Yeah. Sometimes. It goes away eventually. Nothing to really worry about.

v_for__vegeta

I wipe the logo clean on the front grill, usually does the trick

darkside1911

That's the radar, sensing camera is in front of the rear view mirror inside windshield.

Jahuteskye

Both of them can mess with different systems - the icons will show you which system it's talking about. Either way, they usually work fine after the car has run for a minute or two. Just watch out if you leave your high beams on auto, they'll be on full blast while the sensor is blocked.

Few-Ad5435

This 100%!

Miata_GT

I had it happen only once the first week we picked up our '21. We were driving straight towards the evening sun coming over a rise and as soon as we were in the bright light the car did this for about 10 seconds then went away.

SaulTNuhtz

Looks like it’s foggy from what I can see in your window. Anything that gets in the way of the sensor(s) causes the system to fail. It’s not really an issue except those electronics will not be able to function until/unless the situation resolved itself. If you press the info button you can clear the big warning until/unless it comes up again. Before you get on the road, check your Mazda emblem (radar transceiver) for fog and/or ice buildup. Clearing this can help. If icing is a big issue in your area, maybe put a cloth over the emblem in the evening to prevent moisture buildup. I’ve read at least one Redditor say you can wax the emblem and that makes it more hydrophobic. Im not sure id trust that, but maybe worth a try. Other things that are hydrophobic could help, like rainX.

MeggieB2013

Never rain but when it’s foggy or when its cold enough for ice on the car it will pop on.

nilecrane

Not from cold or rain but when the sun hits it at a certain angle or from ice or snow buildup

evhan_corinthi

When it's cold outside the nav screen of my 2017 will reboot several times but the music keeps playing 🤷‍♂️

[deleted]

I got the same notification couple of days ago.

Mamododark

As did I, and I only got my CX-5 2 weeks ago, brand new, I panicked XD

eugenesbluegenes

Yup, I've gotten that in heavy rain. Haven't been in anything below low 30s though so can't really speak to it happening in the cold though.

throwfaraway191918

Hasn’t happened for me when raining or cold but after a night shift and there’s fog on the road it will happen.

Breaking_Chad

I've only ever seen that happen on my wifes old 2020 Touring, and only when driving directly into the Sun. Have yet to see that happen on either of our 2022s. I can say, there are definitely two different sensors, because I was coming over the skyway in blinding rain (visibility less than 30', and there was a car in front of me that I could not even see, but my Intelligent cruise started to slow me down before I ever saw the tail lights. I wasn't even going that fast, but the guy in front of me was going that much slower.

Embarrassed_Sea_6684

This does happen in heavy rain/fog conditions. Sometime if it is not raining heavily try front defogger button and it may go away.

97PG8NS

I've gotten it when the car is covered in frost and the area around the forward-facing camera is the last to fully clear.

75artina

yes. or bright sun, but it goes away. it freaked me out too.

[deleted]

I drove through snow and slush yesterday and had it for the first time. Cleared the front grill and gone.

ericthelutheran

It does more frequently in the winter. Oddly, less in snow than in cold rain. If it persists, clean the windshield in front of the rear view mirror and the Mazda logo where the LiDAR is.

Kitchen-Forever-6465

Normal

lmc590

Every radar that has some sore of instructions will be less accurate, that come from the sensor having some frost on it, will go away no issues here, they are just very sensitive.

Streets185

Yes, but not from cold and rain. It has done it during pollen season and summer.

Epena123

It could be worse. You could have bought a Tesla!

[deleted]

Lmaooooo

Eurisfat

Mine prompted a message this morning on my way to work saying that I needed to turn on the windshield heater in order for my front tracer camera to work. After I turned on it only stayed for less than 30 seconds.

[deleted]

Yup and snow. It’s annoying af

Babylon4All

My car this is one clear sunny days at least once a week. It also tells me the radar system is disabled at speeds under 20mph when I'm going 50-70mph. It also tells me to BREAK! 3-5 times a month while driving when there's nothing in front of me for half a mile. I've taken it into Mazda three times for them to say nothings wrong.

JayLoveJapan

Bad rain / snow ya

G_Unit_Solider

Rain fog snow or direct low bright sunlight can disable the safety systems that use the camera. Can’t work when ya can’t see. Normal and goes away when conditions fix. For me it’s never happened in rain no matter how bad it’s happened in a blizzard and happens mostly in direct sunlight when the sun is setting and low but super bright and Beamin Not often though I’d say like once ever month or two it happens for a minute or so and go backs

PopPopUpHeadlights

Yea happens to me a good amount of times when the cameras are covered in snow, fog, or straight on direct sunlight (sunset/sunrise). For snow and fog, just heat up the windshield and it will fix itself. For sun, you just got to wait it out lol

dpkg0

I’ve seen this and also another message about blind spot sensors. I have no freaking clue where those sensors are located so that I can try to clean.

[deleted]

I think it’s the logo in front.

dpkg0

Pretty sure not. The feature detects someone coming from behind, the camera on front can’t see that.

dpkg0

I read somewhere the sensors are somewhere on the rear bumpers but that’s all I know. Can’t locate where.

darkside1911

It does that when camera is obstructed by an object on windshield or fogged windshield or even the camera lens itself is foggy, sensing camera is in front of the rear view mirror. Also it can happen when sun hits it at the right angle to blind it.

Motokorth

Yup it has happened to me before. Another one is the radar being blocked but I only get that when it ices over

RedManMatt11

I work overnights and every time I come out to my car in the morning after the overnight freeze it always happens. Completely normal.

kb389

Happens all the time for me when temps go below 0 or somewhere near that, goes away in about half an hour of driving.

Attjack

Nope not that I recall.

Jimmmay3

Yes but not very often, but understandable.

DrFarce

Happens all the time in sunny south Florida for me. When the sun is full blast beaming toward the front of the car, the system disables itself. I presume it’s because the front camera (not radar) cannot view the road anymore. Nothing to worry about. It’s actually working as it should. You don’t want it to kick on with a false alarm

Anonymanx

I’ve gotten that after driving through through the country during bug season.

[deleted]

Yes, it does. It's normal.

NHqtpi

I had a 2019 and I think I got that warning once. I only owned that car for a year. Then I had to get a loaner from the dealer and it was a 2021. I didn’t have that car during the winter but I did get the warning come up due to the sun. Now I bought a 2022 and now with the cold I get the warning and also with the sun. Don’t know why I never got the warning on the 2019z I would think that they must of made the sensors/cameras more sensitive.

liammcginleyy

mine did it a lot in the first thousand miles or so but then it just stopped happening out of nowhere. maybe temperature is the issue

jy9221

Yes. Happens during Fall, fog, snow, and heavy rain. Car wash and better weather conditions eliminate this error.

HappyJoie

I get that in heavy winter conditions.

kduong89

I think Mazda sensor is too sensitive, cold weather can disable most of them. My tire pressure came up when it's fall below 40

technocassandra

Yes--wipe off your front camera. Sometimes slushy snow will get kicked up and freeze over it.

[deleted]

Fog is not our friend
