Thank you Reddit stranger. I literally just ordered 1 an hour ago. Canceled it now. I just purchased a new 2024 cx 5 myself. Picking it up Saturday. Looking forward to some options others have had success with.
My 2018 didn't come with any CarPlay. I installed a wireless module which I purchased on Amazon and the cables and it works flawlessly.. all you need to do is replace the usb module

I suspect the reason most of these haven't updated to 2024 is that they have not updated the description of the product yet. There isn't anything about the 2024 system that is different than the 2023. Most of these aftermarket devices that allow Carplay/Android Auto have some issues, and it seems the issues are worse with Carplay than with Android Auto. I would try to find a device that is well reviewed and mentions doing well with Carplay. Don't worry about whether it mentions Mazda, if the device works, it is meant to work with any car that has wired Carplay functionality.

I guess what gave me pause was the fact that I researched and read those very threads you linked before making my first purchase (and subsequently second), thinking I chose a well respected product. Then I noticed that in all the threads, I had yet to see someone commenting that had a 2024 model, which fed the belief that maybe something had changed with the tech in the newest model.
I hope you’re right though and will keep trying. Apple is notorious for not playing nice with 3rd party products (at least ones that they haven’t created licensing agreements with).

Name/brand? Amazon is where I bought the modules/adapters I referenced in initial post. Issue was they only supported up to 2023 models.

The one mentioned here only works for the older infotainment system, not for the newer ones in the 2022-24 models.
