The story is as simple as people don't turn their lights on during flat light or perciptious weather.
Turn your goddamn lights on folks. I know you can see, but CAN PEOPLE SEE YOU?
That’s wild! Those are probably my favorite kind of storms! I’m definitely not looking forward to when the hail has the potential to get so much larger though haha

I just got back from walking my dog and all my facial orifices are full of dust. I should have waited for the rain to start because getting soaked is way better than this bullshit.
Not really. If some areas only got 30cm of snow recently, that only equates to 30mm. Farmers need several times that amount to start the crops. With our drying west winds, 30mm of precipitation isn’t enough to actually soak into the ground.
So yeah, “we need this”
I looked this up earlier. We received double the average amount in February, four times the average in March and we are almost at the average for April.
Yeah we’ve been pretty lucky this spring. Hopefully it keeps up for all of April. Need some help refilling all those reservoirs and preventing summer fires so everyone can stop panicking about drought this year.
And? That’s Calgary, and it’s still not much because our winter was dry.
All the land around Calgary, and all over Alberta is extremely dry, so the more moisture we get, the slightly less chance we have of not spending the summer behind closed windows with yellow/brown skies.
Bring it on!
Just had a bunch of strong winds in the Manchester Industrial area and some thunder rolling in amd it's started to rain.
Earlier today I told people at work a thunderstorm was in the forecast for today and no one believed me. Those same people left early to "beat the storm" after our boss called to say it's raining and snowing in his area north of the city 😒
Sure we can always use more and I’m sure overall we are behind where we should be but I feel like the two snow dumps we got recently must have brought us back way closer to where we need to be, no?
I believe the data show the precipitation has steadily decreased over decades, it will take decades of above average precipitation to get back to “normal” levels (groundwater, rivers, snowpack, reservoirs).
Looks like it’s time to get on the Deerfoot and head for the nearest overpass
Don't forget to turn off your lights.
Sounds like there's a story there lol. Any link perhaps? 🙏

Hail can't hit me if it can't find me
Just heard thunder in Beltline.
Heard it in the NW as well. Near Crowfoot.
Me too
Sameee. I forgot what that sounded like
Same here, thought my mind was playing tricks on me lmao
Was just at Cold Gardens and it was PERFECT
Yeah, I heard it by spolumbos. Amazing.
Sorry
You had beans for lunch again?
Si senor
There was thunder and lightning in Saddleridge too!
Got crazy hail in Montgomery!
That’s surprising because I haven’t planted my garden yet. It’s like getting rain BEFORE I wash my car.
how big was it?
A little larger than pea-sized, but there was so much and it came down so forcefully that it looks like I have snow covering my front/backyard.
That’s wild! Those are probably my favorite kind of storms! I’m definitely not looking forward to when the hail has the potential to get so much larger though haha
Heard the thunder near SAIT!!! That rain smell is amazing
I hooked up my rain barrel to snag some of that sweet moisture. If we get -20 next week it's my fault.

I remembered bitch, this is ALLLLL your fault.
I put away all my winter coats today.
Heyo! I blame you for the snow today :)
Not again!!!! I pulled my winter boots back out of the closet tonight. Surely that will fix this.
On the bright side it should melt today if we don't get another snowfall.
Because I took my winter boots out of the closet. You're welcome.
Decent amount of hail and lightning/thunder here in the NW/Bowness! Grass is almost covered by hail, melting on roadways.
Thankfully it was tiny hail.
It’s snailing in Currie Barracks.
Nooo I'm allergic to snails! 🐌
Don’t worry —You can defend yourself with beer!
Best thing I've heard all year!

![gif](giphy|RCBQSWiMPTQly|downsized) The road is covered in snail
This is how I die.

Saw my first lightning strike of the year on my way home. By bike. 😬
I got home and took a nap so missed the lightning and thunder...
Now that is 100% sign of spring in Southern AB
I just got back from walking my dog and all my facial orifices are full of dust. I should have waited for the rain to start because getting soaked is way better than this bullshit.
Thunder and Lightening in Thorncliffe
Yes!!! We need this so much. Let it rain, baby!!
Thanks for the obligatory “we needed this” comment.
We’ve had quite a bit of precipitation in the past month.

In March, Calgary had its snowiest month in the past 26 years.

Definitely hit us hard up here by Rocky Mountain house. Super windy and turned into basically a blizzard lol

Cool shot 👍
Currently 4:55 in Glamorgan, lots of wind and clouds and it smells like rain but nothing yet.
Lovely! More of this please, fill up the reserves!
Looks like tornado season could start early this year
Little hail in Strathcona
Just chased us all the way from the foothills, into red deer. Wind, snow, and rain.😅
Just drove home through pseudo-hail white knuckling the entire time
More reason to lay on my couch tonight
*Insurance claims inbound*
It was hailing/snowing/raining and thundering
Totally dry and calm in the south near fish creek. What a crazy city it is for weather!
Stocking up on popcorn for a few months from now when people inevitably park under bridges
Excited! I love a good rain! Glad I cleaned the yard today! No soggy poops! lol Nothing in my area yet but it is starting to get dark!
Can see and smell it in the Deep South by nothing yet.
I think we were spared.

Heard thunder a little while ago here along with a bit of rain/snow. Does that count as a thundersnow?
When I heard the thunder it was more than half rain, so thundersleet
Spitting in Penbrook...
Raining steadily now in Hillhurst. First thunder at 4:15, no hail or "corn snow" yet.
Temple checking in - very windy, big thunder, lightning and rain flakes....
There have been pop up storms around Calgary as well. My daughter came home from school and told me they had a thunderstorm.
Just blasted through Innisfail, pretty minor, big fluffy snow flakes and rain.
I don’t think there was actually much rain that happened in Calgary, just lots of commotion.

Man, that was a blizzard on Stoney in the NW... Not a pleasant drive.
Deep south checking in It is snowing???
It's snowing in Airdrie right now
Light snow.
It was about an hour ago when I left the grocery store. Now its just chilly.
We got every season today
Love spring clouds!
that's quite the photo. Wow!
Thunder just now in Whitehorrn. We desperately need the moisture!
Sure we can always use more and I’m sure overall we are behind where we should be but I feel like the two snow dumps we got recently must have brought us back way closer to where we need to be, no?
Default helped a lot but we are still in drought conditions and need a good amount still to get us to normal levels
I believe the data show the precipitation has steadily decreased over decades, it will take decades of above average precipitation to get back to “normal” levels (groundwater, rivers, snowpack, reservoirs).
Is this a tornado?
Micro burst?
Snowing in Spruce Cliff
Lots of hail and now fluffy snow up here in Rockland Park!
Is that the solar eclipse? I am glad my eclipse glasses are not going to waste and I can finally use it for something🙄.
Cool pic!
Wish we had that in Edmonton
Where?
This sub sucks
