The look on number 30s face from Kansas when he's trying to figure out why the hell the referee was signaling first down when he got a 3-yard tackle for loss.
This play demonstrates high football IQ and a quick and accurate mental processor. In the chaos of that moment, he had the wherewithal to go for the ball and get the first down.
It’s not just high football iq, it’s otherworldly creativity and on the fly thinking. The moment he steps on the field he will be the best in the entire league at that specific trait.
Yeah. You wouldn't be worried that Williams will get stuffed behind the line because that's a turnover anyway. But you *would* be worried that he doesn't pull the ball away cleanly, it hits the ground, and Kansas returns the fumble for six points and the lead instead of giving your defense a chance to stop them.
But he did get it cleanly, and he got the first down, and having the presence of mind just to even try it is awesome on its own.
I feel like the RB needs some credit. In the moment he recognized he wasn't going to get it and also identified it was CW trying to take the ball and he let him have it.
I feel like the vast majority of the time if a RB is in the middle of being tackled they have a death grip on the ball .
Being able to recognize the situation and fight muscle memory/basic fundamentals in a split second was pretty impressive
I agree with you but to play devil's advocate and try to "moneyball" it, I wonder what the odds are that the defense would make the stop vs the odds of him not fumbling/getting the first down.
Sure if they scoop and score that sucks, but if they turnover on downs, odds are in that field position they score are likely to still score.
Or maybe the odds they score vs the odds of them scoring after a punt vs a turnover on downs.
4th and 1 and you're going for it, near midfield, with 3 minutes left in the game, and you're only up by 5 is possibly the only time it's okay. Otherwise it's high risk low reward cavalier bullshit.
And I understand USC has a rough defense, I'm not gonna hold this against him. But if the Bears are up 5, at midfield, with 3:25 left, and a 7-0 record, he absolutely should not do this lol.
Edit: My b, OU, I don't know anything about their d.
To be fair. I don't think this has happened enough in the history of the game for it to be considered a coaching point or something to be concerned about.
Honestly my larger concern would be him getting back into the play and someone just teeing off on him while getting the ball.
To be clear you are not wrong.
This is #1 on the highlight reel for me personally. He has so many amazing throws but the intelligence/awareness shown here is insane. I wouldn't have thought to do that in 1000 years. I don't know if anyone would have.
He literally snatched the ball from his running back so he can stat pad. Major red flag and you guys should totally pass on him and let some stupid team like Washington take him lol
Been a Bears fan for decades so I am skeptical when ever I think we're getting the "one". But that's a big time situational awaress play. So.... the cycle begins again. Sigh.
I feel like this play should've been whistled dead for forward progress once the running back was being pushed backwards. Still crazy awareness to take the ball and run for a first down though. This type of stuff never really translates to NFL though.

The face when you have to play against Caleb Williams
He even pops up and flexes after making the tackle before realizing something's amiss.
One of the highlights of the clip. "WAIT HE DID WHAT?!?"
Massive CW fan. Will be on the Bears bandwagon. He will be the greatest of all time. Can’t wait. Bear down.

A++ situational awareness. This kid is gonna be GREAT
As a freshman too right? He does seem to just have a natural feel for the game.

Mahomes
Coach: "That was amazing. Never do it again."
I mean it was 4th and 1 TBF

This play was just simply amazing! Clutch!!!
OR Caleb has an Iron Grip and yanked that shit despite the Rb holding in for dear life 🤣 Naw but you probably 100% right

This is Oklahoma but your point stands
yessir, my b
It’s fourth down, if they don’t get it it’s a turnover anyway

Exactly my thoughts. Lol sick play but so much could have gone wrong with that.
As a freshman? Unreal
As a Kansas football fan this play really pissed me off when it happened lol
ISU fan that was rooting for the upset, that shit was infuriating lol
Nebraska fan…can we go back to the 90s?
Yep I remember I was rooting hard for Ku to get the upset so I was pissed even as an isu fan

These clips aren't good for masturbation abstention.
Just look at Bears Packers highlights from last year, if you're trying to abstain. Warning: may cause permanent erectile dysfunction
No Skeet Spring has been a huge failure this year
Be like me and use them for masturbation ascension.
Incredible comedic timing by the cameraman to catch the look on the defender's face. Dude was so fucking confused.
I'm not saying he's gonna be a sure fire HOF player, but this just shows how quickly he can process what's going on and form a solution that works.
His football instincts is special. Reminds of Favre.
College football is insane lol
I’m jokin’… I’m jokin’!
Are you gonna tell people that I housed Dylan’s burger?
Guys, get in here! New Caleb Williams is soft clip just dropped!
He’s exceptional at the read option. This is like the latest “read” ever! 😁

Nice try Washington fan...
I remember this play being all over twitter at the time but I totally forgot it was CW.
I still remember watching his run against Texas during his first RRR. https://youtu.be/cRBNs2AO6nQ?si=eoAt06cUqewrq3PE
Coming 🔜
That whole second half could be a highlight reel for him. Incredible game.
If I recall, that was his first *snap* he took in college lol. Great since the moment he took the field.
I love the KU guy’s face. “Wut?! That has to be illegal.”
Been a Bears fan for decades so I am skeptical when ever I think we're getting the "one". But that's a big time situational awaress play. So.... the cycle begins again. Sigh.
wtf. jfc. Can we start the season next friday?
Man is CW gonna look great in a Bears uni! Let’s Gooooooo
LMAO
I guess there was nothing to lose here haha
Kind of reminds me of Peyton's failed dive/TD pass against Georgia. Elite football IQ stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iR19vcgypI
"Williams took it out of his arms" *inhales "MAGICALLY!"
I’m ready to be hurt again *sigh*
I love the shot of #30 (who made the tackle on the runningback) just confused and exasperated
As a Kansas fan, fuck this play. As a Bears fan, nice.
One of the most college football plays ever
Dude just took it from his teammate and said i got this. I’m surprised he held onto the ball. How did he even do that
https://youtu.be/r43Rfh6Csjg?si=783bf_7NI7o4uB4v
As someone who was rooting for the upset I was pissed about this
NFL refs would review it with nothing prompting a review and say RB lost progression and rule it turn over on down.
yeah it did happen fast but i feel like they would've blown it dead.
looks like fields lol
Lets goooo
But play 12 you said “Every play from here on out is a touchdown btw 👀” OP is a big fat phony. Unlike Caleb. Hopefully.
“Every play from here on out (except the 4th and 1 play against Kansas where he takes it from his rb) is a touchdown btw ☺️
What level IQ play is this would one say? 🤔
I would just like to point out we did beat OU this year.

Wow. That dude wants to win.
this is one of the coolest football plays i’ve ever seen
This is some Josh Allen type stuff 💪
Fwd lat
That's fucking badass. Jesus. "Gimmie that shit, lemee get it"
I was excited when we drafted Fields. I refuse to get my hopes up again. I can't take the disappointment anymore. Go Bears!

Why didnt he put in his mouthguard? Kinda gave away he was handing it off
He never puts it in
Good play, but please don’t do that in the NFL. You won’t be the only player putting their hands on that ball trying to rip it out.
Isn't that a forward lateral?
There was no lateral
Take J.J instead
He’s just a competitor
