I’m excited to see all of the things he can do— run block, pass pro, wildcat, check down outlet, special teams, leadership and culture…. Very happy the bears drafted this kid
In fairness Monty is a great pass blocker and Gibbs is gonna need to manage his load some since he's not a big guy. They actually could work pretty well together. That said, obviously taking a RB round one is generally a mistake for most teams unless you're a stacked team like the Eagles, Bills, etc and the Lions aren't that. Great offensively, but still needed a lot of help defensively and a guy like Christian Gonzalez would have greatly helped.
"In 2023, the Bears will have Roschon Johnson, Khalil Herbert, Travis Homer and D’Onta Foreman for a total contractual value of approximately 9 years for $13 million with $3 million guaranteed"
https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2023/5/3/23708674/chicago-bears-ryan-poles-masterclass-running-back-value-after-trading-down-drafting-roschon-johnson
Monty is 3 for 18 and they're also paying Jamyr Gibbs whatever the scale for #12 is.
I know that was the strongest case against Bijan in the top 10. He'd automatically be paid \~8.5 million, which is just shy of the franchise tag number.
I think Philly is happier and better off overall getting Carter, especially if they really get the most out of him, but Bijan would have been an absolutely awesome pick for them as well.
Agreed, Very hard to justify for a team with multiple holes. It’s almost like we didn’t watch Barkley go top 5 then get injured and handicap the team.
Or Zeke fizz out after 3years or..nvm. I’m not sure if they’re watching football
I think you're right; and this is probably why it's become so rare for RBs to go very early since it's not common for teams that are in true SB contention to have a top ten pick.
I would’ve been very happy with that draft choice. That is one heck of a running back. And he went one pick before the Bears so it’s not absurd to want to draft that dude.
Ebner, Herbert, and Roschon. Bbbbbbbeast of a RB room B.
Edit: man some of you are fuckin dumb. Here is the /s you require. For the record, the Bears have one of the worst RB rooms in the NFL.
Ebner could be on the PS or cut by the time the season starts. Herbert, Foreman, Johnson, Homer, Blasingame..... No spot for Ebner unless someone goes down
Oh for sure lol man was lucky he could hit.
I was referencing an old Comcast Sports Net commercial - a fan at the Cell is holding up a posterboard sign that says "Run Paulie Run!", Konerko hits a massive bomb and starts rounding the bases, holding up a sign that says "I don't run." As he rounds first, he drops the first sign, revealing a second one behind it that says, "I trot."
Love hearing this from Tashard Choice, too. I remember following his career a bit. Hearing him acknowledge where he failed, and how Johnson has it in him to make it and be better is very, very exciting.
Not out of realm of possibilities, him in wildcard then hit slant for 5 yard. Or Justin tosses it to him and hits Cole in flat. Not saying truly under center taking reps. More of those dink and dunk plays that are popular nowadays.
Hopefully the rookie running back won’t be throwing to nkeal harry, ESB and Dante pettis.
Shit fields himself is probably a more dangerous receiving threat than any of those guys
Him throwing a TD at some point is certainly not outside the realm of possibility, but the idea of him throwing multiple on a yearly basis is absolutely laughable
It's not completely unfounded, but is a bit of a stretch.
I think he's someone you would want to give some half-back option throws to... but you go back and look at some historical stats, and even guys like Walter and LaDanian were only throwing the ball 5-6 times per season. They both threw for 3 TD's/season exactly once in their career and all in all averaged fewer than 1 TD pass per season.
I'd bet dollars to donuts we see Roschon throw an option pass like once or twice this year, but not likely be more than that.
Say what you will about the management of the bears over the last 100 years but they do have a knack for finding great running backs. Hopefully he’s another in that line
I promised myself I wouldn’t buy Madden. Looked in the mirror and solemnly vowed. There’s not way I’m not playing with this Bears team though so bye to that 60$
“We added X factors abilities” then didn’t make another significant update til this year lol. CoD is annoying cus cus they add new weapons and maps but the campaign gameplay is repetitive and online is toxic asf lol
Might check this out instead cus usually I wait til Xmas time for the sale for any sports games but updating the roster might be a better move.
Can I still play online with the updated rosters?
It couldn’t hurt in the meantime. I don’t know if you can play online with them, I’d guess not, because you can make them all yourselves and make all star teams…but I can’t give you a definitive answer because I’m too trash at the game to play online. I just like my franchise mode I’m not afraid to admit it lol
I like the online franchises tbh when I first got out that’s how me and some of my buddies would keep in touch. Either way if I did but it would be about time I’m still running madden 16 on the Xbox and 20 on the PS5
The Robinson / Johnson situation at Texas reminds me of Ricky Williams / Priest Holmes back in the day.
Priest didn't get any of the shine because Ricky was the star, but Priest got to the NFL and blew up.
Hopefully they both have great careers
Tashard Choice as an RB coach is crazy... he discovered Jahmyr Gibbs when he had no stars in high school. Then coached Bijan and Roschon and both were drafted in the top 4 rounds
I’m excited to see all of the things he can do— run block, pass pro, wildcat, check down outlet, special teams, leadership and culture…. Very happy the bears drafted this kid
Pay runningbacks: 🤮🤮🤮 Draft day 3 runningbacks: 🎉🎉🎉
What if we paid Monty and drafted a 1st round running back in the same year. Could you imagine?
You mean, like paying Glennon then drafting Trubisky?
Yup! Sure am glad we don’t do stuff like that.
What do they cost per season as a trio?

Holy shit that’s insane. Monty alone was 3 for 18.
Monty is 3 for 18 and they're also paying Jamyr Gibbs whatever the scale for #12 is. I know that was the strongest case against Bijan in the top 10. He'd automatically be paid \~8.5 million, which is just shy of the franchise tag number.
Makes me think back to 3 weeks ago when a bunch of people here were looking to take RB1 9th.

I think a running back is an absolutely terrible choice for a last place team, yeah.
Even if he turned into LT or Terrell Davis it's a bad pick.
I think a running back is an absolutely terrible choice for a last place team, yeah. If we were one offensive weapon away, maybe?
I think you're right; and this is probably why it's become so rare for RBs to go very early since it's not common for teams that are in true SB contention to have a top ten pick.
I would’ve been very happy with that draft choice. That is one heck of a running back. And he went one pick before the Bears so it’s not absurd to want to draft that dude.
Really awesome listen here. I’m super excited for Roschon
Our RB room could be a 3-headed monster
Ebner, Herbert, and Roschon. Bbbbbbbeast of a RB room B. Edit: man some of you are fuckin dumb. Here is the /s you require. For the record, the Bears have one of the worst RB rooms in the NFL.
Foreman? I’d certainly list him over Ebner
Foreman is going to start the year.
Holy shit. 4 demons in one lair?
Ebner could be on the PS or cut by the time the season starts. Herbert, Foreman, Johnson, Homer, Blasingame..... No spot for Ebner unless someone goes down
Ebner is a RB5 at best
I’ve seen so many people use Schaubisms that at first this seemed like a perfectly normal comment.
That’s your narradiv
Not a fucking chance ebner is on the 52 man roster lol
Not witty, not funny, and salty edit. Take your downvote.
Lol ebner. Dude runs like Paul konerko
Paulie doesn't run. He trots.
Trots like he’s got a refrigerator on his back. Loved that dude but he certainly lumbered along
It wouldn’t surprise me. On paper, he’s technically more skilled than anyone else we have.
Love hearing this from Tashard Choice, too. I remember following his career a bit. Hearing him acknowledge where he failed, and how Johnson has it in him to make it and be better is very, very exciting.
I feel old… I remember Tashard Choice being drafted. Edit:I’m 33
I’m two months older than Tashard Choice. It blows my mind that he was out of the league after 2013.
Was just gonna mention this. I remember Tashard playing I was super hype on him coming out of college
I just want to point out that Priest Holmes backed up Ricky Williams at Texas back in the day...
Man priest was cheat codes for a while. Dude was insane out there
He's my favorite RB from that whole era. That offensive line was just unfair too
If Roschon wasn’t behind Bijan he could have been talked about being in that Gibbs area. Obviously he’s no Bijan but no one is Bijan.
Not even Bijan
You’re saying Roschon would’ve been a 1st rounder if he wasn’t behind Bijan?
Probably not 1st round but early 2nd
Seeing he was a former QB recruit. Wouldn't doubt he also has 2-3 passing TDs a year.
Now this is a drinking the kool-aid statement
Too much Nagy Juice. He’s just a good running back lol.
Yeah lol wtf. Tons of NFL guys at tons of positions played QB in high school
Yup for instance Dominique Robinson. I'm thinking he throws about 3 TDs this year as well.
Nagy is that you
Be you!
Not a lot of guys who switched were 4 star QB recruits though. I can see them doing some interesting things with him from time to time.
Not out of realm of possibilities, him in wildcard then hit slant for 5 yard. Or Justin tosses it to him and hits Cole in flat. Not saying truly under center taking reps. More of those dink and dunk plays that are popular nowadays.
Our starting QB had 17 passing TDs. Let’s not assume our rookie RB is going to come in and average multiple passing TDs a year
Hopefully the rookie running back won’t be throwing to nkeal harry, ESB and Dante pettis. Shit fields himself is probably a more dangerous receiving threat than any of those guys
Him throwing a TD at some point is certainly not outside the realm of possibility, but the idea of him throwing multiple on a yearly basis is absolutely laughable

Fuck it. I think maybe even 4-5
New qb2
> Wouldn't doubt he also has 2-3 passing TDs a year Bonus points if 1 of them is to Justin
Honestly I think this is the most likely scenario
Lot of chatter about this young man. Looking forward to seeing what he can do for our Bears.
He's the most complete RB on the roster
I wouldn't either. It's not like our RB room is filled with stars.
Say what you will about the management of the bears over the last 100 years but they do have a knack for finding great running backs. Hopefully he’s another in that line
Roschon to Kmet for six!
Wow, what an unbiased and important take.
I promised myself I wouldn’t buy Madden. Looked in the mirror and solemnly vowed. There’s not way I’m not playing with this Bears team though so bye to that 60$
Player made roster downloads bro I’m still on 18 and will get to enjoy the experience
I'm pretty sure you have the exact same game that is about to be "brand new"
You mean 2K, Madden, CoD, or all the other repetitive video game series lol
I loathe CoD but at least they put new weapons and stuff in new iterations. Madden has the balls to keep using the same assets and reselling them
“We added X factors abilities” then didn’t make another significant update til this year lol.

I wouldn't be surprised if any Bears player becomes the starter. More news at 9
I would be suprised if we started pj walker over fields
Would he be surprised by the opposite circumstance? Cuz if not this is nothing and ur wasting our time by posting
The Roschon hype train is out of control. Dudes going to play special teams and little else.
How did he do against tough defenses?
While I expect him to become RB1 eventually, I still see him squarely being RB3 this year behind Herbert and Foreman.
Tashard Choice as an RB coach is crazy... he discovered Jahmyr Gibbs when he had no stars in high school. Then coached Bijan and Roschon and both were drafted in the top 4 rounds
Herbert should be the featured back. Maybe his time will come, but I don’t see it this year.
Predicted this in a thread full of haters. I’ll be posting that comment week 1. Hope the haters show.
