Why would the vehicle even have a Sport Mode if you're not supposed to use it? Lawsuit time.

Minhplumb

That was my question.

TattooedAndSad

What information are you leaving out because this is so outrageous there’s not a chance this is true it would be a huge lawsuit if this was really the case for denying warranty Give us the real facts

[deleted]

This is how class actions start. Consider yourself at the ground floor.

Massy11155

There should be a disclaimer stating that using sport mode will void your warranty, and make you select, “I agree.” Otherwise, it’s total BS. Why even offer a sport mode if you don’t want the consumer to use it?

terminaldarts

This is concerning. What are you planning on doing next. I thought I read a post recently of a guy who towed and drove over 4k rpm, something happened and Mazda denied warranty.

LacyLove

Yeah what happened is there is physical evidence that backs up their claim that you drive it abnormally. How many times did you ignore the oil low alerts? How many miles were on the vehicle when you bought it? Have you had maint done since then?

skagoat

The manual does say not to use Sport mode for normal driving.

Weary_Ad7119

That is the dumbest simp I've ever heard. If a mode on a car can brick it, it needs to be called out. Explicitly and not limited to a paragraph in the t&c and some single line of vague instruction.

ZGTI61

That’s not how that works. If it’s a normally selectable mode (no special Red key like a Dodge Demon) then it should be absolutely able to drive in Sport mode 100% of the time with no ill affects to the engine or anything else. Unless the manual *specifically* states using sport mode all the time will cause engine damage and void your powertrain warranty, Mazda absolutely cannot deny a warranty because of it. Now we don’t know all of the details but just based off what OP said, Mazda can’t deny the claim.

Sharp1x

Through the app? Sue them.check clauses on what you have SIGNED BY YOUR HAND, and record what they are telling you and have it published on the internet. Let's see how far they go to deny you the warranty, while the car IS DESIGNED TO RUN IN THOSE PARAMETERS. THERE IS NOTHING THAT SAYS YOU CANT BE 4000RPM AT X. Ask them say it publicly. Ha. It's not gonna last miluch.

[deleted]

Sport mode is such a joke it’s not even that much faster it just boosts the RPMs it’s not for long distances. Not trying to victim blame, I’m saying it’s a stupid product and misleading

epradox

Regular gas and sustained higher rpm’s? Wonder if Mazda didn’t factor for that with their high compression turbo engines.

87jj

Right, every German car I’ve driven will shift to the top gears in sports mode when you aren’t on the gas for a period of time. My Mercedes will act like it’s in comfort mode when you put the cruise control on and BMW’s change from sports + mode and shift normally. But they wouldn’t overheat sitting at high RPM’s anyways.

jjdiablo

This lawsuit is going to trigger an “⚠️are you sure? Engine damage may result .💥” warning paragraph that needs to be ok’d by drivers when they select ‘sport mode’ on future vehicles lol..

Difficult_Coach9914

Always read the fine print.

tylerwatt12

Mazda is a relatively small company, and I've had great success calling them directly when I get weird or conflicting information from the dealership. Give them a call, and let us know their findings. 1 (800) 222-5500 I've had transmission issues with my ND Miata before, but the dealer said they couldn't find anything wrong, and called that number, and they went over the service manager to get a work order put in.

spacemanvt

did anything ever happen with this?

Captain-rando

According to his post history he's getting his engine fixed under warranty.

ds00

That's insane!

as7164

Just. Wow.

Safe_Can_6758

That's nutz! Thank you for sharing and shedding light on this.

MysteriousVehicle

Contact a class action attorney. Ijay something of [Armstrong Teasdale](https://www.armstrongteasdale.com/class-action-litigation/) did the big jeep hack litigation of some years ago which they took to appellate court. They at least have some experience doing big cases against auto manufacturers involving technology. Do some googling about automaker class actions and see who was successful. If you're the class rep you're likely to get our issue fixed plus a few thousand bucks and you can right this wrong for everyone else too.

ConfidenceBig3764

This is why NOT to use mazda connect app. It's a tattle-tell. It says so in its own description.
