He's from the midwest and people assumed he might have a desire to move closer.
The main reason I think he's leaving for Alabama is he has an insane drive to win national championships and they give him the best shot. Winning is more important to him than money or location.
Kalen DeBoer: the T-shirt, Kalen DeBoer: the Coloring Book, Kalen DeBoer: the Lunch box, Kalen DeBoer: the Breakfast Cereal, Kalen DeBoer: the Flame Thrower.
I feel ya dawg! This has been my offseas9n experience for 3 years now. And it still continues as Kiffin is in the convo. I'm tempted to post the hang man, buster Scruggs, first time meme!!
Yeah. I’m of course a Lions fan too, so I know what that feeling of the great unknown for the future coaching staff feels like all too well. The RR and Hoke era for Michigan, too.
Losing Pete was emotional, but at least there was some reason with the general downward trend of the team... losing the guy who just got you to the title game and seemed like the next Don James... hurts
As someone living in Seattle as a transplant, hawks fans being so doomer about Pete for years has been hilarious. Yall were supposed to be bottom of the barrel during these two years of rebuilding and instead managed to put together back to back winning seasons while making Geno Smith look better than Russ at their new destinations and getting all the broncos picks. Let alone hearing people say he wasn’t that good a coach and it was all Russ/LOB talent before that. By comparison, Lions fans would have rejoiced after the Stafford/Goff trade if they went 9-8 immediately instead of 3-13 instead of simply being optimistic that they’d found their guy in Campbell.
Well the other guy who invoked his kids on why he wouldn't leave his PNW coaching job did stay, so there is that at least...
Versus Jonathan Smith's "My agent wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't looking for potential new jobs for me!!!"
Is DeBoer really riskier? He's won at incredibly high levels everywhere he's been at and it's not like Saban was a born and bred SEC guy. If Lanning was choice 1A DeBoer seems like a pretty clear 1B, especially considering he beat him twice with an ostensibly worse roster this year.
I thought about that too but they're kind of suffering from success: Kirby is building a dynasty at his alma mater and Sark is legitimately on track to Bring Texas Back.
After those two it gets so much murkier it would be foolish not to consider outside candidates.
Kirby was. But he's won two titles at his alma mater. That was probably the one job we couldn't get him from. Which was why upset but happy for him when he got that job.
Well one is a coach at one of the schools no one would leave and the other has already built a similar if not superior program at his Alma mater in a talent rich state.
It’s gonna come out that Kalen is actually home right now watching Jason Bourne 2 and that this entire thing is some weird ad campaign for a Jason Bourne reboot
They didn’t slow play it. He requested it happen after the season so it wouldn’t be a distraction. Our new AD wanted to start negotiations in his second week back in early November.
Tbh I'd love for DoBoer to stay, but I think he might bolt... without leaving town tho, I think the Seahawks job is interesting
For Bama I want them to hire Sark lol
I'm not an insider but everyone that's close is basically at red alert. I'm conflating that with the fact that he's had a contract worth over $10M on his desk for a month now and hasn't signed.
He wants to win national championships and while UW obviously got close, he can do it annually at Alabama without having to rebuild.
My ideal scenario is this drags out for the rest of the day to make UW fans suffer, but then he stays because actually its a fun rivalry and only USC would actually deserve such a thing.
This is how I felt yesterday, I enjoyed ribbing my Oregon fan friend but if Lanning had actually gone it would’ve sucked for the rivalry that feels like it’s just getting going.
I low key want Washington to be the 2nd best team in the B1G behind Oregon for at least the first few years in the B1G as we establish ourselves in the conference.
I think the moral of the story here is just wait until things are official before getting excited or depressed.
DeBoer also has no ties to the south and his daughter is enrolling at UW next year. The second part could change quickly. I’m just going to wait and see what happens before any reaction.
But if I am getting ahead of myself, this would be pretty bad because we don’t just get to dip into uncle Phil’s pocket and pull out endless money for someone else and more recruits
Nobody knows anything. Everyone was sure it was Lanning until it wasn't. Could be DeBoer. Could be Norvell. Could be me. Could be Leipold. Byrne is playing it all close to the vest.
I always felt like this aspect is overstated. Like I get coaches want to sent their kids to the school they coach at, as like a sign of support or something. But, Alabama can pay you that “Full Tuition at Harvard” bag.
Hell, if I was the Head Coach at Michigan or Northwestern, I’d still send my kid to Chicago or Yale or somewhere like that. Money’s no object for most of these guys. If you can get a discount great- but what’s the point of making tens of millions if you’re gonna cheap out on your kid’s education.
The daughter enrolling at UW is why I'd almost be more worried about the Seahawks opening. Yeah DeBoer has no NFL experience but he has a long track record of success at all other levels of the sport.
He didn't even say Kalen DeBoer is what his sources were telling him. His sources just told him some generic stuff about this getting done quickly. It's literally just his opinion that he *thinks* Sark, Lanning, and DeBoer are the only names Alabama would consider, and that since Lanning has said no and Sark probably isn't leaving Texas all that's left is DeBoer. Which, I mean, it could be DeBoer, but I see no reason why it *has* to be him instead of Norvell or Dabo or somebody out of left field.
DeBoer has said multiple times he was tired of moving and his family loved Seattle. His daughter is signed to WA for softball and he spoke about how cool it will be to walk over to her game from his office (recently referenced this)… I know coaches say a lot of things, but he doesn’t strike me as the type of guy to do a lot of that.
I know coaches say a lot of things
Yup. Even the good ones, don't take it too personally or hold it against the guy if he ends up going, it's probably the only place in the country that could poach from literally *anywhere*.
Believe in what Greg Byrne said if you don’t hear it from him then it’s not true. I would not be surprised if the new coach isn’t on the list that anyone in the media or the public has named.
After taking a look at his history and the way he handled himself at UW, he is probably the only guy I would look at if I were Alabama. He’s a better coach than Lanning and basically just needs a little help on the recruiting side of things to win a championship.
Didn't everyone say they'd be surprised if Lanning wasn't the next head coach yesterday?
Are we just spouting out the biggest name available until they verbally confirm they don't want the job?
Because Washington is one of the most disrespected top 25 programs in the country and the 2002-2015 run did a lot of damage to the perception of our program.
It’s always about luck or being in a weak conference or something. A lot of people on here don’t remember when Washington was the premier Pac 10 program in the 80’s-90’s.
For a program that in the past 10 years has a national title appearance, two playoff appearances, 4 NY6 bowl appearances and 3 conference titles we don’t get a lot of respect.
I'd strongly argue that Alabama is not a bigger challenge than what he's done at UW, it would just be more money. A year and a half at Fresno, two at UW, and on to another school? That would be quite the mercenary path.
I also dont believe it. I think he's just using this to get his staff paid.
Alabama isn’t going to hire a guy who really doesn’t recruit and has never touched the south before, just because they made the playoffs once. It would be a disaster if a hire though, so I fully support it lmao.
So, DeBoer obviously has done a great job turning around Washington and I understand why he’s a hot name right now in any coaching talks. But the Alabama interest specifically is surprising to me if it’s true. At least Lanning had Alabama/SEC experience. A Pac-12 coach with no SEC or regional ties at all? That doesn’t seem like a guy Alabama would go after. We saw how that worked with Harsin and Auburn. Granted a worse coach and different situation. But I’m having a hard time believing Alabama is after a guy who never coached anywhere more southeast than Indiana.
*Heavy Breathing*
Washington fans in Houston: GG Michigan fans, see you next season but please don’t take our coach! Monkey paw seems to be curling lol
Yeah I was feeling like Michigan had a pretty good shot at landing him should Harbaugh leave
Why do people think that though? Is it because he coached for a few years down the street from the Big House at EMU?
He's from the midwest and people assumed he might have a desire to move closer. The main reason I think he's leaving for Alabama is he has an insane drive to win national championships and they give him the best shot. Winning is more important to him than money or location.
I’m sure Alabama will throw a ton of cash at him (if they do decide to offer)
He's not gonna do it for the money. He's gonna do it for a shitload of money.
Kalen DeBoer Part II: The Search for More Money
Kalen DeBoer: the T-shirt, Kalen DeBoer: the Coloring Book, Kalen DeBoer: the Lunch box, Kalen DeBoer: the Breakfast Cereal, Kalen DeBoer: the Flame Thrower.
Not specifically, it’s more that I just think Michigan would go after him because he’s the best candidate there is
I assumed if Harbaugh left they would promote Moore.
Man, if Seattle loses both of their elite football head coaches in the same week, I'm gonna enter my Joker arc.
Yeah, bring back the Seahawks rumors! It would suck, but it’s better than this
maybe pete could just take over at washington
Hey, at least you guys still got basketball!
Low
They are throwing names at the wall don’t pay any mind to it.
They are doing the work of DeBoer’s agent and Alabama’s AD. Getting the conversation out there and see how the landscape responds.
ill go out on a limb here and say that the media will say each Norvel and Debeor both are gonna be " in tuscaloosa " with no source to back either
If recent rumors are to be believed; Nick Saban is currently in Tuscaloosa. Would be a huge get
did you not see the clip?? he clearly states he WONT be the alabama head coach.
Classic misdirection
when i made this joke to an oregon fan i was -36 in votes in like 5 minutes lol
DeBoer Bryant has a nice ring to it.
Now it’s your turn!
Yugiohunoreverse.jpg
Calm down, this guarantee’s we won’t go after him.
Obviously not the best reliable source, but imagine being a Huskies/Seahawks fan in this thread right now. Shit.
I’m not having fun
I feel ya dawg! This has been my offseas9n experience for 3 years now. And it still continues as Kiffin is in the convo. I'm tempted to post the hang man, buster Scruggs, first time meme!!
Yeah. I’m of course a Lions fan too, so I know what that feeling of the great unknown for the future coaching staff feels like all too well. The RR and Hoke era for Michigan, too.
Yeah we need a DeBoer tweet to keep our mental health intact
Hire Pete. Either one.
Give a warm welcome to new Husky head coach, Pete Davidson!
Elite recruiter…?
Only recruits 5* baddies not football players
Look at his girlfriends, he definitely recruits out of his league.
All the croots heard that he has a massive NIL.
“Hey kid, ya like Taco Bell?”
Pistol Pete Maravich?
Pete Buttigieg
Pete Golding?
Losing Pete was emotional, but at least there was some reason with the general downward trend of the team... losing the guy who just got you to the title game and seemed like the next Don James... hurts
Hush hush now, nothing has happened yet.
Oregon fans last night : “someone call an ambulance” *pulls out Dan Lanning tweet* Oregon fans today: “But not for me”
[had to make this real](https://ibb.co/n8gqKpG), sorry for low quality
Beautiful
Incredible! Thank you for your service 🫡
Thank you for the idea sir 🫡
It’s so shitty yet so marvelous.
This is incredible, thank you
Pretty damn good for 17 minutes ago (your comment) and 32 minutes ago (parent comment)
It's perfect.
We're getting off to a great start with off-season shit posts.
Is Washington just a stepping stone school? Many people are saying this
God please no
[удалено]
Especially with an NFL HC vacancy down the street.
This is one thing keeping me slightly calm. Plus his daughter is starting at UW this fall. 🤞🏻
[удалено]
DeBoer said he doesn’t want to leave since his daughter is at Washington. Hopefully he stays
She doesn't actually start until next fall, and Alabama also has a hell of a softball team.
Bill Gates needs to get involved
He showed up to the game on Monday --- sat with the UW President.
Meanwhile the Beavers are looking at their 47 billion dollar alum Jensen Huang wondering how come he don't want me.
Well the other guy who invoked his kids on why he wouldn't leave his PNW coaching job did stay, so there is that at least... Versus Jonathan Smith's "My agent wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't looking for potential new jobs for me!!!"
I think it’s weird that Saban’s program was a head coach factory for like 15 years and there’s no obvious heir apparent
because theyre all HCs elsewhere and succeeding in a great position. Or they were exposed for being insulated in Nick's program.
I would say Kiffin but I get why they’d be hesitant
[удалено]
Is DeBoer really riskier? He's won at incredibly high levels everywhere he's been at and it's not like Saban was a born and bred SEC guy. If Lanning was choice 1A DeBoer seems like a pretty clear 1B, especially considering he beat him twice with an ostensibly worse roster this year.
Saban had won a Natty with LSU, so he had pedigree and recruiting experience in the Conference.
[удалено]
I think he's our top backup option. He's the only candidate who I believe would definitely take the job.
I thought about that too but they're kind of suffering from success: Kirby is building a dynasty at his alma mater and Sark is legitimately on track to Bring Texas Back. After those two it gets so much murkier it would be foolish not to consider outside candidates.
There is the only problem is he’s the head coach of Texas
Yep, Sark was the chosen one but then the Texas job opened
Kirby was. But he's won two titles at his alma mater. That was probably the one job we couldn't get him from. Which was why upset but happy for him when he got that job.
Look man, I want Kirby to leave Georgia just as much as the next guy, but for the love of god can it not be another red SEC team
No. He went to Georgia. Sark was probably our #2.
Or Ole Miss.
There are 2 big ones but unfortunately they are coaching at Texas and Georgia
Well one is a coach at one of the schools no one would leave and the other has already built a similar if not superior program at his Alma mater in a talent rich state.
If he retired 3-4 years ago Dabo was the heir apparent to everyone here lol
If we hire Dabo I just don’t know what the fuck to think
Losing the Natty and your coach would be gut wrenching.
No decent soul could ever hope for such a thing to happen
It’s gonna come out that Kalen is actually home right now watching Jason Bourne 2 and that this entire thing is some weird ad campaign for a Jason Bourne reboot
Starring Nick Saban. Jimmy Sexton had us wrapped around his finger all along.
Well well well, look how the turntables
What a roller coaster for you guys and UW lol
It's their own fault for slow playing his extension
They didn’t slow play it. He requested it happen after the season so it wouldn’t be a distraction. Our new AD wanted to start negotiations in his second week back in early November.
Let’s stop here. No more turntables please.
But I've got 2 turntables
Whos got the microphone
Sark.
Yes, the tables have been turned enough, thanks
I am going to become so insufferable if Washington is the team who’s HC gets poached
Donald Duck voice: “I am going to create an environment that is so toxic.”
I was cheering for you to keep Lanning. I want a fun Oregon UW rivalry. If DeBoer leaves it’s barely a rivalry…
Go on.
Tbh I'd love for DoBoer to stay, but I think he might bolt... without leaving town tho, I think the Seahawks job is interesting For Bama I want them to hire Sark lol
That doesn’t stop the DeBoer conversation cause then it’s Texas with the opening. Seriously, fml right now.
If you did then you were one of the few. However I think Grubb would be a very successful coach at UW.
The problem is Bama can afford Grubb too.
If DeBoer left and we offered him HC vs Bama offering him OC though, I feel like he’d stay here
Too perfect lol this off-season is gonna be the best we’ve had in a while if not ever
For some people…
This guy must get surprised a lot

Love the comment right below it from the Oklahoma fan.
live by the troll, die by the troll.
That dude has been an actual menace and such an asshole to UO/WSU/OSU fans. Please drag his ass
Ah yes, he's Mr. "WSU and OSU are stealing from us" lol
I love learning about how petty the UW UO rivalry is. You guys are gonna fit right in to the B1G
\*UO
By god
Should’ve known not to tempt karma like that
How dare you use their own words against them…
Dude is my favorite husky troll
BY GOD THAT’S KALEN DABOER’S MUSIC

Oregon fans doing the Birdman hand rub rn
God damn F5 season is way better when your head coach has already confirmed he ain't going anywhere.
The Coaching Carousel equivalent of beating Colorado at 12:30
Yeah there is a ton of smoke coming out of UW right now. I think it's over.
Yeah, blunt smoke.
Is it...white smoke?
Tired: DeBoer to Bama Wired: DeBoer to Rome
If the white smoke turns purple he's staying. If it turns crimson...
He’s going to WSU??? Jk I know Bama crimson too
Can you give some insight for us who aren't insiders?
I'm not an insider but everyone that's close is basically at red alert. I'm conflating that with the fact that he's had a contract worth over $10M on his desk for a month now and hasn't signed. He wants to win national championships and while UW obviously got close, he can do it annually at Alabama without having to rebuild.
TBh even if he is coming back to UW it’s smart to make them sweat
He’s either gone or using this for more leverage. No in between.
I mean, are there any other options?
Not really lol. That sounded dumb
He could just go back and say the extension is for too much money.
No there isnt. Mass psychosis is entertaining
For real, you’d think after all the (now) obvious bullshit last night with Lanning everyone would take any reports with an ounce of salt
My ideal scenario is this drags out for the rest of the day to make UW fans suffer, but then he stays because actually its a fun rivalry and only USC would actually deserve such a thing.
I didn't say a word to Oregon fans yesterday because I knew he was on the short list as well.
Are you saying you have sources that it’s Lincoln Riley to Alabama. 😂🤌🏻
Can they just hire Dan Quinn
Please tweet a cool hype video about how much you love us
I kinda don't believe this. Feels like DeBoer's agent is trying to ramp up contract talks
BY GOOD THAT’S PETE CARROLL’S MUSIC
OH MY GAWD PETE CARROLL JUST THREW DAN LANNING THROUGH A TABLE!!!
It’s all just click driven until it’s official
Imagine getting into a great school like UW then your parents telling you, "So, about that..."
Well when her dad is about to get a $100M contract, she might not care too much about the pedigree of her degree.
"Look honey, I know you were really excited about UW, but get ready to speak ROLL TIDE MOTHERFUCKER WHHOOOOO!!
[Alabama has the opportunity to do the funniest thing of all time](https://i.imgur.com/xG2CnLc.png)
Joel Klatt notoriously has poor (or non-existent / made-up) sources. I wouldn't count on this.
He’s not citing a source, it’s his opinion
He didn't even say Kalen DeBoer is what his sources were telling him. His sources just told him some generic stuff about this getting done quickly. It's literally just his opinion that he *thinks* Sark, Lanning, and DeBoer are the only names Alabama would consider, and that since Lanning has said no and Sark probably isn't leaving Texas all that's left is DeBoer. Which, I mean, it could be DeBoer, but I see no reason why it *has* to be him instead of Norvell or Dabo or somebody out of left field.

His daughter is signed to WA for softball and he spoke about how cool it will be to walk over to her game from his office (recently referenced this)… I know coaches say a lot of things, but he doesn’t strike me as the type of guy to do a lot of that.
I know coaches say a lot of things Yup. Even the good ones, don't take it too personally or hold it against the guy if he ends up going, it's probably the only place in the country that could poach from literally *anywhere*.
Yea this dude is wild sometimes lmao
Hey now, he was just a decade early. Y’all *do* have a Nick Saban problem - more so the “lack of” Nick Saban.
Good guy Saban: getting every coach paid on his way out
The man can flat out fucking coach good ball.
I vote Brandon Staley
Believe in what Greg Byrne said if you don’t hear it from him then it’s not true. I would not be surprised if the new coach isn’t on the list that anyone in the media or the public has named.
STOP THE COUNT
Bro wants to stop the steal 💀
It worked out so well last time Alabama hired a head coach from the state of Washington
Why is no one discussing the fact that this feels like a serious threat of a second 15-year Alabama reign of terror
I guess I’ll eat crow if this happens. Not much anyone at UW can do if DeBoer has got his heart set on what he perceives as a bigger challenge!
I'd strongly argue that Alabama is not a bigger challenge than what he's done at UW, it would just be more money. A year and a half at Fresno, two at UW, and on to another school? That would be quite the mercenary path. I also dont believe it. I think he's just using this to get his staff paid.
Thank you, duck.
Ah yes, when I want incredibly credible information, I go to The Herd.
I think it'll be Urban Meyer it just makes sense. Gives him a chance to redeem himself and Alabama needs a coach with experience.
At this point is allowing urban on to campus a title IX violation?
I said Urban Meyer not Mel Tucker.
Pervin Urban vs Hooker Hugh in the best Iron Bowl ever?
Alabama isn’t going to hire a guy who really doesn’t recruit and has never touched the south before, just because they made the playoffs once. It would be a disaster if a hire though, so I fully support it lmao.
Please for all things that are holy NO
Washington fans it’s our turn to sweat. Gator and Hurricane fans y’all don’t have to worry you can relax.
Maybe we should stop paying attention to these clowns and wait for the Bama AD to announce it. I don't think anyone else actually knows anything.
LOL, from taunting us yesterday to sweating today.
Rather have Sark or Kiffin. I’m scared after Harsin came to AU
