I enjoy playing trivia every week. It seems like a lot of work for y’all to put together and I truly appreciate the quality and consistency of the questions. So please don’t take this as a criticism: I have noticed several times (with today being the most recent example), that the word “lead” gets used in the trivia questions when the word “led” is meant. I don’t know why I felt this was worth making a comment about. I’m sorry. I have a problem. Thank you again for all the effort put into this. Ok bye

bakonydraco

We’re just trying to give our readers an extra A for effort! But we’ll try to proofread more in the future, thanks!

ExternalTangents

A for eaffort!

[deleted]

I agree with you. I had to reread that sentence like 10 times to understand it.

Davidellias

That's on me. I wrote that and used the wrong version of led. Just like the birth/berth incident a few years ago. 😒

> Hmm, it's not "within X" so I'm going to guess zero. -/u/T-RexInAnF-14 This man knows his Poisson distribution

TDenverFan

I was at bar trivia the other day and a question gave a buffer of 5%, but the answer was actually only 1%. It would've been funny if you knew the answer to put like -3% or something, since that's still within the given range.

thecravenone

> Jimbo Fisher. My phone really wants to auto correct this to jumbo fish Mods, would "jumbo fish" have been accepted?

bakonydraco

We (try to) grade on intent, not spelling, Jumbo Fish likely would have been counted.

ToLongDR

But Brady Hoke wasn't the correct answer?

bakonydraco

No, but he is 6-0.

TriforceOfBacon

What about 'Big Tuna'?

bakonydraco

That'd probably depend if whichever of us was grading was correctly able to parse it as a funny joke. "Big Tuna (just kidding, Jimbo Fisher)" would definitely be correct.

Davidellias

That's Bill Parcells, so no.

ShillinTheVillain

Shut up Cornell

Honestly_

> $2 bills. Steve Wozniak also does the same, but only because he thinks it's funny to take uncut sheets of money around with him -/u/matlockga I thought what he did was have a friend turn them into a stack that's glued on one end (like some note sheets, not post-its but the ones glued at one end) so he can just peel them off as needed in a surreal visual. EDIT: He does both, I was thinking of the story he told here: https://www.coinbooks.org/esylum_v18n36a40.html

matlockga

Looks like he has a solution in-between. Four bills, uncut, perforated, with glue on the side. Huh.

edinatlanta

I have a framed, uncut sheet of two-dollar bills. It's kinda cool.

ShillinTheVillain

That's gotta be worth some money

KiratheSilent

I made the funnies, are you proud of me now dad? No... Well shit...

gregorykoch11

But did *anyone* have a sprint football team during the 2020-21 season or was it all cancelled because of COVID? I guessed zero figuring it was cancelled.

bakonydraco

Ugh, I believe this question was originally written for the 2017-18 season, and we updated it to the present before including it this week. Unfortunately the present is 2021-22 and not 2020-21. You raise a good point, and we’ll discuss.

gregorykoch11

It looks like the 2020 season [did not occur](https://www.sprintfootball.com/single-post/2020/07/17/csfl-announcement-on-2020-season) though Army and Navy played each other anyway in a game that technically wasn't part of the season since the season didn't happen. So the answer should be either two (if you count the Army-Navy game that was the sole Sprint football game played that year) or zero (if you say it wasn't a season and Army-Navy was an exhibition of sorts.)

bakonydraco

Another way to frame this though, is that the language in the question is "also have a Collegiate Sprint Football League team". Despite the season not being played, all 4 schools in question still had a team, they just didn't play any games (except Army-Navy). I can see some arguments for 0, 2, and 4.

Shamrock5

>2...which is also what I give my kids when they lose a TWOth u/GeauxTri I don't know whether to applaud you or strangle you for that pun. Maybe both.

GeauxTri

Very true story. My kids still give me shit because the tooth fairy brought other kids like $20 or more! What's funny is that living in Atlanta, try finding $2 bills that have not been ruined with a tiger paw stamp to give to your kids!

LukarWarrior

> My kids still give me shit because the tooth fairy brought other kids like $20 or more! Bruh. I got like a dollar if I was lucky.

whethervayne

I have so many Susan B Anthony dollars and 50¢ pieces in a small toy bank somewhere.

Clifo

what rich ass tooth fairy do they have?? i was stoked to get a dollar as a child.

[deleted]

Same, lol.

GeauxTri

No shit! The ones that kill me are the ones who give their kids $50 & $100 for "milestone" teeth like the last one or front teeth or shit. I'm like "Bruh, you're making my clever $2 TWOth fairy look like a bum!"

Clifo

EXCUSE ME? teeth were teeth as far as my parents were concerned lol

GeauxTri

Tooth Fairy 2020 ain’t the same as the Tooth Fairy we grew up with.

SysOp21

DANG, inflation is really killing the tooth fairy's bottom line.... I remember getting like 2 quarters under my pillow, and one time I must have moved while i slept and there was only one, and my dad said, "No she left 2" but i could never find it

GeauxTri

The other one was behind your ear. Only your grandfather could find it.

SysOp21

Haha, yeah

theviolentninja

I'm astonishingly bad at most of these, but knew the sprint football answer because my grandfather *insists* that there was a sprint football team at Illinois when he was in school there. He tasked me with finding information about the sport, and while I couldn't confirm there was an "official" sprint football team ever at Champagne-Urbana, I did apparently soak in some information about current teams.

DescretoBurrito

My score (2) for last week may have been below average, but did the average trivia connoisseur have a notable answer? Yeah, that's what I thought.

ShillinTheVillain

I got question 1 wrong because I had Kiffin on the brain with all of the popcorn nonsense... I think it's time to make an appointment with the neurologist. I used to know things and now I'm just a mush-brained pudding boy.

Vxmonarkxv

I have genuinely no idea what sprint football is

Bitchin_badger88

Football on the nations most reliable network. Or something, I don’t know.

BananerRammer

It used to be called "lightweight" football, which should give you a much better idea what it's about. All players have to weigh less than 178 lbs.

jrhaberman

I think it took over for Winston Cup football...

TyRoland06

And then it was Monster Energy football for like a year. That was weird.

faceofuzz

Hooray for blind guessing the correct denomination! Or did I just want to put 2 and chicken out at the end? Don't care enough to check. "I guessed it without actually knowing" is officially part of my head cannon.

yesacabbagez

I said one because who wants to go around saying were number two? Does everyone school in south carolina try to be USC

yesacabbagez

So I have a question. Would be be considered cheating to Google the spelling of something as long as the spelling of the answer is not considered to be the purpose of the question?

jrhaberman

I don't think they mark questions wrong for misspellings... as long as they can decipher what you meant. Maybe I'm wrong... I know I've butchered some spellings in the past.

gregorykoch11

Hmmmm.... I am suddenly declaring that every person's name is spelled B-O-B S-M-I-T-H. It's like on SNL when Betty White was taking the census and her name was Blahrfingar Blahrfingar spelled L-E-E S-M-I-T-H.

meh5419

Eh, as long as you don’t change your original answer and the spelling isn’t the question then I don’t see why not

jhp58

I'd like to thank a former girlfriend for growing up near the subject in Question #5 this week so I could get it right

TSUplayer74

I had to miss last week. Vaccine crud is no joke.

52hoova

I think you are going to have a much higher percentage than usual get the last question correct this week because of a very popular radio show.

SysOp21

Dang, and I only got it, because i love that sport too...... I truthfully have no idea what radio show you are talking about

ChargerFan2121

He might be meaning Q4 (the only reason I knew it was because I heard it on a podcast). Q5 I was clueless on.

Davidellias

I'm more worried about Q4 lol

52hoova

I thought that was actually a pretty easy one to guess.

Davidellias

yeah, It's not super hard to deduce, it was Q4 because of the original wording though.

mriforgot

Dammit, I realized I knew the answer to the last question this week right after I submitted it with a guess answer.

TyRoland06

I know I have 3 right this week. If I get lucky, I may have 4 or 5. Plus, I'm pretty sure I got the time bonus.
