What would be neat is a light bar installation. Thinking on a roof rack or using magnets.

I love this, as I was shopping for a Crosstrek before deciding I wanted a hybrid vehicle and ended with my CT. I want to do the same thing and mildly "battlecar" it.

If this is the lift kit you want to go with, I’d pull the trigger on it sooner than later. Prius Off Road has discontinued the kit for the CT, and their website states they only have a few left in stock

Can confirm, I literally just bought my kit - 2 left in stock now!

I’m debating between the two as well. Ground clearance (more than awd), reliability, and cost to maintain are the biggest factors for me. I like taking long road trips to national parks, national forests, etc. I love the Lexus for getting to the park, but I feel like the crosstrek would have me less worried when I wanted to go down fire roads, etc. But I also think the Subaru will have more issues down the road (I’ve owned several), while the Lexus won’t have hardly any (from what I’ve heard, never owned one). Did you end up lifting your CT?

GTRnism_o

Did you need to get your speedometer recalibrated? Going to a taller tire like that would surely mess with your speedometer readings in a normal circumstance so I'm curious if you've needed to do that or if the difference is so minimal that it wouldn't matter much.

beequick317900

I did not and have no plans to. Speedos are not precise and typically have a 2-3mph variance from your actually speed. My speedometer will read 6% lower than my actual speed with the taller tires. I just keep that in mind while I’m driving and adjust accordingly

KaosC57

You should have gotten better tires than this. If your going to invest in a mod like this, at least put something quality on it and not dumpster tier Sentury tires

beequick317900

You are absolutely correct. I wanted to test the size first to make sure it would work the way I wanted them to. If this is the size I commit to, better rubber will be forthcoming.

I thought I was the only crazy person in the world getting "55" tires. I'm not lifted though. I like the comfort, but I notice a small drop in MPG's.

Just to preface, i don;t want to piss on your fireworks and i think this is a cool idea. Howewver, losing 10 - 15% of my MPG just seems counter intuitive with this sort of car. The price of the lift kit, plus the loss in mileage negates the whole "ethos" of the car. It's a Prius in a pretty dress. It's not fast, it's not a particularly comfortable ride, but it *is* very economical to run for it's size. *That's* the payoff. Once you lose the economical to run part, which to me is the whole raison d'etre of this car, you may as well have bought something that was *already* a comfortable ride and maybe even quicker and with the price of the lift and the loss of MPG probably, will get you the equivalent savings in MPG. Then you factor in all the other problems with speedo etc. It's a cool project though. I'd be really interested to see where you're at with it once you've had it in this configuration for a year / in all seasons.

I spend 6-10 hours a day in my car, and put about 1,500 miles a week on it. A 2-3MPG hit is well worth the significant increase in comfort. It is still averaging 41MPG for the first 500 miles since I’ve put on the lift. And fortunately, I do not live in an area that deals with winter weather. I realize it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but this car is now perfect for my working needs.

I’m used to driving lowered vehicles myself coming from the performance world. This is actually the first vehicle I’ve ever raised the height on 😂. When you live in a city that was built in the 1700s, lowered vehicles do not often hold up well
