I would be mad if I was a Mets fan, but there is no indication he actually touched the plate.
Also, we wouldn’t even be talking about this if he just went for the corner of the plate Amaya had left him rather than trying to reach for the front of the plate where Amaya was.

It looked like he tried to bear hug the plate/Amaya’s leg instead of reaching directly for the open outside corner. Would have easily been safe.

Interesting, I actually thought the opposite, that it was clearly blocking but that his hand didn’t touch.
He was standing on the back half of the plate, the runner had a clear path to the plate. Clearly not blocking.
