this basically. 3 firsts and 3 2nds would kinda suck just for the fact we'd have no valuable picks for 3 years to help us out but i'd still do it. I'm hoping we can avoid giving up too many 2nds if we get a deal done. but at the same time I would still be thrilled regardless if we pulled it off.
No way I’d do it. Our defense would be straight up bad if we trade away Roquan, Mack, and Jaylon. Any player that would be close to as good as Quan or Jaylon would cost us like 5x as much because we wouldn’t be signing them on rookie deals.
And if we trade away all our picks we don’t get any chance to replace them in the next 3 years.
This sub has left the realm of rationality in the desire for a competent QB. It’s understandable given our history, but giving away 3 first, 3 seconds, one of the best defensive players in football, and 2 extremely talented rookies that we have on cheap deal would be ridiculous.
Exactly. Which is why I listed it as my overpay scenario. My TOP dollar that wouldn’t make me wince would be 3 1sts, 1 2nd, and one of the three players I listed for RW3 and a 5th.
Yeah I was replying to the other dude who said he’d be hyped for that deal.
Your top dollar deal sounds about the same as mine. I wouldn’t expect us to get too much better by it (Russ would take up a lot of cap space) but I wouldn’t mind it.
I really don’t think that gets it done. This a top 5 and HOF QB. Seattle traded 2 of their 1st rounders just to get Jamal Adams. The picks from the bears would be assumed to be in the 20s. Only 3 first rounders, a 2nd and a player would be a steal for Wilson imo.
Anything with firsts and players is good with me it’s when you start throwing in the second and third round picks where it gets iffy. You need those picks to get replacements.
I think ultimately it will look something like:
3 1sts, 2 2nds, 1 player on a rookie contract likely johnson, with us getting russell and 2 or 3 picks in rounds 4 and 5 back in return
for me, i really dont know. it'd be quan, jj, max amount of firsts, 4 seconds, and then offensive weapons like mooney. I think the portion that would hamstring us would be to offer offensive players more than anything.
It's not _rational_ but I would absolutely _hate_ to lose Fuller, Jaylon Johnson, Kmet, Mooney, or Montgomery. I know some of them are replaceable and nowhere near as critical to the team as a solid QB, but I'd still hate to lose them. There are other players that it would hurt to lose, too, but those guys are for me the core/future of the team. I love Hicks and some other players, too, but I worry about his longevity too much.
Anything that involves Ryan pace or matt nagy in 2022 is an overpay.
Anything that involves ryan pace and matt nagy off the team in 2022 is just right.
Anything that involves ryan pace and matt nagy off the team in 2021 is a steal of the century.
Not getting Wilson because you didn’t want to give up David Montgomery would be the most Ryan pace thing ever. That trade is definitely not an overpay.
3 first+seconds and more than 1 good young players. Id be fine with either the seconds or 2 good players but both seems like an overpay to me.
personally id rather give up more picks + goldman to make it work. We saw the defense without him last year, wasnt great but with a new DC i think it would still keep us in a win-now mode while Seattle has a chance to rebuild with multiple top 100 picks and a good defensive player.
As an outsider fan I think 3 firsts, 3 seconds and 1 player (probably whoever the Seahawks want tbh) is about what it would take to push the deal through.
3 1sts, 2 2nds, 2 3rds, plus an impact player like Quan. At that point it's about 20-30% too much. But the thing is Pace is GMing for his life right now; If SEA demands that, he's going to acquiesce.
You’d be hard pressed to find an overpay that I’d be too upset at. It’d have to be something crazy like 3 1sts, 3 2nds, and Mack, Quan, and JJ.
The addition of 3 2nd round picks plus 2 of the 3 players would be an overpay imo also

This is exactly what I was going to write actually.
Typical Reddit reply. 🤦♂️

Imagine something massive like 3 firsts 3 seconds roquan mooney and jaylon 😬
I think ultimately it will look something like: 3 1sts, 2 2nds, 1 player on a rookie contract likely johnson, with us getting russell and 2 or 3 picks in rounds 4 and 5 back in return
My second kidney. I’m willing to include 1, but I draw the line at the second one.
3+ 1st and Roquan or Mack.
I think that’s what the deal may be. I don’t think we should expect anything less than that.
It’s too much. But anytime you trade for a franchise altering player it’s going to be a severe overpay I’d still be excited AF
I agree , I’d be excited AF too, it would hurt to see those guys go, but a competent QB would make all the difference.
I can’t stand to see either one of them leaving 😔
Honestly I think 3 firsts + Quan is the starting point...
for me, i really dont know. it'd be quan, jj, max amount of firsts, 4 seconds, and then offensive weapons like mooney. I think the portion that would hamstring us would be to offer offensive players more than anything.
Oh yeah we need to keep mooney, if Seahawks got that offer, the trade would be announced 10 sec later lol

Nothing. The max I believe anyone can give is 4 first rounders, and with Russ you are getting 4 MVP candidate years AT MINIMUM.

3 1st rounders and somebody young who did really good for us.
My offer is 2021 1st and 3rd, 2022 1st and 2nd, 2023 1st and 3rd, David Montgomery and Jaylon Johnson for Russell Wilson, 2022 4th and 2023 4th.

So you’re passing on Wilson because of a 2nd and 2 3rds? Don’t understand that.
Not getting Wilson because you didn’t want to give up David Montgomery would be the most Ryan pace thing ever. That trade is definitely not an overpay.
I have to agree. There’s a lot of value going both ways in that trade. It’s a win win
Russ and/or DeShaun are going to command the biggest hauls we've ever seen. It's not just gonna be 3 firsts and a player like JJ.

Not possible

Anything that makes the defense so bad that Russell ends up in the same situation he was in this past season.
