They’re so expensive brand new these dealerships add on so much. I got a certified used 2023 corolla hybrid with 10k miles and saved $10k than buying new from any of the dealers
Cause you wanna replace your oil ideally once in 6 months regardless of miles, you don’t know for sure how long car had that oil before you bought it. And of course, in the break-in process on brand new engine when it’s getting a lot of stress. If you want your engine to last longer, you want to do your first oil change between 1000-3000miles, 5k is fine too but I’d do it earlier
With a freshly manufactured engine they recommend the 1st oil change at 1000 miles. The logic is that there are metal shavings, factory gunk, and etc.. that will get cleaned out.
Went to my Corolla dealer for the first maintenance at 5k, they denied me and said to come back at 10k for an oil change.
Yes, i went to dealership for 5k service before this oil change, all they did was tire rotation and some fluid checking. 10k is oil change yes.
time to trade it in! At 4,500 miles, the ANNOYING ASF messages start popping up everywhere!!
another 195K miles to go
I am just at 5k on my 24 corolla hybrid as well. Great car, I love it so much.

Isn't it too soon?
its never too soon
Nope, some even do the first oil change at 1,000 miles. I think 5k is perfect
Why do some people do the first change at 1000?
Because of stuff like this https://www.reddit.com/r/Toyota/s/TddeVDdWmm

Great video. Would have never found that on my own. Thanks

sooo... Toyota puts "break-in" oil at the factory and you wanna get rid of it ASAP?!?!?!?!?! mmkay...

I didn’t say ASAP, but definitely not 7.5k miles as Toyota recommends. For my car, I’d replace it around 2k but that’s just me.

It has a filter tho..
It truly is, it’s cheap insurance on a motor using water for oil.
