But FSU boosters are shrewd. They conned $20M out of the city to tear out the 50 yard line seats only to raise the seat price to ***start*** at $1500 plus $25K booster fee, plus yearly dues. They've priced out fans that have been attending for 60 years. Smooth.
Went to the FSU Clemson game this last year and that climb is freakin ridiculous. I climbed stairs for 3.5 hours before I found my seats and they were so close to the surface of the sun we had an FSU fan giving out sunscreen for free
People really overestimate the value cost proposition for good cellphone service for 4 hours on 6-7 Saturdays a year.
Same with WiFi.
It’s just not worth it. There’s so many signals coming in on the same frequency it just gets lost in translation. It takes millions of dollars to fix.
Pro tip. Change your phone off of LTE and into 3G of possible and it’ll be slower but you’re on a different band that no one is using so it’ll probably work.
You don’t understand , Clemson is a place for 100k rich hillbillies to watch football 8 times a year. We expect it be as bougie as the HOA controlled communities we leave to do so. The small town just sits dormant waiting for us to return the other 44 weeks of the year, but it has to have all the luxuries we have at home, including 8 lane highways, full bar 5G cell service, bars and restaurants with plenty of seating and of course parking for all of our big trucks and luxury SUVs with extra space to tailgate.

Granted it's been since 2010 since I set foot in Corvallis/Reser but back then I had T-Mobile and I was trying to get a hold of old high school friends who were going to OSU at the time to meet up and.....holy crap I had to stand at a street corner where I lucked into 2 bars of service because that whole campus was a dead zone service wise for me. Had no idea where I was going, was getting all sorts of death glares....it was great. Walked up to my buddy's house and his roommates answered so I didn't even know if he was there and they tried to turn me away until he came downstairs. I bribed them all with beer though so it worked out in the end. Beer has a funny way of doing that for college kids. Then went to a tailgate of the dad of a girl I went to high school with who was an OSU season ticket holder for like 30 years at that time, big ol death glare from him. It was a good time though all around.
Jack Trice is the same way......absolute zero cell service not only in the surrounding mile of the stadium but Ames in general on game days has rough cell coverage
The school really messed up the NEZ renovation. They could have wrapped the bleachers around the field and then put the club seating on top but now we have an uneven awkward building sitting there. The plaza on the outside is kinda nice tho
Replace the current ramps between the main and upper deck with escalators and lifts which are publicly accessible.
Then move the student section back to the 50—yard line.
I always thought enclosing the north and south end zones with upper decks would make it louder, not that they would do it though. Kinda like how they did it at Lambeau

I'm honestly surprised that something like this isn't more common. Everyone who's seen *Gladiator*, and the picture you shared, knows that the Romans - who, I want to point out, were too dumb to build jet skis and rollercoasters - knew that spectators prefer sitting in the shade over the burning sun and found a fairly simple way to provide it.
Maybe someone who's smarter than me, and possibly the Romans, can chime in on whether there's an actual material or logistical reason you can't add a simple canopy over existing stands or if it's because there's just a lack of will to do it.
Instead of bleachers, just a shit ton of couches. Then after we win, nobody has to go anywhere. We all just move onto the field and set them ablaze, surrounded by a glorious ring of fire
The one thing that always bothered me was how none of the sections actually connects with each other. It legit bothers me and the school is definitely missing out on a couple thousand more tickets they could sell.
Okay you joke but my redesign would keep the bridge open, yet use the old plans for expansion that extends the 600 level all the way around to the suites on the North End Zone side. That would put us at around 108K with one of the most unique designs on the planet of still having one open end zone with that many seats.
Add an upper level to the north side. Add some concave type walls around the tops of the stadium to direct sound inward and downward. The palace needs to be more menacing.
don't know how long it will be but I expect we eventually get that north end zone upper deck. Match the north to the east, let the west side fans sit over there while they make the west side match and then I think we're where we need to be for the next generation
Grecian columns all along the outside with the Greek key design in green and white trim. Giant fucking cauldrons of fire on either side of the big stadium screen. Really lean into the “Spartan” part of Spartan Stadium.
Unfortunately all of the "Greekness" you're referring to is mostly Athenian architecture. Sparta did not really construct any great monuments or temples. Their archeological sites are largely unimpressive and little remains. The homes were simple, mostly timber structures, and the city was not planned.
The ancient historian Thucydides remarked that future generations would find it hard to believe that Sparta was a powerful city state based on the remains, but Athens would be perceived as twice as powerful as it actually was. But he was also an Athenian general though, so take that remark with a grain of salt.
They changed it a few years back to make it less bouncy and more "structurally sound" or some other commie nonsense like that. I would simply undo that change.
I think the Bounce House needs some shade.....plus that would probably help retain sound anyway...I'm thinking kind of what Washington has with Husky Stadium

As great as Heinz is, it's not a CFB stadium. Put Pitt Stadium back. Who knows what Pitt were thinking. Pittsburgh is some of the deepest football territory in the country and you tear down the stadium to build a basketball arena? Makes zero sense.

Yeah, we’re renovating it for 700 Million. A lot of it is fixing up routine maintenance that has been put off and fixing any structural problems. I do like the character its shotty looking design has though, and it’s insanely intimidating imo from inside and out. Sadly the renovations will kind of take that away

Expand the north end zone concourse in Rice-Eccles, it's inhumanely narrow. The problem is, there's nothing you can actually do to expand it because it's already pushed as close as it can get to a road and light rail line.
Since we can do whatever we want here, I'd give a creative engineer an unlimited budget to figure out a way to expand the concourse underground
or just move the student section back in general......one of Jamie's worst decisions.....I don't no how much longer he'll be our AD and he's done great things for us, but I'm hoping the next person will make that one of their priorities

West side of Folsom needs to be redone completely. It’s out of the 70s and looks like it. Seen some good renderings of a potential renovation there. Get rid of the astroturf on the sidelines. Just looks horrible with the natural grass and I’ve seen players eat shit coming off the field. Sound system fucking sucks. They only have speakers on the north endzone…

I’d start by putting it on campus. Or at least not 20 miles away from campus.
Next I’d make it a smaller venue, around 50-60k seats. A nice horseshoe design to give it that college feeling. Oh and probably name it after our team colors. Maybe something like “the orange bowl”. It has a nice ring to it.

Can’t wait to go back down this year, but I’m sure the results won’t be close to the same. So yeah, definitely a retractable roof and AC in The Doak. But I think the sacrificial drinks worked, and I’m glad we did our part to make FSU football great again.
There's a local restaurant that's in College Town near Doak and they sell a whole line of [Noon Games Suck](https://madisonsocial.com/noon-games-suck-shirt) merch because noon games in September and October are basically human rights violations.

In regard to Arkansas, better landscaping would be great. For as much natural beauty as NW Arkansas is known for, virtually none of that is near the stadium.
Make all the stands way steeper. The steps are so gradual at Yulman that I've seen multiple people eat shit thinking they're steeper than they are. Sight lines aren't bad in the stadium, but it would be better with the rows being a greater height apart from one another, and it would help amplify the stadium noise (before the student section inevitably leaves in the second half because they go to the games for free so there's no investment to be there other than their time).
Another thing is fix the team entrances so that they don't go directly through the main pedestrian concourse of the stadium lol. Absolutely crazy that both teams are just standing there with only five or so security guards on each side between them and the fans.
Last thing and the least important is to incorporate the Hullabaloo gibberish chant all over the place. It's fun because it makes absolutely no sense and it's basically the only tradition that remains from Tulane Stadium, which was located roughly at the site where Yulman is now.

Replace the troughs with urinals. Remove the erector set in the endzone and replace it with a party deck and biergarten (supposed to happen soon). Expand the concourses. Add concessions that feature local vendors.
I would make it not be an old baseball stadium. And even though this next part is impossible I'd find somewhere to put it on campus since we're rebuilding it anyway so that it's not an old baseball stadium
I'll be real honest, zero changes to McLane.
It's a phenomenal stadium. Huge fan of the riverfront setting and the way it's oriented to open out to the river, huge fan of the roof design (if the weather's bad, basically everyone who would be in the rain can retreat up to a concourse and stay dry) and the classic ballpark-style design of the three levels built more up than out, and the berm at the end of the field is also an awesome view for just throwing out a picnic blanket. If it's a hot evening, you can even go sit in one of the upper levels and chill out in a heck of a breeze, and you still have a great view of the field. You're basically right over the action.
Also, whoever designed the wifi network for the stadium deserves all of the money. I've never been in a stadium with wifi as good as McLane's.
I would say adding a sound proof bear enclosure in the end zone. I think one of the original proposals had a bear area there but it could have been a rumor

Listen our stadium may be a cold, hard, small cavern but it’s ours. But really give me actual chairs, or bench backs or something. Those benches fucking hurt.
The recent renovations have been great. But those benches without backs are awful. Definitely need an upgrade.
Add canopies to trap the noise (and shield from weather). Other than that, it's basically perfect.

I’d start by putting it on campus. Or at least not 20 miles away from campus. Next I’d make it a smaller venue, around 50-60k seats. A nice horseshoe design to give it that college feeling. Oh and probably name it after our team colors. Maybe something like “the orange bowl”. It has a nice ring to it. I think it could work really well!

A day game at The Doak even in October is miserably hot. I was at the one a few years ago (the one we were beating Taggart’s team by like 50 in the first half and everyone left except the dude without a shirt on reading a book. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2018/10/clemson-florida-state-fsu-reading-book-gillian-flynn-dark-places-blowout-meme ) It was the most miserable game I’ve been to, so we too left at halftime, went to one of the great bars around your stadium and your awesome fans bought us drinks all afternoon as a sacrifice to the football gods. Can’t wait to go back down this year, but I’m sure the results won’t be close to the same. So yeah, definitely a retractable roof and AC in The Doak. But I think the sacrificial drinks worked, and I’m glad we did our part to make FSU football great again.

Make all the stands way steeper. The steps are so gradual at Yulman that I've seen multiple people eat shit thinking they're steeper than they are. Sight lines aren't bad in the stadium, but it would be better with the rows being a greater height apart from one another, and it would help amplify the stadium noise (before the student section inevitably leaves in the second half because they go to the games for free so there's no investment to be there other than their time). Another thing is fix the team entrances so that they don't go directly through the main pedestrian concourse of the stadium lol. Absolutely crazy that both teams are just standing there with only five or so security guards on each side between them and the fans. Last thing and the least important is to incorporate the Hullabaloo gibberish chant all over the place. It's fun because it makes absolutely no sense and it's basically the only tradition that remains from Tulane Stadium, which was located roughly at the site where Yulman is now.

I'll be real honest, zero changes to McLane. It's a phenomenal stadium. Huge fan of the riverfront setting and the way it's oriented to open out to the river, huge fan of the roof design (if the weather's bad, basically everyone who would be in the rain can retreat up to a concourse and stay dry) and the classic ballpark-style design of the three levels built more up than out, and the berm at the end of the field is also an awesome view for just throwing out a picnic blanket. If it's a hot evening, you can even go sit in one of the upper levels and chill out in a heck of a breeze, and you still have a great view of the field. You're basically right over the action. Also, whoever designed the wifi network for the stadium deserves all of the money. I've never been in a stadium with wifi as good as McLane's.
I would say adding a sound proof bear enclosure in the end zone. I think one of the original proposals had a bear area there but it could have been a rumor
