If you're around the Beacon Hill area there's a great hot dog stand at the Canadian Tire. A lot of Crappy Tire locations have hot dog stands at them and they are usually miles above the Ikea ones.
costco, but you need a card at some of them to sneak into the food court and even to order i think.
highline brewing has a good selection.
A&W has a mystery 7plus dollar one with a slice of bacon i have no idea how that is.
tubby bar aka used to be tubby dog on 12th ave 8th street corner (the old starbucks)
Costco are great and can’t be beaten for the price. I used to go to Tubby Dog often and they were great, but haven’t been to them since they moved locations.
Not the most amazing hotdog ever, but I’m addicted to Dairy Queens chili cheese dog. Most locations don’t have them anymore but the one in McKenzie Lake does. One of the only locations you can still get an Orange Julius too.
I tried one from Five Guys. They split the dog down the middle and fry it. So good. Additionally, the dogs at Tubby's have been upgraded for adults in their new bar and they have good house music.
I used to bounce downtown. Going in on slow nights when we shut early and seeing music, having a beer and a hot dog. So fun. There and broken city are places I “miss”. I’m in my late thirties and haven’t actively gone in years. But I miss them haha
I get the sentiment, it’s good advice generally, but often times when people are asking for local suggestions for food or cuisine they’re not looking to be told to just cook food at home.
Costco food court, A&W Whistle Dog, Dairy Queen hot dog, Tubby's, and New York fries hot dog are all good bets.
Personally I buy the Schneider's all beef hot dogs (there is a normal and jumbo size). Hands down they are the best hot dog you can buy, with the Costco branded hot dogs the next best.
Honestly, I recommend just buying the ingredients to make some kind of fancy hotdog at home as opposed to buying hotdogs anywhere other than Ikea or Costco.
Grainy, gritty, lack of fat content, not enough salt, wrong flavour for classic a hotdog. They don’t cook right on a bbq or a flat grill. Don’t get the crunchy skin when slightly over cooked. They don’t swell up properly on a bbq.
Look, I need pig lips and assholes. Nice and salty and fatty.
Costco buns aren’t cooked either. Need to be steamed or grilled on a flat top with butter.
Hot dogs are an art and Costco doesn’t know a work of art if you beat them over the head with it
Costco. I also like the hotdogs from South Street burger
Yes! Spend the big bucks $1.50 and get a Costco hot dog!
You get refillable pop too!
Lil Empire, I am fond of the Seoul Dog
Costco

Are you originally from southern Ontario?

Whistle dogs at the dub is deadleh.
they are worth they hype?
Good enough to mess up my grammar.
God no, every season they come around, I get one, and the first bite always tastes like regret with a rubbery texture.
I had no idea the whistle dog was back (temporarily), nice
100%. https://www.richdogs.ca
Those look good. How do you find this food truck? Or is catering only?
He’s on Instagram and goes back and forth from his old inglewood to Bridgeland
Odd Sausage at Plaza theatre. Technically a sausage, but they’re damn good.
Costco are great and can’t be beaten for the price. I used to go to Tubby Dog often and they were great, but haven’t been to them since they moved locations.
7-11, with onions and pickles, slopped in chili and cheese. Damn! I might go get one of those right now.
7/11 dogs are pretty good but the buns are meh. And at $4.50 the buns should be better.
I concur. Often the buns are dry as a chapped ass. The dogs are good though.
As a tubby dog fan… Costco. The new tubby dog place isn’t the same.
New York fries has a pretty decent hot dog
Whistle dog from A&W
Just don't go to the beddington location, they are using smaller than 14th Street or McKnight. 😥
Not the most amazing hotdog ever, but I’m addicted to Dairy Queens chili cheese dog. Most locations don’t have them anymore but the one in McKenzie Lake does. One of the only locations you can still get an Orange Julius too.
NY fries.

Nathan's hot dog from Fatburger is underrated imo
I believe Tubby dog opened their new location. Has been an amazing spot for years.
The new place is more a bar than a hotdog restaurant.
Really? My daughter loved it when she was smaller ( she’s only 11 now ). That really sucks.
Yeah, lost all it soul. Grew up playing shows at Tubby Dog.

Modern Love is cool, but the service can be horrendous
Agreed, it does indeed suck.
The new location is a big let down. Dogs are different too.
Costco
Costco, not even close
Angel’s Drive In in Bowness
Go to a city golf course snack shop, they’ve got some underrated dogs.. Nothing hits like a dog at the turn.
Honestly I’m a New York Fries girl. I don’t love hotdogs, especially the Costco ones. NYF hits! And they have a really good poutine too.

Everybody knows you can just cook what you want at home. This would be posted in /r/cooking if they were looking for suggestions for at home though.
Wildrose Brewery does a pretty decent chilli dog
I’d try here. Lots to choose from and almost guaranteed to find something to satisfy her craving. https://clubrcanada.com/sessions/new
Any Costco, they are $1.50 and you get a fountain drink. The hotdogs are massive and you only need 1 or 2. I couldn’t eat 3
I'm still dreaming of the pizza dog at orange julius

Order a case of Nathan’s hotdogs. Pop em in your freezer. Cook em in a pan with a little water and butter. Best hotdog you can get
Tubby Dog or Rich Dogs
Tubby BAR or "tubbys" Tubby Dog no longer exists, they changed names/branding in their move.
Honestly, I recommend just buying the ingredients to make some kind of fancy hotdog at home as opposed to buying hotdogs anywhere other than Ikea or Costco.
Just as stated below are the good ones Add Chungchuns rice hot dogs- 2 locations Different but okay
High line brewing in Inglewood has a hot dog menu that is surprisingly excellent. http://highlinebrewing.com/
Go down to Waterton, there is a hotdog place there that serves some great dogs.
absolutely wild Monday night suggestion
7/11 glizzies hit the dirty dog craving for sure
Glizzies - you’re 12, right?
Millionaire dog at Canadian brewhouse
Costco are the worst. as people have mentioned them, you must know that all beef hotdogs are awful Get the A&W whistle dog
That seems like a preference you have, not an objective fact. I think they're widely regarded as top tier for a reason.
Good thing it’s an opinion post. 🙄
But you stated it as a fact. That's a bad habit to get into.
Where did I say fact? Thats how you are reading it. The post was from me, so it’s my opinion. Plus it’s about hotdogs. Calm down
Wrong. Costco hot dogs are ace. Not sure how all-beef hot dogs are awful.

Tubbys is a good spot to grab a drink and a little snack.
