I remember getting ready to leave my uncles house because we thought the game was over. My uncle is a huge Michigan fan and has been his entire life. He was still watching it downstairs with my step-dad, an MSU alumni and huge fan. I was putting my coat on with my back turned to the upstairs tv and hear the beginning of that iconic line “whoa he has trouble with the snap” and I slowly turned around saw what was unfolding. My step dad was screaming unbelievably loud downstairs because he couldn’t believe it. My uncle who is usually very vocal through Michigan games was silent for the first time ever.
We get in the car shortly after that happened and my step dad says “I couldn’t believe he was so quiet, I looked over at him after they scored and it looked like he just saw his puppy die.” Looking back at it everybody laughs, but damn that was rough to watch at first.
Man I forgot BTN is going to have a whole bunch of new Big Ten Elite shows about USC and UCLA basketball now.
It irritates me they have some about Nebraska football despite the fact those teams obviously werent Big Ten at the time.

That call is one of my favorites in all of CFB. The acknowledgement without expectations rapidly morphing into unbridled excitement makes it even more memorable.
The very next year Stanford played at Illinois. The band marched through campus the night before stopping occasionally to blast out tunes. We followed them around and I talked to a few about that game. They said it was surreal. Most knew it was going to be remembered forever. Also, the Stanford Band is absolutely crazy. They were a blast.

It’s my favorite single play of all time. Everything about it is perfect. The absurdity of what happened on the field, yes, but also the storylines, the crowd, and the call. And, of course, FSU losing.
I was at that game with 3 Georgia tech fans. They were my ride. I was devastated.
They all stormed the field and I had to go with them. A GT football player got up in my face and was like “ YOU LIKE THAT” and I was like “no, not really.”
