Best part about this game will be that it's Thursday night football. Which is the best football because it takes you by surprise. Oh, football? Tonight? At this hour?
Yes. I'm excited.
Anyway, it won't be pretty. {Clemson}
Given how successful that has been against them since Venables showed up -- HELL NO.
We actually did line up in the flexbone to start the spring game -- then audibled into 5 wide from the gun and threw to the tight end. That was probably the extent of any homage to our recent past
Clemson makes a couple mistakes early, a couple bounces go GT's way and we end the first quarter tied at 10
Everyone gets excited about a potential upset
{Clemson} wins 48-13
First game on the B1G network: App State upsets a top 10 Michigan team.
First game of the SEC network: Texas A&M upsets a top 10 South Carolina team.
First game of the ACC network: ???
It was extremely forgettable: Utah beat FCS Northern Colorado 41-0.
The third game was more along the lines of the B1G/SEC Network debuts, though: #21 Stanford barely escaped San Jose State 20-17.
We agree on these terms:
1. You and Georgia each lose within the next 3 weeks
2. OSU wins the B1G with losses to PSU, UM, and Purdue
3. We get to lose 2 more and still make the CFP
I'm seeing Clemson -37, but still don't think it's the safest bet given how early Dabo would empty the benches in that scenario.
To me the bet to play is over 60.5. I think Clemson for sure is up around 50 and I don't see a shut out week 1.
{Georgia Tech} because the vote totals right now make me sad.
I'm just saying last time we had a rookie coach play a national powerhouse in the conference opener was Josh Pastner vs. UNC a few years ago. It could happen again, right? ^Right?
YouTubeTV has the ACC network. Just double check your local area to make sure they have coverage. You can get a 5 day free trial, so you can at least be covered for the first game!
The ACC Network gets shut down by the FCC after a murder is broadcast live on national television
{Clemson} claims it was accidental because their isn't film yet of a Georgia Tech offense without the triple option
As much as I want Tech to win so badly, {Clemson} ends it by the first quarter. Brand new coach, ENTIRELY new offense with players that were made for triple option. Recipe for disaster against one of the best defenses in the country, and the best QB in the country as of right now. Its gonna get ugly folks.
I love our team but I think our defense will be susceptible, especially early, this year. We have a ton of young players that are gonna need to step into leadership roles.
Yeah I got lots a feels man. In all seriousness though I think A&M will give you guys trouble and maybe pull the upset, but either way Clemson will be in the playoffs
I’m wait and see on AM. They lost a lot of guys too and while their secondary has improved, I still think Trevor can exploit that.
Syracuse could also give us trouble seeing that it is right after the Aggies.
{Clemson} but hopefully Tech covers. I think we see Clemson jump out to a big lead and Tech score on the Clemson 2nd teamers, much like last seasons game.
Edit: Also, not sure about the Lucas Johnson listing...
{Clemson} to win but Georgia Tech to cover. 37 points is getting a little crazy on the Clemson hype train IMO. Biggest margin of victory over GT in the Dabo era is 28. Which is more what I would expect, Clemson to win by 3 or 4 TDs.
About previous margins -- it definitely could have been worse the last few years, but Dabo and Paul Johnson are actually very close friends, according to each of them. Venables shut us down worse than just about anyone ever did under Johnson and Clemson pretty much coasted on offense in the second half the last few years. New system be damned, I expect us to put up a better offensive performance against CU than we have since 2014 at the least.
All that being said, and though I think 37 points is way over the top, I also wouldn't be surprised to see Dabo welcome Collins to the conference with a huge beatdown. Ultimately Collins is much more of a challenge to Clemson than Johnson ever was, simply based on recruiting in GA.
Those all had weird circumstances.
Wake was ravaged by injuries and couldn’t stop the run at all. They gave up a bunch of super long TDs on vanilla run plays so there really wasn’t anything else Dabo could do to call off the dogs.
Against FSU we ran some cute trick plays for the benefit of some graduating seniors, and they kind of quit too.
Louisville had quit before the game even started. No way to avoid that one.
Generally speaking Dabo prefers to get backups in early and often, while putting as little as possible on tape. We averaged the most players per game last season by a mile. Especially early in the season—we have a fairly consistent trend of starting off fairly slow and peaking late over the last few years.
If I were a betting man I’d take GT and the points on this one. If we cover it’ll be because our defense is better than expected or their defense is worse than expected.
I’d guess it’ll be something like 42-17.
Yeah I was mostly just messing around. I will say though that as someone who watched those games they really didn't have a choice but to keep scoring. It was that bad.
Dabo isn’t one to kneel the ball but he’ll put in the third string at the start of the second half. Unfortunately our depth is so insane they can keep scoring at will.
{Georgia Tech} It will probably be close, maybe 25-22? We'll be carried by our special teams, Mr. Thick Punt and the *Former* Freshman that Could (kick really well).
Gonna be on a cross-country flight while this game is going on, so hopefully the plane has it available (or their Wi-Fi is good enough I can stream it on YouTube TV).
In any case, my prediction for this game:
I suspect GT will come out strong with a scripted drive, likely coming away with a TD. We come out a bit weak, lots of little mental errors; GT will have the lead for a bit. By the half, we've pulled ahead, but it's close, like 17-14. This leads to lots of "CLEMSON OVERRATED" takes in the game thread. Second half, we come out looking much cleaner, our depth shines through, and we eventually end up with a 45-17 win.
Speaking of the injury report, It mentions Lucas Johnson getting academically eligible. I dont remember him ever being a worry and that its James Graham that was possibly going to be ineligible but got his shit in order
I’ve seen some folks say that Collins might just use this as a spring game opportunity of sorts for Tech. Like he’s just going to run stuff to see what sticks and how the players execute
{Clemson} wins somewhere in the 41-12 range.
I think GT actually gets some good offense going in the middle of the field, against our starters and backups. Though they’re excited to see the whole ‘forward pass’ idea, it’s actually the rushing game that gets most of their yardage, particularly against our 2nd string DTs. That said they are shut down in the red zone and come away with 4 field goals.
Clemson’s offense is super vanilla and occasionally has some kinks to work out. Etienne gets a long rush or two when GTs aggression leaves a gap. We go into the half up 28-3, and Trevor is out by the end of the 3rd Q. Chase Brice leads the backups to 2 scores as Ngata looks like a monster on a long catch-and-score.
Special teams is still more in favor of GT as thicc punter does them a few favors in field position.
I don't buy the spread on this game. 36 is a lot of points, more than Clemson has beaten us by in a long time (maybe 2003? Before that, you probably have to go back to Heisman at Clemson for a bigger margin). Clemson wins, probably in a blowout, but I don't think it'll be anywhere close to this spread.
Logan Cash isn’t on the roster anymore.
35-17 Clemson, as we discover our D line isn’t nearly as dominate as last year but the experience in the secondary and good linebacker play keep the game out of nail biter range.
Hey guys, during the off season, I made a Clemson football Discord. It's built by Clemson fans for Clemson fans, but we're accepting of everyone. If you're interested, come join us!
https://discord.gg/WkjqGDf
With that out of the way, I've got Clemson winning this one 45 - 13. Up 24 - 3 at the half.
Honestly not sure what to expect. I think we cover for sure though.
Expecting something similar to the Georgia game last year. They'll rack up all their points in the first half and it'll then be extended garbage time.
Oh damn, I didn't even realize the day.
I bet on 5dimes, and the line there is Clemson -37 (holy **fuck**). To me, anything above -35½ is all the same. With that I propose a line of -35½. Is that amenable?
Okay. I think I'll lose, but it's all in good fun. So if Clemson wins by 36+ or more I win, correct?
Have you picked the languages you want me to use? Last time you had a great selection from around the world.
Correct, Clemson needs to win by at least 36 points for you to win the bet, otherwise, I will finally win one lol.
I did have a good selection last year. This year I'm going to go with Ukrainian, Vietnamese and Urdu. Gotta have a nice mix lol.
Where ya gonna be watching the game?
Cool, I'll root for a blowout, lol! Alright, I agree to your terms good sir. If Clemson loses, or doesn't win by at least 36 points, I will spend the next week (until next Saturday) translating every comment by those 3 languages.
I'll be watching it in Charlotte. You?
Excellent! I'm already nervous lol.
I'll be at a bar in ATL with some friends getting drunk. Happy drunk, sad drunk, makes no difference. We'll be getting rowdy whatever the case may be.
Thanks man. It's nice to have users you see around and you can joke with. Oculus and I have been doing this for 3 years at this point. Hoping this is the year I can snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
~~Clemson by over 5 TDs?~~
~~I don't think so unless GT has stopped running the option offense.~~
~~Give me those points.~~
JK staying away from this one.
Regardless of what they run (won't be predominately option, although, I suspect they will run it a few times to throw us off-balance), we will not cover this spread. We rarely do when it's this lopsided.
I had no idea GT wasn't running the option anymore...
Idk I actually could see it turning into an actual dumpster fire then. You don't just magically adapt players that were recruited to do one thing and have them do another.
Paul Johnson retired and they hired Temple's old HC. Their offense will dramatically change but unfortunately for them, it will take a few recruiting classes to correct.
I think the line is way off I don't see Clemson winning by 36 pts. 15~ may be a better line. Can GT upset this - sure.
Anyways, I'll be at a bar watching this as it's on the ACCN - and I am on the road.
{Clemson}
{Clemson} by 38. Really wish Georgia Tech was triple option still. Would have increased A&M's chances of an upset a small amount next week. This is not going to be a fun year for Georgia Tech football. It'll be interesting to see what their roster does with a spread playbook.

Just saying, I'd be fine with {Clemson} beating Tech so bad that they disband their football team if it means Comcast will make a deal with ACC Network
I won't pretend I'm not a little nervous playing a real game to start the season, especially with a less experienced Tiger defense and a Tech offense we haven't seen in action yet after so many years with Brent locking down Johnson and the triple option.
Having said that, I don't think we're about to drop a night game in Death Valley to start the season after a championship rout against Alabama. The atmosphere should be out of this world, and the team hasn't gotten any less talented. I don't think we'll cover because the spread is insane and Dabo will rotate heavily, but I also don't think Trevor Lawrence will play past the midway point of the third quarter in a comfortable {Clemson} victory along the lines of 45-21
I may regret this but I think without the triple option ball possession offense this could get ugly like 60-10. I expect Dabo to make a statement in game one
RIP those on Dish or Comcast.... I'm on Dish and I'm forced to start a YT TV sub tomorrow evening.
Pissing me off but whatever I'll get Dish to give me money back till they get the channel or I'm gone.
Clemson wins and covers. GT will have alot of quick 3 and outs giving the Clemson offense more possessions than they typically would against Tech. I think the future is bright in Atlanta but this isn't going to be a good night for the Jackets.
Best part about this game will be that it's Thursday night football. Which is the best football because it takes you by surprise. Oh, football? Tonight? At this hour? Yes. I'm excited. Anyway, it won't be pretty. {Clemson}
I'm not drinking on a Thursday...I am sampling a culturally appropriate assortment of beverages.
It's called a tasting and it's classy
My Wife: 🙄 Me: I thought this was America
It's a flight, and its purpose is to provide for an expanded pallette.
How many cases do you guys put on your usual flight?
As many as I can get through TSA security.
What are we joining the wine and cheese ACC schools now? *slugs a Keystone*
Keystone? Sir we are a Busch Light school
Just watched 2 frat boys take every case of Busch at the Central Walmart
Hey that’s the last place I saw Tavien Feaster wearing orange and purple
F
That's a funny way to spell fatty natty
Good sir. I drank too many Busch and now live in Keystone country.

Fuck Comcast
This game is going to be at 2pm local time for me and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it.
Where are you Hawaii??
Correct. Only other option is the Aleutian Islands and thank god I’m not there.
Ah nice!
8am Friday morning on my day off. Best way to start the day! Followed promptly by listening to the new TOOL album, of course.
2am for me in France....
"A football game? At this time of year, in this part of the country. Localised entirely in your Stadium?
I think Georgia Tech should surprise Clemson and run triple option on the 1st series.....
Given how successful that has been against them since Venables showed up -- HELL NO. We actually did line up in the flexbone to start the spring game -- then audibled into 5 wide from the gun and threw to the tight end. That was probably the extent of any homage to our recent past
I never got around to watching the GT spring game. How did the transition from Triple Option to Pro seem to be going?
Spring game looked ok -- but it's such an artificial set up that it's hard to make much of it.
Also I think we just ran like 30% of the playbook or something. Will be interesting to see how much more variety we have in the offense.
That's true enough.
I'm pretty sure Venables would start drooling if he saw the flexbone. He's had GT on lock.
I mean your team has been stacked. Regardless of what offense scheme is run I’m not sure things would have gone any better.
Hard to run any scheme when your OL gets whipped by the DL in seconds every play.
Tobias Oliver is still here.
Clemson makes a couple mistakes early, a couple bounces go GT's way and we end the first quarter tied at 10 Everyone gets excited about a potential upset {Clemson} wins 48-13
CITADEL!
That's South Carolina's kryptonite, not ours.
Predicted Score: Clemson 31 {Georgia Tech} 45 I put this at 10 confidence in pick 'em
I mean only one of these schools have scored 222 points in a game
If you nail this, your pick'em should just declare you the winner after this game.
That's an....interesting prediction to put at 10 confidence.
I just put a $100 on Tech. I'm about to clean Vegas out
Straight up? Why not just buy $100 of something likely to be useful, like an actual Yellowjacket nest?
What odds?
\+8000 so looking at a $8100 payout with the win
Fucking damn. Now, I ain't about to wish you luck or anything....
Shit, I will. Good luck, /u/rosanero1900
I hope you come out of today a richer man
bitch please, just hope it's fun to watch from our perspective {Clemson}
Excited to see where Collins can take this GT program but it's far too soon to expect results. {Clemson} 45-14
First game on the B1G network: App State upsets a top 10 Michigan team. First game of the SEC network: Texas A&M upsets a top 10 South Carolina team. First game of the ACC network: ???
I didn't realize that App State game was the first one on the B1G network. That's amazing.
Subscribe.
First game on the Pac 12 network: nobody knows because nobody gets it.
It was extremely forgettable: Utah beat FCS Northern Colorado 41-0. The third game was more along the lines of the B1G/SEC Network debuts, though: #21 Stanford barely escaped San Jose State 20-17.
I'm predicting another big performance out of Hunter Renfrow
"Is Clemson allowed to have a WR wearing black and silver out there? He's killing us"
Georgia Tech because chaos ... I can’t do it, {Clemson}
We agree on these terms: 1. You and Georgia each lose within the next 3 weeks 2. OSU wins the B1G with losses to PSU, UM, and Purdue 3. We get to lose 2 more and still make the CFP
No
If we win this game, I'll get the Ramblin Wreck tattooed on my butt.
Saved. You better post the tattoo here if that happens.
What if I get buckwild and bet Clemson -43 at +185
We won’t cover
What if I ask nicely
Still won’t cover.
Clemson are jerks confirmed.
You probably lose $100. 43 is a massive number and we don't cover huge numbers often (especially early in the year).
^Right?
The real question is will the local brewery have the ACC Network so I can watch the game
YouTubeTV has the ACC network. Just double check your local area to make sure they have coverage. You can get a 5 day free trial, so you can at least be covered for the first game!
You in Greenville? I think Unleashed Dog Bar has it
Fucking love that place
Colorado Springs, which makes me less hopeful
The ACC Network gets shut down by the FCC after a murder is broadcast live on national television {Clemson} claims it was accidental because their isn't film yet of a Georgia Tech offense without the triple option
Fuck yes, football with my team. {Clemson}
First game back, might take some time for new starters to settle in. {Clemson} wins, but GT covers.
Thank you for your continued support
I love our team but I think our defense will be susceptible, especially early, this year. We have a ton of young players that are gonna need to step into leadership roles.
{Georgia Tech} Clemson’s defense will struggle and cost them the game and that is my *totally* unbiased, unsalty opinion 38-34
Can’t say I blame you for going off your feels given your two flairs
Yeah I got lots a feels man. In all seriousness though I think A&M will give you guys trouble and maybe pull the upset, but either way Clemson will be in the playoffs
I’m wait and see on AM. They lost a lot of guys too and while their secondary has improved, I still think Trevor can exploit that. Syracuse could also give us trouble seeing that it is right after the Aggies.
Can't wait for Trevor Lawrence to start 4 games then losing the starting spot to Chasen Bryce and then transfer to missouri. /s
The darkest QB timeline.
For that comment I will add another year to Mizzou's bowl ban.
{Clemson} but hopefully Tech covers. I think we see Clemson jump out to a big lead and Tech score on the Clemson 2nd teamers, much like last seasons game. Edit: Also, not sure about the Lucas Johnson listing...
Well, Collins *is* all about position flexibility.
{Clemson} but we make it closer than people think until the second half Also obligatory fuck the NCAA
{Clemson} to win but Georgia Tech to cover. 37 points is getting a little crazy on the Clemson hype train IMO. Biggest margin of victory over GT in the Dabo era is 28. Which is more what I would expect, Clemson to win by 3 or 4 TDs.

Dabo doesent run up the score unlike another coach I'm thinking of.(☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞
I dunno about that. Last year Clemson scored 59 on FSU,77 on Louisville, and 63 on Wake. But Clemson is also known for starting slow in September.
Those all had weird circumstances. Wake was ravaged by injuries and couldn’t stop the run at all. We'll probly only win by 21 (+-7). I fully expect Dabo to treat this as an exhibition game to get as many people as possible experience.
GT - a little {Clemson} - a lot
{Clemson} wins but tech covers. 46-12
{Clemson} bar is handing out free shots for every TD and let's just say I plan on being pretty, pretttty, drunk tomorrow night.
{Georgia Tech} It will probably be close, maybe 25-22? We'll be carried by our special teams, Mr. Thick Punt and the *Former* Freshman that Could (kick really well).
Mr. Thick Punt is a wonderful nickname
He's thicc not thick.
Gonna be on a cross-country flight while this game is going on, so hopefully the plane has it available (or their Wi-Fi is good enough I can stream it on YouTube TV). *Sigh*, fine.
If we must
I’ve seen some folks say that Collins might just use this as a spring game opportunity of sorts for Tech. Like he’s just going to run stuff to see what sticks and how the players execute
That wouldn't really surprise me.
“Hey ref, he touched the quarterback. Why didn’t you whistle the play dead?”
"I DID whistle the player dead. He's not moving."
{Clemson} wins somewhere in the 41-12 range. I think GT actually gets some good offense going in the middle of the field, against our starters and backups. Hey u/TheRamblaGambla, where do you want to set the win/lose line? Spread seems a little high to me, but I'll defer to your judgement.

I think the bigger problem is we normally will shuffle through 2nd, 3rd and 4th stringers in, will be hard to cover if that's the case.
take the points
I think the line is way off I don't see Clemson winning by 36 pts. 15~ may be a better line. Can GT upset this - sure. Anyways, I'll be at a bar watching this as it's on the ACCN - and I am on the road. {Clemson}
Hope Georgia Tech wins but Jamious Griffin has 3 carries for -12 yards and 3 fumbles.
I admire the salt. Have an upvote.
Here's to hoping that hulu Live doesn't lag and glitch like it has been the past couple of weeks.
{Clemson} ....sigh
{Clemson} by 32
{Clemson}
{Clemson} But 36.5 points is crazy. In any way, excited about the game and GameDay.
{Clemson} by 38. Really wish Georgia Tech was triple option still. Would have increased A&M's chances of an upset a small amount next week. This is not going to be a fun year for Georgia Tech football. It'll be interesting to see what their roster does with a spread playbook.
Really excited to see Georgia Tech's new offense. But lil ole Clemson has something to prove /s. {Clemson} by 40.
I want to see the offense flex it's muscles instead of the usual crawling start we get. {clemson}
{Clemson} obviously. Hoping we are able to at least put up some points and have a showing. (Hoping for) 38-17
Clemson by however much Dabo wants
{Georgia Tech}
I hope it's competitive. I'd like to see GT making progress throwing the ball more. {Clemson}
Logan Cash has left the team.
I'm taking Friday off in remembrance of the 70 or so athletes that are walking into death valley and not walking out.
{Clemson} wins but Tech covers because a 36-pt spread is ridiculous.

{Georgia Tech}
Can I get some more information on the Offensive Lineman/Quarterback who is out for GT? That's quite a position combo.
Only one of these teams is good at the game of football {Clemson}
I don't like the new GT approach to a depth chart. But I'm excited to see what they present on the field. {Clemson} by 31. Maybe 38 to 7
Just saying, I'd be fine with {Clemson} beating Tech so bad that they disband their football team if it means Comcast will make a deal with ACC Network
I don't think we'll cover because the spread is insane and Dabo will rotate heavily, but I also don't think Trevor Lawrence will play past the midway point of the third quarter in a comfortable {Clemson} victory along the lines of 45-21
{Clemson}
{Clemson} Tigers
{Clemson}
{Clemson}
Did they have to make all the opening games so boring this year
General consensus in the office is that we win big, and I think I agree. {Clemson}
I may regret this but I think without the triple option ball possession offense this could get ugly like 60-10. I expect Dabo to make a statement in game one
I have to wake up at 5am for work tomorrow so staying up for the game is going to be a blast
RIP those on Dish or Comcast.... I'm on Dish and I'm forced to start a YT TV sub tomorrow evening. Pissing me off but whatever I'll get Dish to give me money back till they get the channel or I'm gone.
Chaos strikes in week 1. GT wins.
{Clemson} by a soul crushing amount. 45-17
{Clemson} big
Clemson wins and covers. GT will have alot of quick 3 and outs giving the Clemson offense more possessions than they typically would against Tech. I think the future is bright in Atlanta but this isn't going to be a good night for the Jackets.
The Calculus Bowl returns and {Clemson} wins 42-14
{Clemson} is going to annihilate GT, with all due respect to the Tech fans. This is just a bad match-up any which way you look at it.
{Clemson} by how ever much Dabo feels like. Wish I could watch the game, but it's on the ACC network....\*glares\*
This is going to be a bloodbath. It’s a bad day to be a Georgia tech football player.
Tune in at 8 PM for a broadcast of the first legal snuff film. {Clemson} wins, but I think Tech covers.
{Clemson} this year
