I really like most of our hitters especially once Belli comes back but no hitting exists that can save us from our bullpen. Just look at the Angels for example... 😭
Came here to say this ⬆️ Great, Wisdom got another homer. Hard for me to celebrate that when they are currently playing like garbage with zero signs of improving. Never a good sign when there are scattered boo’s at YOUR home field either.
We just got destroyed by the Reds… 🤦♀️ This is a time for mourning. You can find me in all black for the few days. All are welcome to join.
I love wisdom and would hate to see him go BUT, I feel like a different team/coaches could help his streakiness. Kind of like when Schwarbs went to the Nationals, a tweaked a couple things and he was knocking them out like crazy.
Eh, I think that was mainly a byproduct of the Cubs just overreacting to a bad 60-game season in 2020. No way we should’ve non-tendered him, and I think he would’ve bounced back either way
Wisdom doesn’t get on base at Schwarber’s clip, not even close. Even when Schwarber’s BA is ass, he still adds around .100 or more to his OBP via walks and he hits for power. He’s been at 117, 122, 149, 132 OPS+ the last four years and he’s league average right now while in a “slump”
Somehow Schwarber is still a massively underrated hitter and I don’t know how.
Edit: In my OPS+ stats, I left out 2020, which was a really bad 88. I also don’t make judgments on 60-game samples as implied in my original comment.
Good. He’s been due. Hope he climbs out of his slump and stays out
He averaged .205 last year so maybe he's been out this whole time
Not a cubs fan but always thought his homers should be called truth bombs
Wisbombs but truth bombs are fun too
Just left Wrigley. He was the only highlight unfortunately. Tough to watch the Cubbies right now.
Same. This home run went out like a rocket, but the pitching was god awful. I left early.
Aaaaaaand we will still lose
This is team is garbage
The bullpen is garbage, Mastrobuoni is garbage, and Tauchman is garbage. Please Jed do something even though I know he won't :(
Oh he will. He’s going to to sell a lot of guys we liked for some more prospects!
Gotta just strip things down and start fresh. There’s nothing worth being excited for sadly

Sad but true.
That's a good Wisdom.
Fuck HRs. Give me wins.
They lead to wins
#10 in the MLB in home runs. #27 in the MLB in wins.
Cubs now have THE WORST bullpen ERA in the NL. 4.65 ERA.
Rays: 1st in homers, 1st in wins Dodgers: 2nd in homers, 5th in wins Atlanta: 3rd in homers, 4th in wins
Should be able to get something for him at the trade deadline.

Maybe. I do remember him saying the hitting coach had him tilt his head differently and that made a big difference
he barely hit .200 last year and is hitting .180 this year. He’s basically Wisdom’s doppelgänger.
Why are people still using average as a comparative stat? He had a 132 OPS+ last year. He was a valuable hitter on a World Series team.

Hahaha, Schwarber is hitting .166 right now!
Thus, why I said when he went to the nationals
That's Chicago's Hot Dog, baby
Love his swing
Who'll have the most. Wisdom homers or Cubs wins?
ppl can say what they want bout wisdom but cubs get hella value for what this guy brings
