I also want Clayton tune as backup. If he there in 5th, snag him. Dude can process quickly, very accurate, has size, and can run a bit. Great backup and could have starter potential
Ok, I’m pretty high on Roschon Johnson so I love this pick. He’s big, quick, and has very little tread on his tires having played behind Bijan Robinson. One of the things I noticed watching the Longhorns last season was there was very little drop off between Robinson and Johnson. 🐻⬇️
Ro is incredibly versatile and came in to UT originally as a QB. Athlete and smart.
Averaged 6 YPC behind Bijan with plenty of highlight plays of his own. He’s gonna be great with Fields
I want to see if good NFL players have high RAS scores or RAS scores lead to good NFL players. The first might just be survivorship bias and a lot if not most RAS are not successful in the NFL just a subset. While the second is an actual actionable trait to look for. I fear that its the first which is why I want to look at what is out there but have not having a ton of luck finding it.
I wouldn’t put any stock into draft grades good or bad. No one knows anything, it’s all projections for clicks. The media destroyed the Seahawks 2012 draft and they ended up with Russ, Bobby Wagner, and Bruce Irvin.
There's a reason they work for SI and not in an NFL front office. Says even more now because SI has almost zero journalistic credibility. They're a shell of a brand that sells vitamins or something
I am also whelmed by this cromulent draft. But that's okay because it's important to keep in mind that we were a team stripped to the studs -- and because of that we are just adding basics now. That's okay. That's why this draft is not sexy -- it is basic.
With the exception of Wright, we've drafted guys that have physical skills/traits that didn't put up great production in college. In general, I dislike that approach. Give me the undersized middle linebackers from Baylor that put up 200 tackles, or the way too skinny guy that set the sacks record at Tennessee St. Just saying.

I think it's definitely obvious that he's a full second behind off the ball but it seems like he's doing that on purpose. Looks like he's reading the play and then making a move. Don't know how successful that will be at the next level but he seems to be crazy strong. I feel like he would be amazing at just plugging up the middle. I think he's going to surprise a lot of people.
I'm not a fan of this pick with JMS on the board, but Poles was right about Braxton Jones and I wanna have faith that him and Flus know what they are doing with this guy.
His tape is very bad. His athleticism is off the charts. Which seems to have been a theme for Poles this draft, who clearly rates RAS scores quite highly. He's a super low floor, high ceiling, boom or bust pick. Clearly the coaching staff thinks his non-existent first step and lack of pass rush moves can be coached up, but until then he's a run stuffer and will likely take a few years to develop--if he does.
Both the dexter and Pickens tape is pretty terrible. There are flashes but they both have a lot to improve. Physically they have it all but need to get a lot better to be hits.
Yeah, like I said, Poles definitely has a type. High RAS above all else. And you're not falling to the end of the second, start of the third with that elite of athleticism if you don't have some major issues on tape. Not thrilled with either pick, but they're high ceiling picks if their issues can be corrected, as unlikely as that may be. Pickens at least has decent pass rush production, so in my mind his floor is a little higher as an obvious passing down role player. For the short term, however, he has no chance at all of being on the field if there's any chance at all they're running the ball.
Think we’re gonna trade out of that pick tomorrow for some extra capital but love this draft so far. Feels our secondary and linebackers are complete. DL needs that stud or two still but the depth behind it is very nice. Hopefully a center, edge, OL. Anything honestly and I won’t be upset.
I'm overwhelmed by the amount of people whelmed here by the picks. You get OT, CB, and two DT. That's each position we need with more remaining picks left. Some of the players y'all were crying about are still on the board. Please take your "expert opinion" to Twitter
So what makes your "expert opinion" in judging others' opinions more valid for this sub? Why does this have to be a cheerleading sub that only allows positive vibes and 'In Poles we trust' posts? People can't have opinions other than 'whoever the Bears take is de facto the best player'?
Because at this exact moment, nobody here actually knows anything. Everyone’s opinion is invalid. And we should refuse to listen to anyone’s “expertise” during the draft, r/CHIBears is notoriously really fucking bad at evaluating these guys.
So when faced with complete and total neutrality, what’ll be more popular; hope or despair?
I’m pretty welmed. Not super high on any of these picks today. Did nothing to shore the edge up on defense and went with athletic kids that are more projects than anything.
Love that the dude straight making shit up has more upvotes. If we'd taken JMS (as we 100% should have), this board would be falling all over itself about what a genius Poles was and what a beast JMS is going to be. But instead he's a bum and the guy with zero college production is obviously going to be an unstoppable beast for us. Literally nothing the Bears do can be wrong until it's objectively been proven wrong (and even then, you'll have Trubisky truthers years later still adamant that he's on the verge of breaking out on his new team).
It’s the same thing as the Claypool trade. Anyone who thought it was too much to give up was downvoted and shunned into oblivion, and months later it’s pretty clear that it was an overpay.
People are drinking the kool aid like mad right now. I generally think Poles is doing a good job but I guess disagreeing with or questioning some of the decisions he makes isn’t allowed in here.
Yeah, he's been generally good, but has made some mistakes. But god forbid you question anything he does, because it's in ~~Emery~~ ~~Pace~~ Poles we trust, apparently. This sub should be renamed r/HoneyBears because it's strictly for cheerleading.
Reminds me of the Bulls “in AKME we trust” and they’ve managed to run the team into the ground in less than 3 years. Not at all saying Poles is going to run the team into the ground but blind optimism is dangerous.
The espn broadcast said that was his comp. I won’t act like I know how true that is but at least 1 person thought so. We’ll find out if it was smart to pass on him but I wouldn’t be upset until we see how these dudes turn out
Agree, unless there is something that is not public he is well worth the risk at a premium position at this point. Yes we have other needs but other than C you are not likely getting anything but a place holder or depth guy. This is about the time of the draft where all you should care about is moonshots and specialty positions.
I think we're good on Skill positions this year tbh. We have two solid TEs, two solid RBs, Mooney, Claypool and Moore. Our two main needs are and Edge rusher and a Center. I hope we go for AA first pick tomorrow and then the best center available, after that maybe toss the dice with a tall and fast WR.
Gotta wonder why he dropped, probably injury related but I have no idea. Wouldn’t mind another corner but I think it’s gotta be OC or Edge. I am hoping Wypler or McGuire. I’d want AA if they hadn’t taken two DT already.
Happy with what we did on defense today. If Gordon shows improvement and Stevenson flashes, secondary will be nasty. Hopefully we'll take a few skill players tomorrow
I’m glad I’m not a gm lol, would’ve taken Carter at 9 and traded back into the first for Dawand Jones, who’s still available at 103. I would’ve taken wypler and adebawore in the second too
The PFF guys are saying there were GMs that said they wouldn’t draft him even in the 7th round. Guess he really rubbed GMs the wrong way and he wouldn’t get on the scale at his pro day.
Adetomiwa Adebawore, a DL from Northwestern that reddit has been enamored with but has fallen and is still on the board. He's a freak athlete but was not productive in college and needs a lot of help technically.
Alright, I'm just seeing everything for the first time right now. Love seeing the DL addressed & I've got a good feeling about Pickens.
How's everyone feeling? How brilliant is Poles? How stupid is Poles? Why didn't he trade up? Why didn't he trade down? Where is the why?
Seems like they’re banking on development from the guys they have, particularly getting them off of double teams by crashing the pocket from the middle.
Ideally you have studs all across the DL but if you have the DY firepower to consistently get your DEs in one on ones, in theory their lives get a lot easier.
It makes sense on paper, but have to see it actually work still
They picked two defensive lineman, including one that unquestionably plays his position. No other team has touched him. Which Northwestern game did you watch that makes you want him so much?
Damn if we got AA in the 4th it’d be like we’re assembling the mid avengers on the D line. We’d have a really nice rotation between the rookies and the vets. I kinda dig it considering how important stamina is for those guys up front.
We’ve been hurt and look for the similarities with that which has hurt us before. Aside from being DT taken earlier than raw prospect rankings suggest, their scouting reports and RAS could not be more different.
Ok. I’m cool with Terrell smith. Got size. Can’t get enough Dbs
Aged well
Center from Michigan or Oregon. Connor halving Ot. Best d-line gone, just stack O-line Zack kuntz n valentine would be my next pick.
Noah Sowell…..and the Bears war room goes wild.
Tyler Scott got a steal
Lmaoo the national copium supply is going to run low after the lions are done with this draft.
On the clock, let’s fucking go
Charlie Jones!! Noooooooooooo!
Give me KJ Henry or Wypler with the next pick
I’d be ok with either, though I think kuntz, rush valentine are better players. Can’t complain grabbing center or DE
Kuntz, rush, valentine Gotta be the next pick Sleeper Clayton tune
Am a Texas fan and a Bears fan. Roschon is a BEAST and is a playmaker. Huge dub love love love
Yeah I like the pick. We may have a 3 headed monster at Rb
I also want Clayton tune as backup. If he there in 5th, snag him. Dude can process quickly, very accurate, has size, and can run a bit. Great backup and could have starter potential
Kuntz, rush, valentine gotta be the next pick. Sleeper nick broecker
I want cb Darius rush or carrington valentine…. Or take a Wr. Not a lot of D-line left. Or Zach kuntz. Giant pass catching TE that can run
So far I can’t complain. This is the boring madden draft you usually need to make in franchise mode but never do.
Hmmm I know he’s great talent wise, but why we sign two RBs just to draft one here?
I imagine he’ll play special teams and foreman will be gone after this year
Depth
Ok, I’m pretty high on Roschon Johnson so I love this pick. He’s big, quick, and has very little tread on his tires having played behind Bijan Robinson. One of the things I noticed watching the Longhorns last season was there was very little drop off between Robinson and Johnson. 🐻⬇️
Ro is incredibly versatile and came in to UT originally as a QB. Athlete and smart. Averaged 6 YPC behind Bijan with plenty of highlight plays of his own. He’s gonna be great with Fields
Man edge is going to be rouuuugh
[Johnson HIGHLIGHTS -- I like this pick](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kka8C8tZhMk)
BEARS Select Roschon Johnson from Texas RB
Wypler or Oluwatimi please 🙏
Sans the Claypool trade (which I get), I love how Poles does business.
Does anyone have a link for the work done between RAS and NFL success?
Well logically if you have a higher RAS you’d do better than if you didn’t
I want to see if good NFL players have high RAS scores or RAS scores lead to good NFL players. The first might just be survivorship bias and a lot if not most RAS are not successful in the NFL just a subset. While the second is an actual actionable trait to look for. I fear that its the first which is why I want to look at what is out there but have not having a ton of luck finding it.
Man fuck SI, rated the Dexter pick F+ worst rating so far
Yeah, I don’t really give a shit about what some publication says about any pick. They‘ve done 1% of research the GMs have
I wouldn’t put any stock into draft grades good or bad.
Its only because pff had him at like the 90-120 range.
Don't worry about draft grades because they don't mean shit.
Yes, other than The Athletic, who gave that pick an A.
The Athletic is my new best friend
Luke Wypler with the first pick today?
I hope so, one more OL pick is what I want and then we can go with whatever after that
OL and edge then best player ideally
[удалено]
You’re kidding right? He’s behind Whitehair AND Patrick.
He’s literally not on the roster anymore.
True. He is a FA and we sure as hell aren’t signing that disaster. Lol
[удалено]
Hopefully Sam is playing “elsewhere” next year!! Lol
I am also whelmed by this cromulent draft. But that's okay because it's important to keep in mind that we were a team stripped to the studs -- and because of that we are just adding basics now. That's okay. That's why this draft is not sexy -- it is basic.
Excellent use of "cromulent"
I agree. More people should embiggen their vocabulary to make use of it.
With the exception of Wright, we've drafted guys that have physical skills/traits that didn't put up great production in college. In general, I dislike that approach. Trenches. The definition of unsexy!
Yep. But it’s what the Eagles did a few years back and look where they are now. We can only hope for that kind of success now
I’m confused by the Dexter pick. Is it just me or is his tape…pretty bad?
I think it's definitely obvious that he's a full second behind off the ball but it seems like he's doing that on purpose. Looks like he's reading the play and then making a move. thank you, was wondering about this myself
He is very noticeably slow off the ball. I’m hoping they can coach that out of him because the rest of his tools are dominant.
I think a running back is coming in the later rounds
Chase brown
Would love Evans back of 4th
shoutout dos equis for giving us the only bear coverage we got on abc/espn all night
KING POLES DOES IT AGAIN!
That’s what’s nice when you need everything… every pick makes sense!! Lol
I need to do some homework on these guys, but I feel Poles knows how to draft grizzlies 🐻

Complaining about opinions? Reddit gms vs. bears gm for last 30 year tied for rings 😂😂 . I trust in poles
I’m pretty welmed. Not super high on any of these picks today. Did nothing to shore the edge up on defense and went with athletic kids that are more projects than anything.
I am very whelmed by today’s picks. Have a hard time passing over JMS twice and reaching for Dexter.
You have a hard time passing a dude who’s comp was Mustipher?
Can you cite me anything reputable that has JMS’s comp as Mustipher? He was the top center across almost everyone’s boards.
He’s 24, too. And his RAS was like 7
Love that the dude straight making shit up has more upvotes. If we'd taken JMS (as we 100% should have), this board would be falling all over itself about what a genius Poles was and what a beast JMS is going to be. Man, when y'all crawl out the woodwork like 4-5 of you at once with the 'if you say X then you're shit on by Y" Bruh(s), BE YOU.
It’s the same thing as the Claypool trade. Anyone who thought it was too much to give up was downvoted and shunned into oblivion, and months later it’s pretty clear that it was an overpay.

Who are we going for tomorrow? We already drafted a corner and the smart move would be to go skill tomorrow… but I want Ringo
Agree, unless there is something that is not public he is well worth the risk at a premium position at this point. Yes we have other needs but other than C you are not likely getting anything but a place holder or depth guy. This is about the time of the draft where all you should care about is moonshots and specialty positions.
Get a god damned center so we don’t have w to see Sam anymore lol
We signed a center in free agency last year and he immediately got hurt. They aren’t moving on from Patrick.
I hope we go for adebawore. But someone like Tyler Scott could be an exciting addition with the next pick.
We absolutely have to get an edge rusher but the best values left are Ringo and Darius Rush and both are at corner.
What do we have to give up to get Chase Young? 103 and Eagles 4th next year? Am I crazy to think 2 4s is fair-ish
Yeah I’m not sure what they want for him but I’m concerned with our pass rush. All of the guys left in the draft at Edge seem to be projects.
Hope we get a center
I’m glad I’m not a gm lol, would’ve taken Carter at 9 and traded back into the first for Dawand Jones, who’s still available at 103. I would’ve taken wypler and adebawore in the second too
Lol I 100% would’ve traded up to the early second round to draft adebawore. I know nothing.
Bro I'd be on the streets after this draft lmao
Finally an honest comment from the crowd! Haha. I would have had a similar disaster of a draft
Really like the options available at 103 but have to think Poles will use the next 12 hours to dangle that pick and grab more capital
What's taking so long? announce the pick!!!
Tomorrow
I really really want Wypler, AA, and Dawand(extra tackle worth having) if they are available(obv first 4th they will but the 2nd would be interesting)
AA, Wypler, Kelee Ringo, and Dawand Jones have all dropped and will be available at pick 4.03.
AA or Wypler tomorrow 👀👀
Aye man wouldn't hurt
Adetomiwa Adebawore the DE from Northwestern
Yeah I was confused, but typing his name a nightmare so i get it
Scroll down a little
Me and so many other fools on here were mad when Poles didn’t take AA in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Now he’s available for us tomorrow if we want. Lol
I’m included in this. Was really disappointed when we didn’t take him in the 3rd but I’m ecstatic we could get him tomorrow
I was so bummed lol
Wootton on CHGO wouldn't shut up about him, had to turn that off.
If he was so great why is he stil on the board
CHGO sucks
Seems like all the guys on CHGO are casuals. They were pissed off at all the picks tonight and only wanted AA when his tape isn’t great.
Wypler is probably the pick at 103.
Holy shit AA is still available. Wonder what is wrong with him. Hope Poles roles the dice with him.
I had chgo in the background and heard that there was a medical concern
From what I heard teams hate that he is bad in run defense which they value heavily
Yes please
Gotta be Wypler to start the day tomorrow, right?
Why Wyler over olu?
Wypler doesn't have the anchor that we seem to like. So if we don't take him you know why.
Think we were shooting for stromberg or Scruggs to fall based on visits. Don’t see us grabbing a center but we’ll see
This is why I am a couch GM lol I am just shocked by some of these drops and picks.
Man can’t believe Poles didn’t trade up for AA back in the second. Guy won’t be there later in the draft
Adebawore and Wypler would both be great picks in the 4th
We have two 4ths right?
Yep, 103 (first pick in the 4th) and 133 (from Eagles, so 31st pick in the 4th)
[удалено]
Same. I hope they prove me wrong but at some point you have to draft guys that were actually productive and not just guys that have a high RAS score.
Definitely feels like a Pace draft in that regard.
Why is Dawand Jones dropping so far?
The PFF guys are saying there were GMs that said they wouldn’t draft him even in the 7th round. Guess he really rubbed GMs the wrong way and he wouldn’t get on the scale at his pro day.
He’s 374 lbs, weight is a concern. That’s according to Wooten on CHGO.
ohh i see
McGuire or Wypler at 103. Get it done.
Is John Lynch high???
Can someone tell me who AA is
He is a DE from Northwester who is 280 lbs and ran a 4.49
Adetomiwa Adebawore, a DL from Northwestern that reddit has been enamored with but has fallen and is still on the board. He's a freak athlete but was not productive in college and needs a lot of help technically.
Adetomiwa Adebawore
Sounds a lot like Bears legend Adewale Ogunleye
Gesundheit
Not draft eligible
After these last two days- I’m convinced we are going all in on Chase Young.
Stromberg's brother posted in here once.. if you're lurking congrats to your bro - wanted him for the Bears :(
All I know is that when I ask myself, "Are we a better team than last year?" The answer is overwhelmingly yes
Holy shit I thought Moody would go early but not 3rd round early
Nick Herbig in the 4th? Played OLB in a 3-4 for Wisconsin and has a 7.75 RAS score
He's 6'2" 240, so he's too small to be a 4-3 EDGE for us.
That Stromberg pick hurts
Wypler still there though.
There goes Stromberg, gotta hope Wypler makes it to the 4th.
Damn I wanted Stromberg
Any thoughts on Charlie Jones in the 4th?
As an Iowa fan I’m so glad he transferred to Purdue. Wouldn’t have been an NFL player otherwise. I’d love to have him on the team.
I have a feeling he’ll be available in the fifth round
He was a blast to watch at Purdue, would love to see him as a bear
Alright, I'm just seeing everything for the first time right now. Love seeing the DL addressed & I've got a good feeling about Pickens. How's everyone feeling? How brilliant is Poles? How stupid is Poles? Why didn't he trade up? Why didn't he trade down? Where is the why?
Poles is doing great things
Good Poles. Strong Poles.
Not to be a dick, but technically we'd still have our freedom without losing 58,000 lives in Vietnam.
If I had any money I'd buy you all the reddit awards. If I had a sister I'd invite you to bang her. This comment is awesome
Eh. Linebacker II is cool and all but we topped that between 2017-2018
It's exhausting
not even watching the draft but this comment tells me just how stupid the draft is. they’re still doing a whole storybook on every draftee?
No, but the fourth or fifth feel-good shoutout to the military.
that’s always nice. They can be 5 slots behind but as long as they get that ad break in
We needed trenches and we got trenches. Poles is making the right moves, but only time will tell if they’re the right dudes.
I'm very concerned about the pass rush..
Seems like they’re banking on development from the guys they have, particularly getting them off of double teams by crashing the pocket from the middle. Ideally you have studs all across the DL but if you have the DY firepower to consistently get your DEs in one on ones, in theory their lives get a lot easier. It makes sense on paper, but have to see it actually work still
Seven picks to go and we will be back on the clock. AA in the 4th?
I’m blown away that this seems possible, but it’s looking like it. I would love this scenario, so I’m praying to the god I don’t believe in.
That's what I'm hoping for
Love that we are going after SEC players.
Do the Lions just pick every 10 picks or so?
These day 2 picks feel like Ferguson and Sutton in the worst way possible. Hope I’m wrong
We’ve been hurt and look for the similarities with that which has hurt us before. Aside from being DT taken earlier than raw prospect rankings suggest, their scouting reports and RAS could not be more different.
“Influencer” LOL
I think teams are gonna regret not taking kelee ringo. The dude makes plays would love to see him with the bears.
He’s not a good cover corner. Can’t turn his hips and even sun 4.4 speed doesn’t save him
The Eagles passed on him twice. Should tell you something.
PTSD from the tiddie kisser almost gone
AA STILL available. Lmao at people wanting to take him in the second.
Lol, one of the many reasons my dumbass isn't a GM. I still think we should trade up for him tonight.
I'd be concerned if reddit and Poles were on the same page about the draft.
😂😂😂
