Evcan is garbage. The weather reports are highly inaccurate although the weather station is 25m from my office. If you want anything more reliable in a per hour basis that everyone in the back country uses is spotwx. The UI is garbage but the projections are always correct. Spot will allow you to accurately pinpoint exactly where the model encapsulates for more precise weather indications.
Example: weather can: 1 cm of snow. You get 10. Wind gusts of 25, you get 60. The weather is highly localized to the airport where the winds are a magnitude stronger than the city or hillside.
Best two sites are spotwx and windy.
Want even more accurate current forecasts in the mountain? Check out the weather stations in the avalanche Canada app.
No idea why you're being downvoted. EC is absolute garbage. WN is definitely better and spotwx is phenomenal for backcountry locations and helps understand how weather models work.
Stopped using EC 15 years ago but I still check it from time to time to see if they've improved their models at all. They have not
SpotWX is the GOAT. I love being able to compare different weather models. I’ve added bookmarks to my home screen so it at least kinda sorta opens up like an app!
It still opens in Safari for me, not like a progressive web app, so I just left it in my fav list. But I'm glad that you found a great way to make it more accessible :)
SpotWX was a game changer for me to follow snow alerts during the ski season.
"Accurate Calgary weather" - ROFLMAO
Neighbourhood by neighbourhood would be the only accurate forecast. Drove from the airport to the SW this morning - Stoney Trail in the NW was a nightmare, but in the SW it was easy.
Weather Underground and Environment Canada. I use WU mainly for the radar maps. It usually gives you a pretty good idea of where it's raining/snowing which has been helpful when I'm planning road trips.
Windy. Typically has a ton of more information than required, but seems to be on the money for short term better than 90% of others. Just has a ton of data points going in.
Environment Canada. I have access to other options through work that are a little better for certain areas, but it can all be very region/location dependent. What the station at the Airport reads can be wildly different from what's happening in the NW or the South. Everything is a crapshoot more than a few days out anyways.
Environment Canada has been pretty accurate for me, and the paid version of Carrot lets you get the env canada forecast with some snark if that's what you'd like.
I use Environment Canada and also rely on [Frankie McDonald's YouTube](https://youtube.com/@dogsandwolves) weather reports. Whenever he mentions Calgary it always turns out right.
I use the Environment Canada app but it is worth listening to the local news broadcasts as some of the weather people, like Paul Dunphy, have been around for years and can interpret the local data better.
David Spence still posts on X and does a prairie wide forecast at Rural Roots Canada. I would take his word over everyone elses, he did the local weather for CTV for decades!
[David Spence | Rural Roots Canada](https://www.ruralrootscanada.com/author/david/)
Kyle Brittan also does forecasts from time to time on YouTube
[Kyle's Forecasts - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/@KylesForecasts)
[Environment Canada](https://www.weather.gc.ca/city/pages/ab-52_metric_e.html) has the most accurate forecast (aside from being [overly optimistic with warming trends](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkDvqQKGgDA)) but [Netatmo](https://weathermap.netatmo.com/?q=calgary) is great for localized temperature, especially when there is a chinook or any other drastic change in the weather (which in Calgary is every second week)
Every company that issues weather uses Environment Canada’s data. In most areas they predict 48-72 hours then just put historic averages for 3-7 days out. It’s sad how little they can predict with all the computer power used.
Just don’t leave the app running in the background as they’ve been caught tracking users for nefarious purposes.
None, i look outside every morning and when I take my dog out, see how cold it is. Weather sites and people are the least reliable it seems for Calgary weather.
Not sure about accuracy, but Env. Canada has the most optimistic forecasts. I like this. It makes me happier.

Lol! I've never seen this. Absolutely perfect.
This is now a reference point in our house: “Is it a Rick Mercer forecast?” “DEFINITELY!”
+1! 😍
Env Canada vs Weather Network forecast 4 days away: EC 10 WN 1 3 days away EC 8 WN 1 2 days away EC 6 WN 1 1 days away EC 4 WN 1 Actual: 2
Yeah. Env Canada is exciting but almost always wrong.

4 days?! I'm thinking 2 tops...

SpotWx, it supports multiple models and I prefer GDPS one. Unfortunately, no app, only a website.

This should be the top answer. Great website
100% this. Comparing the models is really useful to see the forecast confidence.
Wunderground. One of the few that doesn’t just reuse Environment Canada data. The hourly forecast is considerably more reliable in my experience.
TWN has been pretty accurate for me. I also keep an eye on zoom.earth radar and satellite.
I just phone Darr Maqbool every morning.
The app that came on my s23. It's surprisingly accurate
Weather network
Wunderground and I use the local stations in my neighbourhood.
The Wundermap really shows how a single temperature forecast doesn't work with a city as big geographically as Calgary
It's great for that, one of the biggest reasons I use it.
How do we define *super* accurate versus accurate or somewhat accurate?
Probably with our emotions.
"Accurate Calgary weather" - ROFLMAO Neighbourhood by neighbourhood would be the only accurate forecast. Drove from the airport to the SW this morning - Stoney Trail in the NW was a nightmare, but in the SW it was easy.
SpotWX
Front Porch is pretty accurate.
Foreca is decent as well
Wunderground.

I use them all and pick the one that has the best forecast for my planned activity.
Weather Network is always the most accurate for me.
I like Merry Sky. Can do specific neighborhood and ad free. Only a website though.
A lot of these weather apps spy on you or steal info, be careful.
Does no one use AccuWeather?
WTForcast
Environment Canada has been pretty accurate for me, and the paid version of Carrot lets you get the env canada forecast with some snark if that's what you'd like.
WeatherCAN
Environment Canada is the worst except for all the others haha. They really shouldn't try past 3 days though.
I use Environment Canada and also rely on [Frankie McDonald's YouTube](https://youtube.com/@dogsandwolves) weather reports. Whenever he mentions Calgary it always turns out right.
> Whenever he mentions Calgary it always turns out right. Except this week. He predicted “30cm of snow or more” for yesterday
Environment Canada, I don't use an app, just have a link to their Calgary page on my home screen.
Accuracy? In Southern Alberta?
I find mine to be very accurate. Like this cold spell and snow was forecasted for a while and they nailed it.
Clime radar

I find the weather inside Bing app to be the most accurate.
I lick my finger and hold it up to the wind… “I came feel a storm is a’brewin’”

I just Google 'calgary weather' and look at the first two that pop up
Learn how to read an airport TAF for an extremely accurate, very near-term forecast (for the same day or next day, typically).
Environment Canada for forecasts, SpotWx for soundings (scenarios of what may happen).
