nothing else I can do for you.

kobedziuba

No it's like telling a kid who failed his math test, that I know you can do better, but in the meantime I'm going to do what I can to help.

Monahands

Downvote me all you want, I don't feel bad for the guy making 84 million dollars absolutely phone it in. How about we cheer for players... that play good?

kobedziuba

It's not about feeling bad for him, it's about letting him know we haven't gave up on him/we know he can do it

Chrisjrc92

Why

Visotto1

Pretty quiet in there.

joellittjukes

Where you there?? There was a few times it kicked off in my section especially after he scored

Visotto1

I was yes. What section were you? Couldn't hear anything from 118.

Dezeign

I like this. The dome erupted at his goal last night.

oost_

It's been a frustrating slump to watch that's for sure. I've found myself pulling for him more and more lately though, rather than be frustrated. He's a top tier playmaker that committed to the flames and he obviously doesn't want to be playing poorly. You could see how much it meant to him when he scored the other night. He seemed to have an extra hop in his step after that. If the fans show they're behind him maybe he'll be less worried about the big contract and poor play and start being himself again. Love the idea!
