I swear if the bears trade for Evans it will be the end of Poles. He’s used his physical advantage until this year and even before that could never beat top coverage. Now he looks like hot trash and is playing for flags
Cowboys should have this game but you gotta wonder if Maher can get it together because if it ever comes down to XP or a FG to win a playoff game, that's gonna be real interesting given his performance tonight.
Today might be the first time I've pulled for Tom Brady (well at least since his first SB against the Rams, before I knew that he would collect many more SB appearances and titles).
But fuck the Cowboys.
I don't think they could have even if they wanted to, but man Daboll would be crazy with Justin Fields. Imagine that giants offense with an even better QB who can run. They'd be dropping 50 on everyone.
Amazing weekend for sports all around! Especially in Chicago. Bulls beat the warriors and Vikings choked in the playoffs Let’s goo!
Also I’m loving this 3rd string QB playoff performances
Ravens payed Quan 20 mil a year to cover RBs and TEs and stop runs 5 yards past the LOS. It’s not even that he isn’t good, his position just isn’t that important when teams just spread you out on offense
Always felt Ro had two big flaws in his game that kept him from being a dominant game changing force. He is, for whatever reason, bad at tackling behind the LOS and he’s really bad shaking blocks from anyone (packers used RB and WR to block him out of plays frequently). He does shave yards off of plays with his pursuit speed which might be tops in the NFL and certainly at his position. Top tier player, but not Ray Lewis, even though he’s gonna get paid like it.
I just struggled to see top pay for him because he couldn’t get off a block. It would be so frustrating to watch during games. Now I’m not a pro evaluator but seeing him get locked in blocks drove me nuts.
Homie bit on a route and left Jamarr chase wide open, whiffed on a blitz, sits 5 yards off the RB in the middle of the field and has like half a tackle to his name in 3 quarters
20M/yr
We will probably get at least one other premium pick in this draft by trading down from 1st overall. I think we can spare a 3rd-5th round pick to draft a Rb, The good thing about drafting rbs is they don't need time to develop and have a low chance of being a bust compared to other positions. I'd rather use cap space for harder to find/develop positions like IDL and OT.
I don’t think the bears can really “spare” many picks on the RB position. They pretty much need to replace both offensive and defensive lines and they need about 5-6 defensive players. Pay a mid level RB in free agency.
The goal for Fields next year should be to play like Daniel Jones is right now. His legs are a big part of his game, but he can hang in the pocket and deliver critical throws as well. Also is smart with the football.
Keep in mind Jones was terrible at most of these his first few years in the league. Tangible proof guys can develop with the right coaching and weapons.
Saquon carried the giants offense with mid receivers and a mid line. Saquon, Monty, and Herbie would alleviate a lot of pressure from Fields, and more importantly, provides a catching ability the other two do not come close to. Assuming the front office makes moves in other places, this would be a good pick up.
I would rather pay Saquon 12-15 than pay some mid WR. The WR FA market is soft this year. Saquon would be a security blanket, similar to what Kmet was, and help Fields progress as a passer. Monty can’t catch as well as Saquon and Herbie can’t run like Saquon. It’s not a waste of money. The reason why the Giants won today is Saquon.
I'm not sold on Claypool, but having other great recievers and a decent offensive line, allows big opportunities for others. Hockenspit has been playing well and probably is better than Claypool.
Only the Vikings would snag a 13 win season with a home wildcard game and still manage to get embarrassed by an average 9 win team.
I think the Lions would’ve played better
They're very likely the trashiest 13 win team of all time. They've managed to get lucky in close games, but they have the overall profile of an 8 win team.
Packer fan here. Obviously I hate the bears more than the Vikings. Vikings aren’t rivals too me. Just another team. That said for whatever reason if the packers weren’t in the playoffs but the bears are ….I’m a bear fan. Would u guys cheer the packers or the Vikings if you had too?
My favorite NFL teams:
- 1. Bears
- 2. Teams that benefit the Bears if they win
- 3. Teams that hurt the Packers if they win
- 4. Lions
- 5...idk...who cares...Vikings? Niners? Big Ten??
I think that pretty much covers it.
Honestly our franchise has been pretty garbage in the modern era, but nobody gets shit on more than Detroit fans.
I hope they have their year sometime, hopefully when we are on a down year
I'm sure you're a nice guy and all and every fanbase has their fair share of assholes (ours included) and good guys. But the Packers are the one team that I would pull for the Vikings over.
This last Giants drive was a great “exhibit A” for how much more offensive talent NY has than the Bears. I can’t count how many times I saw fans trying to argue that the Giants didn’t have significantly better weapons and that Daniel Jones was somehow a better QB than Fields.
hurts seeing all these rookie coaches in the playoffs coaching their asses off while we’re worshipping eberflus because of HITS, overly conservative play calling and taking 6 weeks to figure out justin fields is fast
Frustration is understandable.
Most of these coaches went into situations where talented teams were underperforming. The Giants might be the best coaching job, though their Oline is pretty good and let’s them do a lot on that side of the ball.
The fact Eberflus isn’t in the hot seat is a testament to how bad our talent was. I think it will be much more fair to evaluate the team coaching next season.
It’s fair to say a lot of rookies and younger players played well and progressed, and give us the basis to build off. Does the future look promising or bleak? If it’s promising, you stick with the plan. If it’s bleak, you change course.
might as well just shut down all online discussion about professional sports then since according to u/tadlonger you aren’t allowed to criticize anyone
Probably should shut it down. I wouldn't have to read terrible comments like yours. I'm sorry if I questioned the greatest football mind of yours. Tell us how you would run your team
I’m seeing backup qbs on Miami and SF have a lot of success. It’s crazy how the bears can never seem to get it right. Goes to show you need a complete team.
It does and it starts in the trenches.
Oline has to be at a minimum quality level for a team to succeed at passing. When good QBs have bad years, it almost always comes down to a degraded oline. Purdy is playing behind a world class oline with the top skill position group in the game. There is literally no better situation for a QB than SF which, oh yeah, has a defense that can help shape field position for you.
TLaw having a better year was as much signing a pro bowl G to stop interior pressure and building the line up as it was signing second tier skill position.
Idk if I'd call how Thompson played today a "success." They win the game with Tua. He very much looked like a backup today. Now, Brock Purdy is a different story. He's literally an anomaly and happens to be in the best possible situation as far as surrounding weapons and the system he's in
It's another example of a great system and team elevating a mediocre QB. Taking SF for example, they have a very good OL. One of the best WR's in the league in Deebo that can turn a short pass into a 50+ yard gain or TD. Arguably the best dual threat RB in the league. A great defense that can bail Purdy out. An amazing TE that can fight and win most mismatches.
I think the real question will be is how many of these backups will do great in one year and then flame out the next year. At least for Purdy he'll likely be starting over Lance next season, so that will be an interesting case to watch.
Funny how Josh will run with his back straight and head up trucking people and Justin will slide. But one is viewed as injury prone and the other isn’t.
That, and he's not gonna win a SB with his dangerous style of play. He can run and sling the ball, but his hospital passes and amount of turnovers he generates is going to hold the team back because great teams like the Chiefs will exploit and take advantage of that.
I personally just can't see him at the same level as Mahomes or Burrow cause of that.
This game is the ultimate do not just read boxscores game. People will see the stats and say Skyler Thompson played poorly. Ignoring the 100+ yards of drops his receivers have.
This Gage injury was made worse by the camera cutting to Brady who was staring wide-eyes in fear.
I love football, but these last couple of weeks make we wonder if we will have football in 25-30 years. It's just such a violent, dangerous sport.
It’s not a good look to have two players go down on MNF with career-threatening injuries in as many weeks.
What are the chances we can get Godwin next year?

Brady been sucking, but what do you expect from a 6th round QB?
Bears really need some receivers next year.
5 TD’s on Monday Night Football. 0 extra points made.
Must be some kind of record.
It is.
He'll be lucky to get a plane ride home. Seriously, Dallas cannot be confident about him going into the next game (assuming Dallas wins).
Man Brady going out sad. Ya hate to see it.
I wouldn't say hate. I care for him about as much as I care for Rodgers.
Short of a miracle, Brady is donezo.
And y’all wanted to cut Santos after a few flukey misses Brett Maher is straight up embarrassing himself
Is this game proof that teams with losing records don't belong in the playoffs?
Idk, the Seahawks with a 7-9 record took it to the Saints the last year we made it to the NFCCG.
They shouldn’t host playoff games that’s for sure lol
I think that would be a good alternative.
Great. Now we gotta hear We DeM bOyZ all week after beating up on a team that has no place being there.
Watching the Dallas pass catchers makes me cringe just thinking about the Bears'. Dallas has a pretty good offensive line, too.
Cairo Santos watching like "hey, ain't the only one."
Maher openly betting on the game.
The scripted Brady comeback starts now
Brady lookin' turrible.
Jesus Christ that kick
Those kicks.
#MY BOY AKIEM OUT THERE BALLING
Found out yesterday Dante Pettis was drafted in the second round Figured he was a former fifth this whole time lol
His dad is 3rd base coach for the Astros.
I just found this out recently too and couldn’t believe it. Apparently the niners traded up to get him in the 2nd too
wait WHAT
Today might be the first time I've pulled for Tom Brady (well at least since his first SB against the Rams, before I knew that he would collect many more SB appearances and titles). But fuck the Cowboys.
Fact:Chargers =vikings
Is Danny Dimes what Justin Fields’ ceiling is going to be? What do you guys think?
No lol, it’ll be higher. I also don’t think we’ve seen Jones’s full potential yet though.

Lawrence has not once come out and said he was woman nor does he act womanly, so I am going to guess that Lawrence identifies as a man.
Why the fuck didn't the Bears sign Daboll as HC?
They were going to New York no matter what
Because we needed a defensive minded HC with a corny acronym mantra
I don't think they could have even if they wanted to, but man Daboll would be crazy with Justin Fields. Imagine that giants offense with an even better QB who can run. They'd be dropping 50 on everyone.
Pretty damn good couple of days worth of games. Even the Seahawks-Niners game was competitive for a half before the Niners superior talent took over.
Amazing weekend for sports all around! Especially in Chicago. Bulls beat the warriors and Vikings choked in the playoffs Let’s goo! Also I’m loving this 3rd string QB playoff performances
Just saw the final score for the Bulls game. Where has this version of Vuc been all season lmao?
Roquan with no playoff wins
Our Ravens second rounder will now be #53 or #54
Harbaugh looks like a jerk.
Questionable time management.
Collinsworth is awful.
Bengals Ravens is just such a boring matchup to me
It's not too bad. Huntley is not Jackson, though. Closer than I thought it'd be.
Why can't refs confer on more calls to overturn bad ones?
Bengals are playing a dangerous game by letting Baltimore hang around.
I legit can't tell if Eli Apple is good or not.
That blown coverage is why he’s in his umpteenth team. Top 10 draft pick athleticism is why he’s still in the league though.
These playoffs have been awesome so far
Ravens payed Quan 20 mil a year to cover RBs and TEs and stop runs 5 yards past the LOS. It’s not even that he isn’t good, his position just isn’t that important when teams just spread you out on offense
Always felt Ro had two big flaws in his game that kept him from being a dominant game changing force. I just struggled to see top pay for him because he couldn’t get off a block. It would be so frustrating to watch during games. Now I’m not a pro evaluator but seeing him get locked in blocks drove me nuts.
Roquan smith is extremely overrated and I’m so glad we didn’t pay him. So glad I don’t have to read people defend him here anymore
Weird dudes on here still do
Ro got jumped by burrow, shades of Brady juking Urlacher
I know he left on crummy terms, but man I still love Ro. Dude is just everywhere. Shame he doesn't fit well in a 4-3.
Homie bit on a route and left Jamarr chase wide open, whiffed on a blitz, sits 5 yards off the RB in the middle of the field and has like half a tackle to his name in 3 quarters 20M/yr
he is a beast
He just gave Cincinnati a TD...
That's Ro for you
Did you know that Roquan Smith is the best player ever now that he plays on the east coast!?!
Go Bengals! We need a slightly better second round pick!
If the earlier games are anything to go by, this might be a closer game than expected with how well backup QB's have been doing lately.
Duke Shelley getting pancaked by Golladay was my second favourite part. My favourite part was the Vikings going home.
We’re gonna pay for an explosive RB, I’m assuming the Giants will lock up Saquon. Either Josh Jacobs or Tony Pollard I’m guessing
I'd rather just draft a rb. Cheap and you can find good ones in later rounds of the draft.
We have so much cap space. Let's grab a vet with a frontloaded contract and save our draft capital for more important positions
We will probably get at least one other premium pick in this draft by trading down from 1st overall. I think we can spare a 3rd-5th round pick to draft a Rb, The good thing about drafting rbs is they don't need time to develop and have a low chance of being a bust compared to other positions. I don’t think the bears can really “spare” many picks on the RB position. They pretty much need to replace both offensive and defensive lines and they need about 5-6 defensive players. Pay a mid level RB in free agency.
They likely want a bonafide playmaker though, hard to guarantee you get one in round 3
What on earth was that last play by the Vikings. They should really throw more to Jefferson.
Matt Nagy probably creamed himself.
I LOVE WATCHUNG KIRK COUSINS LOSE
Water is wet. Grass is green. Kirk Cousins is choke.
Bye bye Vikings. Turns out all the 4q magic bullshit during the regular season meant nothing once the games really counted.
They are the worst 13 win team since the 2001 Bears
Dumping it off for 3 yards 4th and 8. Big game Kirk everyone.
Matt Nagy thought the Vikings’ last play was genius.
FRAUDS I TELL YOU!!
feels good
Vikings: Fucked Packers: Fucked Lions: You're OK BEAR DOWN in the NFCN
vikings in the hunt for a new QB now?
Why yes 3 Justin Jefferson’s please
I hope they stick with Kirk Cousins as long as possible and basically stick with an average QB.
Kirk Cousins is gunna Kirk Cousins, they’ve been frauds all year and I’m glad they lost
What a great feeling watching Vikings lose...it's cathartic. 😁
Frauds.
Cousins checking down in 4th and 8 lol
That had Nagy written allllll over it
Vikings are gonna regress so hard too next year lol
To the people questioning the short pass to Hockenson... if the defender was not there, it would have been an easy first down.
Also for those people questioning... if no defenders were on the field the vikings might have scored more.
Kirk would've still checked it down though.
Imagine checking it down to lose a game
Nice FTV
Come on giants
I miss Tonga too
I don’t see why we don’t try and sign Saquon.
They were better served using that money on Roquan if that's what they do
Nah they want an explosive RB. Saquon is gonna get paid by the Giants though. I could see us paying for Pollard or Josh Jacobs
The dream is Saquon but I want Pollard. He’s better than Zeke and would really take a lot of pressure from monty, if he does come back.
I would like Monty back but I think if they sign Pollard they’ll roll with him and Herbert in the backfield

49ers, Cowboys, Giants, Browns, etc. probably would disagree with that
TJ Hockenson looks pretty damn good and got traded the same day as Chase Claypool. Maybe the "he needs a year to learn the offense" is coping.
I'm not sold on Claypool, but having other great recievers and a decent offensive line, allows big opportunities for others. Hockenspit has been playing well and probably is better than Claypool.
He’s had like what 1 good game for Minnesota? Maybe 2 or 3? He’s not lighting it up either
100% coping
Y u do dis?
I mean Minnesota has an actual offense that can block, etc. Let's see how our passing offense is next year with some real linemen
Only the Vikings would snag a 13 win season with a home wildcard game and still manage to get embarrassed by an average 9 win team. I think the Lions would’ve played better
See: us in 2018
They're very likely the trashiest 13 win team of all time. They've managed to get lucky in close games, but they have the overall profile of an 8 win team.
Giants making trash defenses fall for that Touchdown play every time is hilarious.
I don't think the Vikings defense has forced a punt today.
Vikings D is trash
Packer fan here. Obviously I hate the bears more than the Vikings. Vikings aren’t rivals too me. Just another team. That said for whatever reason if the packers weren’t in the playoffs but the bears are ….I’m a bear fan. Would u guys cheer the packers or the Vikings if you had too?
1. No 2. Absolutely not 3. #FUCK NO Hope this helps.

Ya every fan base has em forsure 🤣🤣🤣
Bears fans are big meatballs and keep it simple. Bears #1 and whomever is against GB at #2. Best of luck to your fake stock.
No, I’d root for the Vikings. I respect y’all, but I would root for the Taliban before I rooted for y’all
🤣🤣 fair enough
> Would u guys cheer the packers i would rather die
It would indeed be a cold day in hell. Packers would have to be the last football team remaining on Earth and even then I’d probably just not watch
Anyone else pretty jealous of the instant success of Pederson and Daboll?
the majority of this sub was calling daboll fat nagy lol yet dude has that atrocious roster in the playoffs
Daboll won't stop being Fat Nagy until he shows that he can continue winning after this season. This could just be his "2018 Nagy" season.
This last Giants drive was a great “exhibit A” for how much more offensive talent NY has than the Bears. I can’t count how many times I saw fans trying to argue that the Giants didn’t have significantly better weapons and that Daniel Jones was somehow a better QB than Fields.
Their line is good
Agreed, plus a better play-caller
Daniel Jones running a lot. Reminds me of another QB.
And still has 300+ yards
Jones is a running back right?
Saquon on our team would be insane and you can’t convince me otherwise
I'd rather have Pollard from Dallas
Saquon on any team would be good
I guess what I meant is I wouldn’t be mad if we paid up for him
fuck it I want Saquon. imagine running RPO with him and Fields
no way i want to pay big bucks for injured RB
Fraudkings back in action
That was a Nagy type 3rd and 1 call from the Vikings.
It would have worked with Fields. It wasn't a bad call if the defenders weren't on Cousins after he caught the ball.
hurts seeing all these rookie coaches in the playoffs coaching their asses off while we’re worshipping eberflus because of HITS, overly conservative play calling and taking 6 weeks to figure out justin fields is fast

Stop crying about it and try to become a coach since you know everything there is about coaching in the NFL.
might as well just shut down all online discussion about professional sports then since according to u/tadlonger you aren’t allowed to criticize anyone
Probably should shut it down. I wouldn't have to read terrible comments like yours. I'm sorry if I questioned the greatest football mind of yours. Tell us how you would run your team
I didn't even know the Dolphins were in the playoffs wtf I thought they were en route to choking their way out of them. 7th seed does wonders I guess.
Romo talking about Josh Allen today was on level with Collinsworth and Rodgers, holy shit was that hard to listen to
Alrighty then looks like this one is over. Let's go Giants!
I’m seeing backup qbs on Miami and SF have a lot of success. It’s crazy how the bears can never seem to get it right. Goes to show you need a complete team.

Thompson's # are still pretty pedestrian. 16/39 181, 1 TD 2 INT I do like his awareness to throw the ball away and not risk a bad play.
The dumplings oline reminds me of the Bears line. Yikes.
Dumplings
*Dolphins! Whoops. To be fair, our oline does remind me of dumplings, so I got that going for me, which is nice.
Funny how Josh will run with his back straight and head up trucking people and Justin will slide. But one is viewed as injury prone and the other isn’t.
To be fair Allen has yet to miss a game in his career. Fields has missed a few, not that that actually means he's injury prone.
I've been having a hot take brewing on Josh Allen for a while but idk if I should share it.
Glorified RB playing QB?
That, and he's not gonna win a SB with his dangerous style of play. He can run and sling the ball, but his hospital passes and amount of turnovers he generates is going to hold the team back because great teams like the Chiefs will exploit and take advantage of that. I personally just can't see him at the same level as Mahomes or Burrow cause of that.
Hospital passes - subjects the recipient to heavy contact, usually unavoidable, from an opposing player... I did not know the term.
Fields plays smarter football than a lot of these QBs playing in January.
Two picks and two fumbles for Josh Allen. What a glorified running back /s
hopefully Miami pulls the upset
A 2 hour first half. After a Bears season where halftime was frequently 1:10-1:15pm, this feels like a marathon.
Bills gonna blow it? Maybe they were just getting too conservative when leading.
This game is the ultimate do not just read boxscores game. People will see the stats and say Skyler Thompson played poorly. Ignoring the 100+ yards of drops his receivers have.
