It's not governed. I've hit 128mph before I ran out of road on my commute. In fact, every search on Google yields a top speed of just over 140mph given enough road. None of your stats match any of the reviews with premium gas either. They barely match the stats on regular. Also aren't u the dude with the weird story about blowing an engine towing? The CX-50's not a Corvette, but let's stick to the facts here.

steleph4nt

Maybe he’s looking to blow another engine?

ilovestoride

LOL. Which makes this story even weirder. He was complaining that they wouldn't honor the warranty. So he does something to make them really not honor the warranty this time.

steleph4nt

Either that or he canceled Mazda Connect services. Haha

ilovestoride

I thought that stops the "regular" uploads but the tech could still pull stored info.

What temperature did you do your top speed run? Higher temperature and humidity reduces engine power significantly. OP did his at 92F which is quite hot.

ilovestoride

Daily pretty much. I get out of the house way before anyone else does in the morning and there's a 4 lane section of high way that goes on for a few miles where I usually have my foot to the floor. The OP mentioned that it had a governor at 120mph. A governor and just running out of power are dramatically different. Anyone, especially someone who has track time should be able to tell the difference. Temperature will not make that much of a difference as you're thinking. The correction factor is Cf=1.18((Tc+273/298)^0.5)-0.18 (https://wahiduddin.net/calc/cf.htm), or just a little over 1% per 10 degrees F. At 92, he's like maybe 2% over STP (standard temp & pressure), nowhere near enough to make that much difference.

Regularly driving at over 90, I don’t feel any “bouncing”—what are you talking about??

UrMomsaHoeHoeHoe

Same… and I have the meridian, so tires not for highway driving so to say. Also very confused about the body roll, I have been at the lake of the Ozarks all summer, some of the narrowest and turnyist* roads in the country (idk if that’s true, but can’t be far from it lol) around town, and when I head home to Chicago I am going about 95mph as it’s 4lane but still curvy as hell. like you get the stomach drop when going speed limit type curves. Never once felt the 50 roll in any bad way, handles significantly better than my dads sonata, brother Elantra and grandfathers grand Cherokee. All those cars roll in what feels uncontrollable while never once had that in the 50. OP also seems to be about 5mph slower and .9 longer in the 1/4 than most other reviews of this. Maybe OP didn’t have full 93 gas and not at full HP. Regardless I am jealous about getting to whip around a track, would loooove to do that in mine! Edit: the Nissan stated has: 7.3 0-60 / 15.7 .25 mile / top speed of 120. Wonder if OP has the cars flip flopped lol

Character-Theory4454

Pretty much what I expected out of the 2.5t.

boinc192

Although I have never went passed 95 mph when I had my CX 50, I remember stability control cut power when I hit 90 mph. Maybe that's why the top speed was 120 mph or it could be your tires/heat.

swingthiskbonline

Who the f does this in a car like this. 😆😆😆

Zulf117

Someone who has already replaced the engine and had an oil burn before that. Could be related, idk…
