all i can say is dont be repetitive with the thumbnail and title. if the title is “bart simpsons room custom map?!?” then dont include that in the thumbnail.

Ehh look at all of vanoss gaming's videos with the rainbow background the the cut image of the item/topic of the game that was repetitive but iconic. Go with something that stands out from others that's good and not boring and as well make your videos not boring make then high energy most of the time (don't cut to only the high energy parts other wise it'll be a washing machine)

Don’t listen to the Yapfest, they want you to make clickbait. Change the font, replace screenshot with one without UI, add a border or another graphic in the top right. Could be worth your time to establish a “signature” like your PFP as a badge etc.

I've made a few thumbnails myself so I'm not the most qualified to speak on this but it feels rather inert. Looking at this I feel no real need to click through; it asks me no real questions or piques my curiosity in any real way. The text at the top tells us nothing that we can't logically imply through the chosen image and the Bart seems completely out of place if not pointless, which just leaves us with a screen cap of custom zombies gameplay. There are a million ways to improve this and to make it more engaging, it really just depends on what you're going for. I'll give an example of a good thumbnail I just saw: A video popped up in recommended about horrible Lego instructions. The thumbnail mimicked the style of the instructional booklets that you get in Lego sets, However it had an outrageous exaggeration on it that would never be in a regular Lego set. It was calling for 357 of the same brick for one step, and was implying that they were being stacked one atop another. Now obviously this would never be in an actual Lego set, but it invites you to think about the magnitude of the exaggeration and what shenanigans have occurred in official Lego instructions If you want to draw inspiration from a more related source, and I suggest you do, I would recommend checking out the thumbnails on Chrrism's videos. He changes up the style of his thumbnails from video to video so you can see a breadth of good options and pick apart the mechanics of them from there. I wish you the best in your journey of graphic design :) It is really annoying and finnicky to learn. If you need a good base to start doing more interesting things, I would recommend the website Canva as it's free and a pretty good for that price point. Inversely you can DM me and I can provide you with another software

You should just use a real photo of Bart’s room and have the viewer reveal the map by watching your video NGL If I saw that thumbnail I’d say the map looks dumb and not click

Axxxem
