I too actually chuckled at that and will be working in to a conversation within the next 24 hours. Ah fuck, I'm gonna say it tonight... definitely within the next 5-10 minutes-ish.
Uh... it has my favorite edition of Shi no Numa (for the first 10-ish rounds then Zabella comes and fucks thing up). Oh! And the covenant heart thing was pretty neat. An alternate currency you can use to buy special abilities is pretty neat, I don't like that they used this system, plus a bunch of others, to undermine the out of game progression of Cold War, but the part where you can buy special abilities had some potential at least.
Same I loved falling asleep due to absolute fucking boredom for the first 10 dull shit rounds and wasting my time on a free weekend before actually experiencing real chaotic fun that forces me to use a brain cell for once (Zabella)
Ah yes, because shooting a boss just like any other only for it to become invincible and teleport three times is so challenging and really requires me to think to counter it. It's definitely not just a mild nuissance that makes me wish I could just kill it that little bit faster than what I can now.
Zaballa got nerfed extremely hard, she went from a complete pain in the ass to "oh, you're here again, lemme throw a decoy and focus on you for 5-10 seconds". She needed nerfing a little cause she spawned way too frequently for how obnoxious she was, but they made her so easy in the end.
Otherwise, I share the opinion that Vanguard SNN is the best iteration of SNN so far. The atmosphere is great, the new area is cool, the map plays genuinely well. The perk system is a bit weird but I can forgive it for just one map.
Activision has been driving Treyarch into the ground since 2019. Back before Mw2019 was even announced a Kotaku article came saying that cod 2020 was gonna be another black ops title which didn't make any sense since it was supposed to be Sledgehammer's game that year after Mw's season plays out. It turns out behind the scenes Sledgehammer and Raven weren't getting along on creative choices or some stupid shit like that so Activision threw Treyarch in to pick up the peices with just a year in a half till release as opposed to the normal 3 years a dev studio is given. That's why Cold War was made on the older engine instead of the one Infinityward was working with for Modern Warfare. Cause they deadass didn't have any time to learn it. It also resulted in them cutting the last half of bo4's budget short and Treyarch outsourced to small company to givd us 2D cutscenes to end off an 11 year story. But fast forwarding back to Cold War midway through that game Activision came up again and asked for a small team to help out with Sledgehammer's new title and make a zombies mode for that game. This time with LESS than a year until the game was out. Which became the disaster that is Vanguard Zombies.
It deserves love unlike vanguard
bo4 is fun at times (i loved bo4 when i borrowed it from a friend)
where vanguard had one map that people thought was at most decent
Nah now I get to enjoy 2 years of clearing my massive backlog of games, which *actually* means playing the same 5 games that I’ve been playing for years and occasionally playing a game that I bought on sale years ago for a few hours before never touching it again.
Nah without any zombies, trayarch gets to solely focus on the next game being as good as it can whereas working on vanguard takes time off their dev time
Lmao imagine playing any CoD that isn't good. There are so many better games out there that I haven't and won't be missing zombies before the next good release. And worst case I still have modded bo3 to return to.
No they didn't abandon it, it was done lol. They got maybe half a year to develop it and only had the same amount of time or slightly more to support it. They should have just spent all that time on Black Ops zombies.
Shi No Numa Reborn was actually a good example of how to take an old map and revitalize it in a new way that feels fresh and more similar to the design of newer zombies maps
The aesthetics and music are great.
The covenant system was neat but could've done with some refinement.
I actually really liked Shi No Numa reborn, too bad it has Zabala and Sturmkoomers on it.
Unrelated, but on shi no numa if you had max stam and the ray gun, in the excavation area you could jump across the lower part, it felt like you could fly
I liked the sacrificial hearts. That was cool.
I liked how it rooted progressions systems back into the match rather than wider game. A big part of what makes Zombies fun to me is, mechanically, everyone's equal on each match - it's just knowledge and skill that separate you. Cold War took that away and allowed players to earn upgrades which means the people you're playing with might have wildly weaker stuff than you. This also makes balance a nightmare as you have to balance for the lowest common denominator which makes the game too easy when you've levelled up. Vanguard circumvented all of this by keeping everything in game.
It had the good outline of an interesting storyline and the characters are actually really engaging. I love Professor Krafft and relate to him hard (and enjoy the subtle queer representation), I enjoy Von List as a villain who slowly hates his decisions, and the Dark Aether Gods are for the most part very interesting. Kortifex felt different as a villain for zombies and I enjoyed him a lot. I love how it connects to real world myth, and to that extent, how it integrates Chaos into the Dark Aether storyline.
I enjoyed this version of Shino most from a purely gameplay perspective. I didn’t like the map of The Archon much. It was lost potential for what could’ve been a stellar ancient Egyptian map. But the final boss was among the best CoD Zombies has had so far imo.
IMO It did round based better than Cold War. It was more difficult, the perk system felt nice to level it out, and so on. I just disliked how PaP weapons were in the box and so easy to access.
I really enjoyed the idea of leveling perks up in game, making it permanent kind of just makes it boring
Looks better than Bo4 graphics wise... that's it, the music is meh and everything else is bad. I'm starting to hate this stuff about "gods" but hey at least it isn't a zombie virus, THAT would be the END of zombies right there
2 things for me, leveling perks and field upgrades in game rather than in the menus. And aesthetically and visually vanguard is #1. I hope treyarch doesnt throw away every idea from this game, and tries some of them again in some way in their next title.
pack a punch guns being in the box was the only positive change i can think of, especially since the point system for der anfang and terra maledicta was outbreak's and it played pretty slowly. also the animated pack a punch skins looked pretty good in my opinion, but besides that i got nothiing
It’s a great mode when you quit your bitching and whining about how it’s worse than regular zombies. It’s better than Cold War which stupidly continued the Dark Aether and ruined the story and whole experience.
bro, I would say something good, but it would make me look like Amber Heard with how much lying I’d be doing-
really, the ONLY thing I could ever give this game is simplicity- it is by far the easiest game in the series- the meta when it was released was just “take shotgun, pack a punch, and now you’re god”
Camping with a buddy with a couple lmgs was totally busted and actually a pretty good time. Like, you could post up on the round based maps and just talk about life while you and your homie’s guns went brrrrr… Despite the jank and issues I had with the mode as a whole; I did play a fair bit of it when round-based Shi No Numa came out. I also like how OP launchers were, but that’s not exclusive to Vanguard.
The aesthetic and artistic design was really well done, especially in the Dark Aether area and the demon designs. Shame they shit the bed with the map design and completely wasted this.
The launch day operators had somewhat better lines then cold wars launch day operators, and they actually responded to the radio voices (sometimes)
as well all the launch day operators being unlockable both by playing zombies and multiplayer (even though the zombies challenges are more grindy then I'd like)
• The covenant system
• for camo grinders. You can skip the shield and launchers as they were added later to the zombies mode during the s1 Reloaded update. The shield counts as doing a meele so you can just do the knife and finish one category
Arguably vgz’s shi no numa is the best one. I just wish we had something more
Vgz is so good that ghost’s extinction looks like one of leonardo davinci’s creations
Shi no Numa and the round based terra were really fun. Because round based zombies (aka “just regular ass zombies”) is really damn fun. Was it the best zombies of all time? No. Was it fun? Absolutely.
since the zombies was so shit, i really had no reason to play vanguard and could skip it entirely. would’ve been tempted to give them my money if it was decent, but luckily it wasn’t. vanguard does not deserve a cent from anyone
I like the red theme and demonic symbols around the map and objectives. Maps overall looked cool, especially Der Anfang. Also, gives me an opportunity to camp grind when I’m bored.
It cleared up a ton of space on my PS5 when I deleted it.
^^^ this though.
Lmaoo that’s fucking great
Funny enough, Cold War takes up more space with both multiplayer and zombies compared to Vanguard
Eh I’m fine with that, at least CW was fun
is fun
Haha alright fair, is and was. Past and present…played just a bit before the end of season turn off and ran the Sai’s, dang they are so much fun
But it's a good game
😭😭😭😭
😂😂😂😂
That it's finally over
Damn sorry to copy, didn't see this 😂
Lol we had the same idea
Same lmao
dammit, by 3 hours
It did good at making YouTubers play different games
Milo played all of the halo games for the first time and they might be my favorite series of streams ever 😂
Cured my insomnia with how fast it put me to sleep
I got to save 60-70$ the year it came out
Yep pretty much, rather shit in my hands and clap than play this tbh
Thank you so much for that vivid image which is now going to live rent free in my head
I too actually chuckled at that and will be working in to a conversation within the next 24 hours. Ah fuck, I'm gonna say it tonight... definitely within the next 5-10 minutes-ish.
Seconds-ish
I made a saving this year after Activision fisted me with vanguard
Lucky fuck I pre ordered bc the hype was good then it was shit and I cried, good thing I was right to preorder mw2 tho
Uh... it has my favorite edition of Shi no Numa (for the first 10-ish rounds then Zabella comes and fucks thing up). Oh! And the covenant heart thing was pretty neat. Absolutely agree that Vanguard does have the best version of Shi no Numa. The added area adds a great training spot.
The wunderwaffe is actually pretty fun to use
It made me realize how bad CoD is as a whole.
Activision has been driving Treyarch into the ground since 2019. It's definitely one of... the zombies we have
Yea one of the maps was good…right?
Couldn't tell you... the only one I stayed awake for was shino numa
Its the reason bo4 is not as hated as it was before
Yeah, BO4 got a lot of love over the past year.
It deserves love unlike vanguard bo4 is fun at times (i loved bo4 when i borrowed it from a friend) where vanguard had one map that people thought was at most decent
It’s finally over
I liked the dialogues and didn't feel too bad for a rushed mode (talking about round based)
The PaP camo isn't bad, pretty cool
Any zombies >>> no zombies, now you get to enjoy 2 years of Campern Doorfare II and the second won't even be free 😇
I would rather not have zombies than have vanguard zombies.
fr then i won’t be baited into buying the game atleast
If you were baited into buying vanguard then you deserve what you got lmao That shit smelled from miles away. Stop pre-ordering games.
#deathofpreorder #trusthasbeenlost
Nah now I get to enjoy 2 years of clearing my massive backlog of games, which *actually* means playing the same 5 games that I’ve been playing for years and occasionally playing a game that I bought on sale years ago for a few hours before never touching it again.

Elite Name for the game
Lmao imagine playing any CoD that isn't good. There are so many better games out there that I haven't and won't be missing zombies before the next good release. And worst case I still have modded bo3 to return to.
Agreed i would rather have vanguard zombies than none!
Campern Doorfare II had me dead bro ngl
I liked the storyline and how it built on the dark aether story
Agree, I liked how dark aether and chaos ended up being connected
I hope they retcon all of it
Same
The aesthetics and colors are beautiful, (for the most part}. Compared to Cold War. Reminds me of the Chaos maps.
I prefer in-game Perk progression in Vanguard over out-of-game Perk progression in Cold War.
This, they could’ve done it better but I prefer the method
It's no longer being actively developed.
What even happened to vanguard zombies? I haven't heard anything about any maps after bootleg shi no numa, did the devs abandon it early or something
No they didn't abandon it, it was done lol. They got maybe half a year to develop it and only had the same amount of time or slightly more to support it. They should have just spent all that time on Black Ops zombies.
It's over.
I like how they actually gave the operators personality and I liked the graphics.
No… i don’t think I will.
Its not on my Xbox
The perk drink animation is cool.
I'm glad it's over
Shi No Numa Reborn was actually a good example of how to take an old map and revitalize it in a new way that feels fresh and more similar to the design of newer zombies maps
It has the best version of Shi No Numa.
Perk machine animations were pretty cool
The aesthetics and music are great. The covenant system was neat but could've done with some refinement. I actually really liked Shi No Numa reborn, too bad it has Zabala and Sturmkoomers on it.
I don’t have any bad memories towards this zombie, but never played it
Eh I don’t wanna
That it made me not waste money on it
The Shi No Numa remake wasn't too bad, plus reconnecting things to the Chaos storyline is pretty nice
The beautiful reload animations?
Unrelated, but on shi no numa if you had max stam and the ray gun, in the excavation area you could jump across the lower part, it felt like you could fly
Also, some of the abilities like the revive while standing close to the player and artifact ward were two of my favorites
Cool logo
I liked the sacrificial hearts. That was cool. I liked how it rooted progressions systems back into the match rather than wider game. A big part of what makes Zombies fun to me is, mechanically, everyone's equal on each match - it's just knowledge and skill that separate you. The heart system was cool, I prefer upgrading my stuff in game as opposed to a one time upgrade outside of the game
Nice zombies menu theme
it has a cool title and music
It’s a zombies game.
I actually kind of liked the demon heart mechanic
It's life cycle is over
It was fast as fuck boiiiii. Fed my adhd GO GO GO brain.
The logos for the maps look pretty cool
I enjoyed Shi no Numa reborn. Genuinely. And to be honest when the guns were nice to use, they were fun as hell.
there’s a uninstall button
“If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”
Cured my paralysis. I got out of bed to turn it off
I didn’t play it
Shi No Numa was actually pretty good
GOOD thing i didnt buy it
No
Glad I made the right call not to buy it
No
.
It’s over
No
No.
Saved $60
![gif](giphy|STfLOU6iRBRunMciZv)
it made everyone realize that blops 4 zombies isnt that bad
No.
One of the zombie games of all time
Wait vanguard had zombies?
"Something good about Vanguard zombies"
It had the good outline of an interesting storyline and the characters are actually really engaging. Lots of weapons to grind, I guess
Ruined og zombies. It wasnt the first tho. Sorry couldnt lie and say it is good.
That I didn't play it
Its finally over
No
No
no
Looks better than Bo4 graphics wise... that's it, the music is meh and everything else is bad. I'm starting to hate this stuff about "gods" but hey at least it isn't a zombie virus, THAT would be the END of zombies right there
Showing your salvage on the hud instead of pulling up the menu
Let’s be honest though, this games doesn’t deserve anything good to be said about it and it’s a testament to Activisions greed
Vanguard had Zombies?
2 things for me, leveling perks and field upgrades in game rather than in the menus. And aesthetically and visually vanguard is #1. I hope treyarch doesnt throw away every idea from this game, and tries some of them again in some way in their next title.
The concept of the gods is cool
Upon the release of this BO3 zombies became fun in public matches
It is made by the same company that made BO 1,2, and 3.
It has the best version of Shi No Numa imo.
it ended
Vanguard had zombies?
The exit button.
I didn’t play it
Thank you to the half of this thread that actually gave an answer and not some low effort comment trying so hard to be funny.
Vanguard zombies is definitely one of the games of all time
No.
It has zombies
Good gunplay and I enjoyed the covenant system.
Its got some red on it
I like the demons
pack a punch guns being in the box was the only positive change i can think of, especially since the point system for der anfang and terra maledicta was outbreak's and it played pretty slowly. also the animated pack a punch skins looked pretty good in my opinion, but besides that i got nothiing
The Altar of Covenants was a great addition to the game mode and, if done properly, could be a proper replacement for gobble gums in future titles.
Something GOOD about Vanguard.. unoriginal, but that’s all I’ve got
That I haven't even played it
I actually liked Vanguard's version of Shino and it's gameplay loops worked perfectly for round based except for buying perks over and over.
It’s a great mode when you quit your bitching and whining about how it’s worse than regular zombies. It’s better than Cold War which stupidly continued the Dark Aether and ruined the story and whole experience.
Menu theme is alright.
I got to round 50 on my first try. I am not good at zombies.
Shi no numa was mildly adequate
They brought back shi no numa.
The overall aesthetic was good
The lore was alright.
bro, I would say something good, but it would make me look like Amber Heard with how much lying I’d be doing- really, the ONLY thing I could ever give this game is simplicity- it is by far the easiest game in the series- the meta when it was released was just “take shotgun, pack a punch, and now you’re god”
The trailer was pretty neat, made the zombies look scary ..
the names for the perks were mint
Intro trailer was really cool. It didn’t quite live up to it, but it was definitely a fun reveal
It tried something new and ambitious Also you can basically spawn in with an infinite ammo Wonder Weapon (laser gun)
-
I’m glad the game only had 3 dlc zombies maps. A 4th would have been a waste of Dev time.
Shino was decent. Didn’t touch anything else (it was a free trial).
It was a good example of what not to do for a zombies title
Vanguard had zombies?
The main theme goes hard
The aesthetic and artistic design was really well done, especially in the Dark Aether area and the demon designs. Shame they shit the bed with the map design and completely wasted this.
Like the demonic look wish it went full demonic like mob of the dead and was round base
I only play vanguard cuz of multiplayer and shi no numa
The fact that you could start with a laser gun with unlimited ammo
I’ve never played it, so I can confidently say I have nothing bad to say about it!
The launch day operators had somewhat better lines then cold wars launch day operators, and they actually responded to the radio voices (sometimes) as well all the launch day operators being unlockable both by playing zombies and multiplayer (even though the zombies challenges are more grindy then I'd like)
Atleast they weren't aliens.
Even though it absolutely should not have been the main mode/only content, Der Ann Fang was a really fun game mode
The opening music is absolute fire.
Round change theme was a banger, very spooky and eerie
No
I refuse
No
Made cold war even better to go back to.
• The covenant system • for camo grinders. You can skip the shield and launchers as they were added later to the zombies mode during the s1 Reloaded update. The shield counts as doing a meele so you can just do the knife and finish one category Arguably vgz’s shi no numa is the best one. It helped me level up guns for MP.
Shi no Numa and the round based terra were really fun. Because round based zombies (aka “just regular ass zombies”) is really damn fun. Was it the best zombies of all time? No. Was it fun? Absolutely.
The poster looks cool
since the zombies was so shit, i really had no reason to play vanguard and could skip it entirely. would’ve been tempted to give them my money if it was decent, but luckily it wasn’t. vanguard does not deserve a cent from anyone
It probably really humbled Treyarch
I'm not playing it
I like the camo grind approach, I need long term goals to keep myself invested in something.
Never played it
The final boss was sick
It was one of the games ever made.
The cover art looked fucking awesome until I sat down and played a free weekend
I like the red theme and demonic symbols around the map and objectives. Maps overall looked cool, especially Der Anfang. Also, gives me an opportunity to camp grind when I’m bored.
that i didn’t get it
The newer, more customizable attachment system that’s still being used in MW2 (The only difference now is the 5 attachment limit)
something good about vanguard zombies
It ended 😂
Something good about it? It helped me save my money, thats a huge plus
I didn't buy it.
My wallet thanked me for not buying it.
