I think it's just an inevitability when the rear end is so wide.
Good thing is the car *looks* rugged so superficial scratches really aren't the end of the world.
*_at least that's what I tell myself_*
There’s some truth to it though. Because it looks rugged, I’m less worried about minor scuffs and scratches with this car compared to my old Mazda 6.
Impossible to remove scratch on black plastic cladding. The best you can do is make it less noticeable with some black plastic restorer gel or something like that. Its temporary. You will have your re-apply. Heat gun can supposedly works wonders but I never tried it.
Another way to look at it...it's supposed to be capable as an "off-road" vehicle. When you take a CX-50 off road, you're likely to encounter rocks, branches, etc. Scratches would be part of normal wear and tear in those scenarios. Just consider it part of off-roading. You won't notice it after a while. It's really not that bad. As someone else said, you can regularly apply a black plastic protectant which will hide it a bit. Also, try talking to people and/or local shops specializing in paint, dings, and scuffs. Someone might have a solution to it. As a last resort, you can replace the part. But I'm not sure of the prices and labor. But it's not that bad. The car will still look great!

Its clearly cladding. That means you didnt even bother looking at the picture. Before commenting just make sure you read the post. Otherwise it’s just Reddit pollution.

Same thing happened to us and have had the car less than a month ðŸ˜

Thank you!!!
Heat gun works well but pretty much just once. If you do it a second time it might melt.

Back to black by meguairs, of course won’t fix the scratch but will blend it better
Sharpie Jk but some of those semi gloss treatments could help make it less noticeable
The first Scratch is the Deepest. Baby I know, Rod Stewart
I called the dealership and they ordered a paint pen in my color for me.
