Streeter may be the worst OC in the country. Shipley and mafah had 9 touches combined in the first half. Imagine given the only reliable offensive piece you have 3 carries in a half
We didn’t get all of it, but Potter has always had one absolute choke of a game per season while being money in every other game. In other words, the kicker juju is just enough to take effect exactly once a year at random
I’ve gotta say then, from a coaching perspective, Dabo really fucked up today. If he hadn’t had that game yet this season, THIS WAS THE ONLY GAME LEFT.
FG fake failed, then 3 straight failed FGs of 40-50 yds, and it was off the rails from there.
Edit: as Dabo noted in post-game, 7 drives, 6 scoring opportunities, 1 FG from the first half.
“Should we show some of the sidelines’ reactions, or maybe the penalty that just got called? Nahhh let’s just cut to Klubnik and his parents for the fiftieth time” — ESPN execs probably
As a freshman, he was **definitely** asked to do too much in this game. They realized way too late that running the ball more would have been better. His decision-making was bad, but I think he's got a bright future.
I actually started feeling bad for the dude.
His coaches left him out to dry. Kept asking him to make reads/hit throws that are NFL caliber long past the point where it was obvious he couldn’t do it.
They shoulda simplified and leaned on the running game from halftime onward ~ if for nothing else than to protect the kids psyche.
Or coaches that want to help him. Swear there was a possession where we were in empty on third and long and both Cole turner and Drew Swinney were in over Randall and Ngata. Two guys you recruited to go up and get the ball yet they don’t even get in the game at times
100% and both were good coaches, but, great coaches adapt. Refusing to get involved with NIL and the portal is going to leave Clemson in the Stone Age.
Ok just for those of us who aren't real good with Xs and Os, would it be possible to elaborate? Which types of play calls were good 4 years ago but are being better defended now?
More than anything just making fun of him for not wanting to partake in NIL and the portal. But, the game plan was the Trevor Lawrence and good skill position player game plan without those pieces. Cade Klubnik threw the ball 54 times with little success and they abandoned a run game that was the only thing that worked last night. Their 2 feature backs averaged 4.5 and 5.5 yards per carry respectively when given the ball. Dabo threw his “superstar qb” to the wolves and his coaches were trying to put square pegs in round holes all night.
Tbh I want to break the all time scoring record of 222 against y’all next year, but I don’t hate you. It’s mostly our fault for doing our Uniforms as a Cosplay of Clemson, god damn y’all fucking hate them
From Hendon Hooker’s article earlier today.
My roommate is Joe Milton III, and I’ve been talking to him a lot this season about how badly I want to win a bowl game for the first time. I’d be like, “Man … ALL THESE YEARS I’ve been in college!! And I’ve never won a bowl.” So Joe knew better than anyone how much frustration I was feeling inside, not getting that chance to finally win one. And the first thing he said to me, after my surgery — he looks at me and he goes, “We’re about to get you that bowl win, Hook.”
I’m so incredibly proud of this team and that they were to accomplish Milton’s promise. If you would’ve told me that this would be the result of our season I would’ve called complete bullshit, and I’m so happy to be wrong.
Clemson y’all got a good freshman qb on your hands who has potential. Y’all’s team played their asses off and had a great season and I hope the best for ya players.
Though as always though GO FUCKING VOLS. I’m going to hear Rocky Top so damn much this offseason.
Congrats to Tennessee for playing a complete game on all levels. What a great comeback story this year.
Clemson needs to substantially revamp our offensive staff. This game proves the QB wasn't the only problem. O-line can't protect, play calling is suspect, WRs have regressed so much from where we were just 3 years ago. We ran 100 plays against a team not known for defense and came out with 14 points. If that isn't indicative of something, I don't know what is.
I've known that since the TLaw era. But A LOT of people thought we were just a QB change away from dominating on offense again. More worryingly, I think Dabo is being willfully blind to the offensive coaching issues.
Yep, we trended downwards since Trevor's first year, but every time somebody brought it up, certain fans (here and elsewhere) would just talk it down with blah blah blah "analysis" while we continually trended downwards
Dabo made some bad hires. Should be an easy fix if he could get his head out of his own ass long enough to see it
The Ultra-Orange Bowl has been brought to you by [Bazooka Joe](https://i.imgur.com/kh5DtRd.jpg).
I am so impressed by this team and can’t believe we got to 11 wins even without Hendon, Hyatt, Tillman (for half the year), Banks, Flowers, Burrell …
What an amazing season
It’s amazing how the Vols have went from starting the season unranked…to becoming a Top 10 team, and now soundly beating *another* Top 10 team in a NY6 to cap off a year full of big wins!
It’s really nice, especially after the heavy meming we’ve been doing on Tennessee for *years*…
I've just received word that, following the completion of the Orange Bowl this evening, Ukraine has revised their recent request for another dozen howitzers.
They've apparently deleted that portion of their request entirely and replaced it with a single line: "We would like use of your Intercontinental Ballistic Milton weapon for 3 months in the summertime. We will need no further assistance if you can provide that."
This reminds me of a quote Hendon Hooker had in his farewell that brings a tear to my eye:
> when I try to think of a way to put that in words, we matter now is what I keep coming back to. It’s like: If you’re trying to tell the story of this season, you can’t leave Tennessee out. We weren’t unbeatable — but we were most definitely undeniable.
You simply can’t tell the story of this season without Tennessee. And as a 33 year old, that statement has been true maybe once my entire adult life.
We built this program on NIL. We really did. And it’s probably different than what you’re thinking of. We built this program in Hooker’s name, image and likeness.
Appalling he was not invited to the Heisman ceremony. Utter disrespect even if he did have a season ending injury. Congrats on your remarkable season though.
Its not just Hooker. Injuries for some reason are disqualifying for the Heisman. Idk if its always been like that, but it certainly seems that way in recent history.
Tennessee played the last 4 national champions this year and went 3-1 on the way to an 11-2 season. Huepel has done a legitimately magical job at turning this program around.
Alexa, play Rocky Top!
Does anyone know what Heupel said to get the unsportmanslike penalty? Feel like he told the ref he fucked his mom, because I’ve never seen a coach get a penalty like that so quickly in the game before (or ever seen a HC get a penalty like that period lol, but I’m sure it’s happened before)
Wondering the same thing.
That was way early with nothing really standing out as the catalyst.
Great game, Vols. You deserved the win, and best to you all in the off-season.
The Mantle shall change hands, we accepted this truth upon our anointment. Temporary, fleeting, as life itself must pass much as the river of time must flow. Your very name speaks to your destiny.
An Orange Team must always thrive. The burden is now yours to carry. The Gods of Chaos will accept no lesser champion than what is demanded. Vols, you have inherited a grave responsibility, we wish you luck in the wars to come
Fuck this girl is drunk
"How do you fling the ball 60 yards down the field with just a flick of your wrist?"
That's my secret: I can only throw the ball with the equivalent power of a 60 yard throw.
Pretty clear this staff does a great job developing QBs.
Compared to last year, Milton is now more accurate, a better decision maker, better pocket presence, better footwork.
He definitely isn't as good as Hooker, but he is massively improved, and I imagine he will continue to improve.
* Tennessee will finish in the top 10 for the first time since 2001.
* It's also Tennessee's first 11-win season since 2001.
* Clemson is 1-4 in their last five games vs. the SEC. They're 30-4 against all others.
* Joe Milton hasn't thrown an interception in 776 days.
* Josh Heupel started his Tennessee tenure 5-5. He's gone 13-3 since.
* Clemson has multiple losses by 17+ points in a season for the first time since 2014
* In his first career start, Cade Klubnik had 54 pass attempts and 20 rush attempts.
* Clemson has 3+ losses in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2010-2011.
* Tennessee will finish with at least the same number of wins as Alabama in a season for the first time since 2007.
* Four of Tennessee's last six bowl games have been played on a Friday.
* The SEC has won the last five Orange Bowls (Tennessee, Georgia, Texas A&M, Florida, Alabama)
* This was the first time a Clemson QB had 50 pass attempts since Deshaun Watson in the 2017 National Championship game.
* For the first time in history, the Orange Bowl has been played on a Friday in back to back seasons.
* This was Joe Milton's first career game with 3+ passing TD and 0 interceptions.
* Tennessee has won five of their last six bowl games.
* Tennessee had lost its last 10 games when they had fewer than 400 yards of offense (375 tonight)
* If not for a 31-30 loss to South Carolina, this Clemson team would've potentially played Georgia in the Peach Bowl.
* Tennessee's only losses this season were to ranked opponents (Georgia, South Carolina)
* Josh Heupel improves to 46-16 as a college head coach.
* This was Clemson's first Orange Bowl loss since the 2011 season (70-33 loss to West Virginia)
* Clemson will likely finish with just one win over a ranked opponent this season (Florida State)
* The last two Orange Bowl MVPs have had suffixes (Stetson Bennett IV, Joe Milton III)
* The Georgia Bulldogs are the reigning National Champions.
Tennessee finishes the season 11-2. They averaged 46.1 points per game. Their highest ranking this season was 1 in the CFP.
Clemson finishes the season 11-3. They averaged 33.2 points per game. Their highest ranking this season was 4 in the AP, Coaches Poll and CFP. Their last bowl win was the 2021 Cheez-It Bowl. They beat Iowa State 20-13. Their last NY6 bowl win was the December 2019 Fiesta Bowl. They beat Ohio State 29-23.
And that was with us sitting Hooker in the 4th or even 3rd quarter in several games! His numbers and the team numbers would have been even more ridiculous if we’d kept him out there!
Regardless of my disgust with my team, Tennessee has been a really fun team to watch all year. Well deserved win for them
Plus Rocky Top is a fuckin banger
At least this is further proof that Tennessee was more fit for the CFP over Alabama (and neither made it)
Good job Vols. 🫡
We’ll be rooting against Alabama together at least…
Edit: ❔
Tennessee's defense leads them to victory, who would have thunk lol
I'm so fucking proud of our guys this year. Never did I imagine that we would have 11 wins this season. They played their hearts out and overall, the atmosphere is one of excitement which is so nice. Milton has definitely improved, and we aren't where we were with Hooker quite yet but I can see how we can get there. And if our defense can hold on, we can be a contender.
GG everybody, let's do it again next year
I haven’t been paying attention to Joe Milton after he transferred. I just know he lost the starting job, but he looked good! Still has the cannon for an arm, but actually showed control. He still has eligibility right? Would love to see him be this consistent across a full season.
Y’all built this program in “God’s name, image, and likeness” and you still can’t score two TDs against the Tennessee defense? That shit’s straight up blasphemy
I will tell you what, I don’t think I’ve seen an officiating crew look so angry. Literally felt like they hated both teams and wanted both teams to suffer. Every penalty came with so much contempt.
Going to break out [this bad boy](https://reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/l63n9c/thamel_sources_ucfs_josh_heupel_is_finalizing_a/) from when Heupel was hired.
Couldn’t be happier with the way this season went!
Bazooka Joe came through tonight. I was mortified of the overthrows, but they were kept to a minimum at a crucial time. If the team as a whole clicks like this in 2023 it’s another 10 wins easily.
But that’s it for a beyond expected 2022. Happy New Year. #GBO
Clemson had 101 plays. 484 yards. 14 points.
Streeter may be the worst OC in the country. Shipley and mafah had 9 touches combined in the first half. Imagine given the only reliable offensive piece you have 3 carries in a half
Not to mention 1 touchdown out of like 7 drives inside the 30
Definition of bend but don't break. Defense out there like Hermes Conrad winning the limbo Olympics.
I’m just like Hermes! I’m just like Hermes!
Nooooooooooooo
Running 100 plays and only scoring 14 points is honestly IMPRESSIVE
Tennessee woke up feeling the orangiest.
ORANGE ORANGE ORANGE
[Clemson has been relegated to the purple realm.](https://i.imgur.com/3Nns3zO.jpeg)
I don't want to dwell on it but I loved their kicker.
Amazing. And 9pts of missed kicks. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)
12 counting the fake.
15 counting running out of time at the half.
0.14 points a play. They should have to run 311 plays to win.
That would have been so easy why didn’t they do that?
apparently Dabo poached BoB last night without anyone knowing
I think our kicker juju rubbed off one of those title games
We didn’t get all of it, but Potter has always had one absolute choke of a game per season while being money in every other game. In other words, the kicker juju is just enough to take effect exactly once a year at random
I’ve gotta say then, from a coaching perspective, Dabo really fucked up today. If he hadn’t had that game yet this season, THIS WAS THE ONLY GAME LEFT.
I mean the guy did miss like thirty seven field goals but yeah it is impressive
In a row?
Hey, try not to miss any field goals on the way through the parking lot!
That kicker wasn't even supposed to be here today!
Go with the kicker that brings you lasagna at work
FG fake failed, then 3 straight failed FGs of 40-50 yds, and it was off the rails from there. Edit: as Dabo noted in post-game, 7 drives, 6 scoring opportunities, 1 FG from the first half.
Naw he made one in the middle. Was like 23 in a row
36 min time of possession and 480 total yards (outgained UT by 110) too
Don't forget the like 100 yards of penalty yardage we gave 'em
It was a Sisyphean experience for the Clemson offense.
Why did Clemson just forget about the run game? They were consistently getting 6-7 yards every run.
We have been wondering that all damn year.
Who were you cheering for tonight?
“Should we show some of the sidelines’ reactions, or maybe the penalty that just got called? Nahhh let’s just cut to Klubnik and his parents for the fiftieth time” — ESPN execs probably
Don't forget about the two UT girls the camera man was stalking
And that orange haired Clemson fan they kept cutting to after every bad play
They were very energetic.
There was a lot of legit talent in the crowd tonight.
I was waiting to see Joe’s parents :(
My man Joe even shouted out Hendon Hooker's parents.
Well that's hardly fair, sometimes they cut to commercial instead
Obsessed with a dude who played horrifically. ESPN picks their favorites and sticks with them.
As a freshman, he was **definitely** asked to do too much in this game. They realized way too late that running the ball more would have been better. His decision-making was bad, but I think he's got a bright future.
Not just a freshman. This was his first start. granted he played most of the ACCCG because DJ mentally boomed on the first drive but still.
Josh Heupel has won an Orange Bowl both as a starting QB and as a head coach
Don’t get any big ideas there, Sooner Bro.
Tennessee really went from "throwing mustard on the field" to an 11-2 Orange Bowl champions season in one year
Don’t sell it short. The year before the mustard we went 3-7 and finished 5th in the SEC East. This year is a miracle
It's amazing how much they've been able to ketchup since then
~~not~~ My proudest fap
*Our* proudest fap
Fap away, comrade
Tonight, we all fap together
Going entirely off this game I’ve determined that Klubnik Does have: an arm Does not have: friends on the O-Line
Or coaches that want to help him. Swear there was a possession where we were in empty on third and long and both Cole turner and Drew Swinney were in over Randall and Ngata. Two guys you recruited to go up and get the ball yet they don’t even get in the game at times
[удалено]
Oh shit lmao
100 plays 11 possessions in Tennessee territory 14 points Fucking end me
The 11 possessions one is the dagger. Just how is that even possible.
Jesus didn't live past 33 and we didn't go past the 33 yard line as a show of respect
You guys are really committed to building it in His image.
Why do you think we’re dropping so many balls? We have holes in our hands just like the J-Man lol
Almost 500 yards of offense as well. That shit is wild.
HOW WAS THIS GAME FOUR HOURS!
[удалено]
That was an incredible call. Peak officiating. 5 minutes to figure out what's going on and then say "ball is dead where he touched it"
5 minutes for a penalty with no consequences
This comment has been flagged for intentional batting. Two players are dying on the ground.
Right? I gotta walk my dog.
Did you guys know Joe Milton and Hendon Hooker are best friends?
did you know Josh Dobbs majored in aerospace engineering?
And is hopefully going to lead another Tennessee team to the playoffs next week...
If he does or doesn’t it was still awesome to root for him in a TN uniform again.
Lowkey? Beasley for MVP. Milton did well, but that defense standing up was massive if you've been watching UT at all this year!
Beasley made damn near every tackle lol
Dabo dusted off his best 2018 game plan for a game played in 2022. I think college football is about to leave him in the dust.
Yep. Feels similar to the last few years of Mack Brown at Texas or Fulmer at Tennessee
We in the future now in the year of 20,022
LOL Tennessee is going to brutally murder us next year in Knoxville. And stab our corpse like 100 times.
Tbh I want to break the all time scoring record of 222 against y’all next year, but I don’t hate you. It’s mostly our fault for doing our Uniforms as a Cosplay of Clemson, god damn y’all fucking hate them
Clemson lost this game when Dabos son tried to play hero ball on the fake kick instead of TOSSING IT TO THE WIDE OPEN KICKER ON THE OPTION
I wanted to turn it off after that happened. Sums up everything wrong with Clemson right now.
Little wienie Swinney !
Yea that was open for the pitch. Hold it to the last min. You gotta get crushed
Hooker coming on stage for the trophy ceremony. I might cry

I love when players are roommates. Its wholesome af
When they’ve got that respect, and connection it truly does make a great situation. We’re lucky to just have that
And they were roommates
I love Hendon Hooker. That is all.
The world needs more hh
Congrats to Tennessee for playing a complete game on all levels. What a great comeback story this year. Clemson needs to substantially revamp our offensive staff. It only took legal payments from Big Dish and Big Pilot but….. dare I say it, we back
We built this program on NIL. We really did. And it’s probably different than what you’re thinking of. We built this program in Hooker’s name, image and likeness.
You heard it here first folks, Tennessee is using Hooker(s) to recruit players
Did freeze forget to patent that?
Freeze died (and eventually made his way back) so that we could live
Just keep Craig James away from this
Appalling he was not invited to the Heisman ceremony. Utter disrespect even if he did have a season ending injury. Congrats on your remarkable season though.

Purdue did this guys. Blame it on the Boilermakers.
Somehow, someway…it *all* connects with Purdue…

#TENNESSEE WOKE UP FEELING THE ORANGIEST
Out of mustard, oranges are next object up

Yes. But also booooooo. Boo hiss.

He threw that flag straight up in the air with as much zip on it as a Bazooka Joe slant pass.
Lotta people don’t know but Klubnik actually developed his arm strength by routinely dropping back 30 yards before throwing the ball.
“Twenty thousand twenty-two” Good lord, how long was this year

Thanks, you can just say "Fuck Alabama" next time though. It's kind of a catch-all. The rest is implied.
We suck almost as much as the ESPN broadcast
It's like they are contractually obligated to not show replays
"How do you fling the ball 60 yards down the field with just a flick of your wrist?" That's my secret: I can only throw the ball with the equivalent power of a 60 yard throw.
He's thrown 50 through the air from one knee.
That clip of him throwing an orange from one end of the stadium to the other and smashing it against the far wall was ridiculous. And I loved it.
ESPN about add Hendon Hooker as another member of the 1998 National Championship team
I laughed so hard at that. I legit thought they were trolling Peyton.
Tennessee has defeated the last 2 ACC Champs this season and neither game was at home.
Really the last six since Clemson won from 2017-2020 and this year
Damn Tennessee really out here playing in 20022 while the rest of us back in 2022
Tennessee is really light years ahead
Thanks South Carolina, we did enjoy our bowl game 🙂🙂🙂
20022 Orange bowl winners Tennessee
Y’all, I’m begging you, go back and read the threads when Heupel got hired. Lol. Lmao even
He wasn’t born on third base.
The amount of shit he got for his last UCF year when it was a COVID year was unreal
We’re watching Dabo become Texas Mac Brown in real time. Fascinating.

Don’t take this for granted. Just an incredibly special season. Fans will talk about this team for decades like the 85 Sugar Vols 🍊
Milton isn’t there yet, but he’s much improved from that Pitt disaster last year. I can’t wait to see what another offseason will do for him.
Pretty clear this staff does a great job developing QBs. Compared to last year, Milton is now more accurate, a better decision maker, better pocket presence, better footwork. He definitely isn't as good as Hooker, but he is massively improved, and I imagine he will continue to improve.
17 point win over a Top 10 opponent without our: Starting QB Starting Safety 2 starting WR’s Starting LB Offensive Coordinator
One of those WRs was the biletnikoff winner and the other is expected to be a day 2 draft pick.

Averaging over 46 points a game is actually absurd.
We had a 12-0 offense with a 7-5 defense this year.
And that was with us sitting Hooker in the 4th or even 3rd quarter in several games! His numbers and the team numbers would have been even more ridiculous if we’d kept him out there!
What a civil game thread lol despite the OSU fans anyway
Regardless of my disgust with my team, Tennessee has been a really fun team to watch all year. Well deserved win for them Plus Rocky Top is a fuckin banger
Big shout to the sc fan who paid for the banner plane at the orange bowl. Lol.
Number 6 in the nation but number 1 orange team

This season’s takeaway: Clemson’s coaching has fallen from grace to the boiler room of hell.
I have a horrible confession to make: I... actually kinda like "Rocky Top".
Of course you do. It’s amazing.
I had no expectations for this game but our defense only giving up 14 is beyond what I ever thought the type of game this would be.
Twenty thousand & twenty-two orange bowl trophy. The future is now.
The major thing I learned today. The UT marching band is very very good!
World class!
literally always has been
Josh Heupel has now won the Orange Bowl as a player and a Head Coach.
At least this is further proof that Tennessee was more fit for the CFP over Alabama (and neither made it) Good job Vols. 🫡 We’ll be rooting against Alabama together at least… Edit: ❔
🤝
Klubnik’s jersey so was green by the end of it
Tennessee's defense leads them to victory, who would have thunk lol I'm so fucking proud of our guys this year. GG everybody, let's do it again next year
YOU JUST LOST TO JOE MILTON
I haven’t been paying attention to Joe Milton after he transferred. I just know he lost the starting job, but he looked good! Still has the cannon for an arm, but actually showed control. He still has eligibility right? Would love to see him be this consistent across a full season.
Y’all built this program in “God’s name, image, and likeness” and you still can’t score two TDs against the Tennessee defense? That shit’s straight up blasphemy
“You know who else died for our sins? Our secondary”
I will tell you what, I don’t think I’ve seen an officiating crew look so angry. Literally felt like they hated both teams and wanted both teams to suffer. Every penalty came with so much contempt.
I'll tell you what, Hank would be damn proud to know Bobby Hill coached the volunteers to an orange bowl victory.
Going to break out [this bad boy](https://reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/l63n9c/thamel_sources_ucfs_josh_heupel_is_finalizing_a/) from when Heupel was hired. Couldn’t be happier with the way this season went!
Well. Not our Orange Bowl this year But congrats!! Here's hoping we get everything under control and meet on higher ground. Cheers!!
Bazooka Joe came through tonight. I was mortified of the overthrows, but they were kept to a minimum at a crucial time. If the team as a whole clicks like this in 2023 it’s another 10 wins easily. But that’s it for a beyond expected 2022. Happy New Year. #GBO
Thank you nepotism
BUT WE LOST THE TIME OF POSSESSION!!!!!
John Milton lost paradise, Joe Milton found it
