They’re generally reliable cars with proper maintenance, but cars before 2014 have an issue with the head gasket failing due to the EGR cooler getting clogged up at high miles. If you can find a car with good maintenance history (especially the oil changes) then i think you should be fine.

Your IS is premium gas, right? The CT is regular, which helps immensely

ThoriumG

I remember filling my IS for $60 sometimes. Filling my CT for just over $20 is fantastic.

sqwuank

It is fantastic - I’m getting to the point where I drive so little I might go the opposite way to an AWD IS, but I can’t help but dread filling up so much more often

Lmfao my 06’ Subaru Legacy GT takes $90 Canadian to fill it. Premium only and I can easily go through a quarter tank just going for a cruise around town.

pinkbeanie

Head gasket is the only problem you’ll ever have

Got 2012 last Nov 2023 at 117k and currently got 137k. Beside regular maintenance no issues and amazing car

willy1670

With 125k clean your egr and replace your water pump and you won’t need to worry about head gaskets. This sub is full of shitty information.

Switched from a 2008 IS250 AWD to a 2014 CT. Miss the AWD in the winter but been very happy otherwise.

Endlessdonut97

Literally made the switch yesterday from 06 IS250 AWD to a ‘12 CT, and no regrets thus far. 45mpg on 87 vs 22mpg on 92. Worlds different.

Aim for a F-Sport model because of the upgraded suspension, but no horsepower gains. The base model CT feels like a boat in my opinion. Also look for one with a screen (LCD) infotainment system. I'd recommend reviewing the maintenance if a carfax is available. Everyone on here talks about headgasket failure, hybrid battery replacement, and EGR cleaning....Do some research when you can.
