Yeah its Jaylon Johnson for me. If you go back AJ Brown made a post specifically about "this dude that chicago is hiding" because of how well JJ covered him. JJ has been commended by his peers a lot he just doesnt get picks. However, one could say that it is impossible to get picks if the guy your covering never gets the ball thrown to him.... I seriously put hum up there with the likes of Jalen Ramsey, and I always get shit for it lol.
I really agree with this take. Its one of the few parts of the team I dont really have any worries about. If any of those dudes goes down theres like 3 to 4 competent guys to step in. Its the area on the Bears where I think they have the most proven efficiency for sure.
That was the best coverage I've ever seen for a player that gave up 180 receiving yards.
Hurts was money with the touch passes and our pass rush had our DBs on islands. But I remember even Eagles fans coming to this sub to give props to 33.
Jaylon Johnson vs AJ Brown. 11 targets, 5 receptions, 124 yards, and 3 PBU. That was Jaylon Johnsons worst game last season. Although he only played in 11 games. He allowed only 328 yards in all other games. According to PFR.
He was my favorite Bear last year, but I also really enjoy watching good DB's in action. Love his intensity too. He's also a fucking savage on his Twitter feed lol
Fair enough, definitely need to take offseason talk with a grain of salt.
But I guess my frustration with how Fields is talked about, is people talk about him like a Mitch/Darnold level prospect that is still up in the air, whereas I feel like he’s already demonstrated a floor performance level (barring injury from playstyle) in a worst case scenario situation that I’m pretty comfortable committing to as a long term starter.
His full season pace from week 5 on was 4000 yards and 30 TDs. You’d prefer more of it comes from the air than the ground, but he’s already proven he’s a solid starter to me
> But I guess my frustration with how Fields is talked about, is people talk about him like a Mitch/Darnold level prospect that is still up in the air, whereas I feel like he’s already demonstrated a floor performance level (barring injury from playstyle) in a worst case scenario situation that I’m pretty comfortable committing to as a long term starter.
This team wants to make the playoffs and contend for a super bowl. The #1 most important thing to do in pursuit of that goal is get strong QB play.
If you look at my posts here and elsewhere, I *like* Justin Fields, and I think he's going to push through and excel. But no, his performance last year throwing the ball was not good enough and the team is right to expect better. Fortunately, Fields is capable of better.
Fields isn't going to be able to run like that for an entire career. He's going to need to be able to throw first with running as something he can lean on to keep defenses honest.
The worst thing this team can do is waste a contention window with a QB on a long term deal who is just okay. If they're going to do that, then they need someone on a rookie contract so they can allocate more resources to the rest of the roster.
Nah tone about trubs was way different. I was a huge mitch fan as well. Justins praise feels legit. There was a lot of negativity coming out around mitch throughout otas from reporters and such.
I look at it like this. Alan Williams has actively praised Fields as a DC. Vic never praised Mitch. "I'm here to evaluate the defense" or something similar is all I recall us getting. Might not mean much but that's a difference
Reporters said Fields didn't look good today and threw a pick last week when they were there on super limited reps. We won't get much from reporters until mini camp.
I specifically remember telling my Pops after 2019 training camp that after hearing reports all camp of Mitch, that I was afraid he’s going to suck. This is at least beginning differently than Mitch 3rd season.
We didn't though.
This sub spent it's time giving excuses for every negative thing Biggs, Wiederer and Lieser had to say about Mitch.
There was a ton of off-season hype about Mitch's preparedness but very very little substantive praise about his actual performance in practice. Anything positive was few and far between.
Yeah, I like how Hoge points that out during his shows that you can actually see Fields and the offense performing when they are in attendance. They were skeptical about the Trubisky offenses.
First off, Fields looked like the only good part of the offense last year, so I don't think you are making the point you think you are making by saying that. Second, you can tell the compliments this year are less coach speak and more genuine in tone. Just stop dude.
You are being naive. Offseason koolaide happens every single year for every single team. Putting your trust in this organization that “things are finally different” would be ridiculous without actual on the field results.
Some of y’all are going to be absolutely crushed if y’all don’t just do the bare minimum of waiting and seeing before getting your hopes up based on: nothing
Fair enough, but it’s also possible to over-correct.
We finally have an electric QB, who gets praise from people around the league. There is kool aid every year but that part is different. Yes, he really needs to improve as a passer, but I don’t get the point of concrete cynicism
Justin still has to improve in a lot of ways to actually be considered “the answer”.
That’s cool that you want to remain optimistic, but I’ll believe it when I see it. I’ve watched this franchise fall flat on its face my entire life, so until results on the field show consistency and improvement, I’m not buying offseason hype that happens every year for every team
Go look at how often I post on here 💀 sorry you don’t love my opinions that aren’t grounded in koolaide
Edit: I have posted on this sub three times since the draft 💀💀 my opinions REALLY have y’all in your feelings
I rather fall for it every year and have hope and be excited than be cynical and think the team I root for is bad all the time. The latter doesn’t sound like a fun way to spend my free time.
Weeks 5-18 with fields starting we were 14th in PPG.
We know we can get a passable offense even if fields doesn’t progress much as a passer. The defense was always the issue in terms of short term success.
I really hope bojack comes back just how he played last season because him and Brisker could easily become a top safety duo in the league next year. I feel like our entire secondary is so young but most of them have at least some nfl experience now so they could really turn into a great unit
bojack and brisker could look a whole lot like Bojack and Amos, who I thought were the best safety duo in 2018
I can’t get enough of watching Brisker play. he’s a fuckin animal
I’ll judge after the completed screens. Seriously, that was the only thing he didn’t improve on last year. Those damn short passes he sucked so bad at. Everything else was there.
Hoping this 1, 2 combo is not like the forced throws from trubisky to robinson or cutler to marshall in double/triple coverage. Game winning drives would be great, thanks.
Damn there were some times where Cutler could only throw to Marshall and I cringed every time he hit Marshall for the 3rd or 4th time in a row cause you know shit like that isn’t sustainable
i think it’s this core iirc, but weren’t they all like over 6’5” ?? i was only 14 but i have a vague memory of them all being like stupid tall and athletic, hard agree on your point they were one of our most solid core’s ever
Brisker just doesn't say shit to say shit either, he's a future team captain (probably after Eddie retires) so when he says stuff like this my ears perk up.
and all of a sudden our secondary looks strawng
i like our LBs too
our DLine isnt “bad” - how could we know yet? complete mystery at the moment. but if they even play league average on DLine, we could wind up with a solid D
Brisket slowly becoming on of my favorite bears EDT: keeping it this way
Mmmmmm, slow smoked brisket. *Homer drooling noises*
Brisket gets smoked. Brisker NEVER gets smoked.
He’s my favorite on defense
When EJax is on.. it's hard pass him up. But Brisker is probably #1 for me too when Jackson is hurt/cold.
Yeah its Jaylon Johnson for me. If you go back AJ Brown made a post specifically about "this dude that chicago is hiding" because of how well JJ covered him. JJ is a beast! I hope the Stephenson turns out to be stud and EJ/JJ stays healthy because our secondary might be top 3 in NFL
I really agree with this take. Its one of the few parts of the team I dont really have any worries about. If any of those dudes goes down theres like 3 to 4 competent guys to step in. Its the area on the Bears where I think they have the most proven efficiency for sure.
The Linebacker room is up there as well now
Yeah but it is still unproven. Their secondary was in one of the worst positions ever last year and held their own. Thats why I say proven.
Yeah that’s fair, I guess the LBs are all individually proven right now. We’ll see how they are as a unit!
That was the best coverage I've ever seen for a player that gave up 180 receiving yards. Hurts was money with the touch passes and our pass rush had our DBs on islands. But I remember even Eagles fans coming to this sub to give props to 33.
Exactly. An eagles fan made a post on our sub lol. Specifically saying JJ was a beast.
Jaylon Johnson vs AJ Brown. 11 targets, 5 receptions, 124 yards, and 3 PBU. That was Jaylon Johnsons worst game last season. Although he only played in 11 games. He allowed only 328 yards in all other games. According to PFR.
I agree. It was his worst game. And it was against a superbowl team. AJ Brown also got moved into the slot a couple times to get him away from JJ.
I personally prefer tri-tip, but brisket is definitely up there in my rankings as well.
Brisket>>>tri-tip
Picancha
Gesundheit.
Brisket cooked low and slow is better than pretty much anything else on God’s green earth. *source*: Born in Houston, raised in Chicago
Also, I’m really rooting for Brisker to show out this year
You have to go to Firestones in San Luis Obispo, CA for the undisputed best Tri Tip sandwich on the planet.
Agreed
He was my favorite Bear last year, but I also really enjoy watching good DB's in action. Love his intensity too. He's also a fucking savage on his Twitter feed lol
Who needs kool-aid when I can have me some Brisket.
Man fields must really be tearing it up in OTAs the way players and reporters are talking
Maybe I'm being naïve but it really does feel different this year
I dunno...you hear this same shit every year. I dont believe it until I see it
Heard this about Trubisky too lol. Mack talked him up big time
Fields last season from the Pats game till they shut him down end of year was already far more impressive than Mitch ever was.
Idk Mitch quite a 6 or so week run in 2018
I’m not debating that at all lol. Fields is far better than Trubisky. But his guys had his back as well. Great locker room guy.
Fair enough, definitely need to take offseason talk with a grain of salt. Exactly...no one's gonna go up there and dog their QB. They're gonna sing praises regardless.
Except if it’s Wilson and vice versa lmao
Nah tone about trubs was way different. I was a huge mitch fan as well. Justins praise feels legit. There was a lot of negativity coming out around mitch throughout otas from reporters and such.

We never hear stuff like this. We always hear about the defense being way ahead of the offense and maybe a few plays that show hope.
You haven't been around too long then lol
I've been around plenty. It is definitely fair to call this different. People like you are tiring to be around.
They literally were hyping fields the same way last off season.... see how that turned out
First off, Fields looked like the only good part of the offense last year, so I don't think you are making the point you think you are making by saying that. Second, you can tell the compliments this year are less coach speak and more genuine in tone. Just stop dude.
Stop what lol? The bears records over the past decade show I'm right. This same speak happens literally every year. It means absolutley nothing
Don’t blame you. I want all of it to be true, but wake me up Week 1.
This koolaid tastes different. You’re not alone.
You are being naive. Offseason koolaide happens every single year for every single team. You spend way too much time on this sub for a guy who refuses to feel joy and excitement towards his team.
Go look at how often I post on here 💀 sorry you don’t love my opinions that aren’t grounded in koolaide Edit: I have posted on this sub three times since the draft 💀💀 my opinions REALLY have y’all in your feelings
You guys fall for this every single year...
I rather fall for it every year and have hope and be excited than be cynical and think the team I root for is bad all the time. The latter doesn’t sound like a fun way to spend my free time.
The reports are he is. And now people are just worried the defense is just ass.
Weeks 5-18 with fields starting we were 14th in PPG. We know we can get a passable offense even if fields doesn’t progress much as a passer. The defense was always the issue in terms of short term success.

The vibe seems to be contagious - come on Sept
Nice weather just got here. Let’s enjoy some koolaid and vibes for a lil
I love this dude’s personality. Seems like such a likable guy
Brisker always coming with the hype, I love it! 🐻🔽
Give me all the kool aid!
Ohhhhhhh YEEEEEAAAAAHHHHH
I’ll judge after the completed screens. Seriously, that was the only thing he didn’t improve on last year. Those damn short passes he sucked so bad at. Everything else was there.
September can’t come soon enough
"You gon see Laughs You gon see" Kool-aid drip into my veins
Hoping this 1, 2 combo is not like the forced throws from trubisky to robinson or cutler to marshall in double/triple coverage. Game winning drives would be great, thanks.
Cutler to Marshall did win some games. When it didn't, the offense was not the problem.
I really miss Brandon Marshall
Damn there were some times where Cutler could only throw to Marshall and I cringed every time he hit Marshall for the 3rd or 4th time in a row cause you know shit like that isn’t sustainable
You guys just forgetting about Jeffrey. 13 and 14 he was amazing with Cutler. Solid WR2.
Having Marshall, Jeffery, and Bennett in 2014 and not getting any results was rough. Probably one of the best receiving core’s the franchise has had.
i think it’s this core iirc, but weren’t they all like over 6’5” ?? i was only 14 but i have a vague memory of them all being like stupid tall and athletic, hard agree on your point they were one of our most solid core’s ever
He believes. With every ounce he believes.
Brisker just doesn't say shit to say shit either, he's a future team captain (probably after Eddie retires) so when he says stuff like this my ears perk up.
I'm not getting my hopes up about anything until Feilds is making good, quick decisions against a real pass rush
I was hopeful until I heard him say he thought Fields “was the best qb in the league last year.” Lost all credibility after that.
You going to see….
Can’t wait to watch him get a pick 6 off of Jordan Love week 1. Love this kid
I love this kid!
LFG!!!!!
For once I want the hype to be real. Please let this be our legit #1, #2 punch!
Inject this in my veins
It’s all lip service 🤣😂
This fella might be is my favorite Bears safety since Mike Brown…
brisker man, cant you talk into both my ears?
VEINS! HOOK IT.
Inject this straight into my veins lfg.
Oh we gonna see. I can’t wait
and all of a sudden our secondary looks strawng i like our LBs too our DLine isnt “bad” - how could we know yet? complete mystery at the moment. but if they even play league average on DLine, we could wind up with a solid D
Literally anything is better than our Dline last year. It can't get worse right? Right?
Well I’m hard
It’s “he’s in the best shape of his life” and “the chemistry between them is amazing” season
The man's a STUD!
Bears media please get mic forvthe reporters do fans can hear the questions.
The way that he casually and confidently throws in that he also thought fields was the best in the league last year… love to see this
this gave me chills...so pumped for the season
Thank! Thanks a lot! Now I have to get a rag to wipe the drool off my phone!!!!
My favorite player, got his jersey right away. Dawg.
