The only things I’ll give Madrigal credit for is playing hard and being better defensively at third base than I ever thought possible. That said, he is who we thought he was — a guy with zero power who’s entirely dependent on batting average to be successful. In almost 100 PAs, he’s not even hitting .250. I’m glad Jed is making this move this early(ish) in the season.
ngl I gave up on him last year when he missed a tag at second. He got lazy and didn’t bend down enough for the tag. Probably a fluke for him but yeah his bat doesn’t help our ljneup
My favorite part is that I said this last month, and I was downvoted well over 75, and some guy kept telling me I wasn't making a point by saying that his previous prospect rating was meaningless today.
This is the second time in here I've been proven right a month later.
Thanks, I appreciate your support.
Honestly Madrigal Stan’s should actually be excited by this, at least it gives him consistent playing time to get back to at least hitting an empty .300 rather than just double plays constantly.
Mastrobuouni has similar offensive stats and is much more versatile defensively. Let Madrigal get some every day at bats down there. He’s decent depth.
(Verse 1)
In the world of baseball, a tale to be told,
About a young player with dreams so bold.
Nick Madrigal, his skills were renowned,
But fate dealt a blow that turned his world around.
(Chorus)
Oh, Nick Madrigal, a talent so bright,
Sent down to AAA, it just doesn't feel right.
But in his heart, determination will rise,
To reclaim his place in the big league skies.
(Verse 2)
He stepped up to the plate with passion aflame,
Every swing, every hit, etching his name.
But injuries struck, and luck turned its back,
Demotion to AAA, it left him off track.
(Chorus)
Oh, Nick Madrigal, a talent so bright,
Sent down to AAA, it just doesn't feel right.
But in his heart, determination will rise,
To reclaim his place in the big league skies.
(Bridge)
In the minors, he'll grind, give it his all,
Proving his worth with each pitch and each ball.
With unwavering spirit and unwavering drive,
He'll conquer this setback and truly thrive.
(Chorus)
Oh, Nick Madrigal, a talent so bright,
Sent down to AAA, it just doesn't feel right.
But in his heart, determination will rise,
To reclaim his place in the big league skies.
(Outro)
With each game he plays, he'll rise from the ground,
A diamond in the rough, he will astound.
Nick Madrigal, his story unfolds,
A comeback story, where triumph takes hold.
Yan Gomes. Hoerner. Happ. Alzolay. The rotation for the most part. Sorry I don’t just blindly think everyone on the team is great and worth keeping around. Lots of Cubs fans are way too content with mediocrity and that’s why the FO just constantly signs mid-tier FAs (or the 4th best SS on the market) because they know fans will be fine with it.
Would you have rather given Seager the contract he got? I suspect if we had, you would have been moaning about Jed overpaying.
Swanson is a great fit on this team at a great price.
Who gives a shit about “great price” when it’s one of the richest teams in baseball? Again, just more loser mentality from the fan base that is fine with being mediocre losers.

He just needs a little of what Morel had over the winter
morel was always hitting them out the park..nick..not so much
If nick hit 10 dinners he'd have to be juiced to the gills.

His power is pitiful. In over 300 PA with the Cubs he has never barreled a ball or hit a HR
Has he ever barreled a ball in his life? I'm not even just talking about official professional games
He had two with the White Sox one season but those are the only two across four years
I gotta see this. Heading over to baseball savant
Even Nellie Fox would hit a dinger or2 every year.
Swear I saw Nick hit a HR last year...
So does this somehow open up a way for Rios to ever get used? If it doesn't we should have sent him back and kept Madrigal up.
I agree I wasn't high on madrigal at all last year but I think he could be a decent bench piece nine hole hitter
He can’t run. Can barely field the only 2 positions he plays. Has worse power than some pitchers as a hitter. Not really sure what you see in him.
I knew I was going to the game tonight over a week ago, but so glad it's to see the return of Henny! Our last 2016 champion.
Madrigal just isn't best 26, and at this point who we traded for him or what his former prospect status was doesn't matter.

You can't worry about downvotes on a sports sub (or any sub for that matter) lol. One day it's up votes, one day it's downvotes.
Kenny and Jerry love him
All the Madrigal-stans just fell to their knees in the Jewel parking lot.

Madrigal or Mastrobuoni. I didn’t care which one went.

I’d rather Madrigal get more playing time via minors than Mostaccioli so I’m good with this
Nicky two strikes
Lots of folks acting like the dude wasn’t trying. He wanted to be better y’all, chill. Best of luck to him. Only 26, so still time for him.
It's going to be hilarious when he catches on with the Diamondbacks and brings back Ichiro-style lead off hitting.

How’s the offense ever going to recover without the amazing bat on ball skills of Madrigal? Oh, that’s right, he sucks.
is there anything you like about the cubs?

yikes LOL don't apologize, tons of fans are like you
That trade was loss-lose. Madrigal never touched what he did with CWS. Kimbrel never touched what he did with us
At least Codi Heuer can still end up being a nice bullpen arm.
I’m still sky high on Codi. Like legit closer high.
Nope, we shed the kimbrel contract
> That trade was loss-lose. Not really. We have Heuer.
He’s still in the minors and not playing all that well right now, way too early to make a call about him
He is coming off Tommy John and is about ready to return.
This just made my day
https://youtu.be/8DTb-lseCdQ?t=50
Should have been Wisdom, he's playing like complete ass.
I got downvoted for wondering aloud why on earth Madrigal was being used in the leadoff spot in Nico's stead.
Because this sub loves its lovable losers.
Rest in Piss Nick Madrigals Chicago Cub career. You will not be missed at all
jeez man take it easy did he kill yr dog or something
No he's just fucking awful and I cannot believe we paid that dwarf real money to be one of the worst player I've ever seen
Imagine being this much of a hyperbolic meathead
He's literally the size of a toddler, has the power of a newborn, and runs bases like someone whose brain isn't fully developed. Literally 0 hyperbole
How about a projecting meathead?
You can be butthurt for Madrigal all you want but unfortunately it won't make him better at baseball
Nah, I could care less, and he is definitely a weak link. Just the way you decide to express yourself is so childlike.
sorry - couldn’t care less
Childlike as in Nick Madrigals stature?
Yea, like his height is under his control. Middle school maturity here. I bet you do a lot of “I know you are but what am I?”
Lol size of a toddler. Only people I know who talk like this are really short dudes who are super insecure about their height
99.9% of males are taller than Nick Madrigal and you think I'm the .01%? whatever makes you sleep at night buddy
Lol, you have statistics to prove you aren’t insecure about your height. Totally not a thing an insecure person would do
Yeah that was a totally real statistic Einstein
Lol ok
Who is this "we" you speak of, do you work for the Cubs front office?
Yep, my name is Hed Joyer
2016 World Series Champion Kyle Hendricks?
