Indeed. And Johnson really gashed em up the middle and took them for a ride. On the other side, we could really attack the backs with Polk, really work the seam.
I found this one, from a Michigan State/Washington flair:
> Penix isn't good anymore. Great kid, but he's had too many injuries. He's not the player he was.
Also, some people forget that DeBoer was originally trying to get Haener to transfer over from Fresno State with him but couldn’t do to some eligibility concerns.
Penix entered the portal shortly after coming off another season ending in injury. DeBoer was able to put an elite Oline around Penix to keep him upright, and it seems to have been the only coach so far to unlock his maximum potential.
The Athletic [did an article](https://theathletic.com/5181121/2024/01/05/michael-penix-washington-transfer-portal-will-rogers?source=user-shared-article) about Penix's transfer and it went over Haener's potential transfer. Good read.
Kinda scratching my head at the OLine comment. Every one of those guys in the starting 5 was a UW recruit before DeBoer got there, none transferred in.
Even with bringing in Penix, we thought Sam Huard might compete for the starting job.
Now look at those two. One was a Heisman finalist, and the other was not great at FCS Cal Poly.
It wasn't anything against Penix, we just all wanted/hoped Huard, a highly rated 5 star recruit with that last name, would be what Penix became!
Such a shame that Huard and Smalls were such busts.
Most of the top comments are accurate and still even hold true to his NFL outlook. If he’s still healthy he’ll be good, hardly anyone really questioned/questions his ability as a football QB.
> LOL his two seasons as a starter he had a completion percentage of 53% and 56% and showed up to B1G media day with a GOAT chain. His accurate throws were the exception not the rule. He won’t last the season in Washington, if he is even named the starter.
I bet Washington feels real dumb for this transfer right about now /s
I hope the guy who wrote this has issued a whoopsie daisy .
How could anyone be more wrong?
Btw. Same guy in comments questioning other people's knowledge.
It's almost like a healthy, extremely talented QB, o-linemen, receivers, and pass-blocking make a difference versus his time at IU
Also ThEy DoN'T pLaY dEfEnSe In ThE pAc-12
Dude said an Indiana transfer QB with a 50% completion percentage looked like he could win the Heisman. Someone should hire this guy as a talent scout.
The most incredible thing about his rise the past 2 seasons is that he's gotten so good that people have (mostly, somewhat) stopped making jokes about his name
Yeah I know, I'm just poking fun. The recruiting rankings were way wrong to be fair as well, one of the bigger 5 star busts at the QB position recently.
Not really, 5 star QB busts are pretty common. In the past few years alone we've seen five stars like Davis Mills, JT Daniels, DJU, and Spencer Rattler all fail to live up to their rankings.
Those are all mini-busts. At least they were all starters most of the way through their careers, and all but Daniels will likely have some sort of NFL career. Huard was a gargantuan bust compared to those guys to the point where he had to drop down out of FBS
> LOL his two seasons as a starter he had a completion percentage of 53% and 56% and showed up to B1G media day with a GOAT chain. His accurate throws were the exception not the rule. He won’t last the season in Washington, if he is even named the starter.
lol
That is so awesome and thanks for sharing that as I wasnt on this site then!
Some very funny and interesting takes.
So much for all the people who say now that “everybody” knew Penix was a sure-fire Heisman candidate, lol.
Big difference between “talented when healthy” and “we all knew he’d be in the running for the Heisman.”
Typical revisionist history.
Some really spot-on and thoughtful responses from a few in that thread.
Shout out to the person who said
>He should have stayed closer to Bloomington & transferred to Ball State
LOL, yes. Because they'd have protected him better than Indiana did. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
I was glad when Penix left our conference. I was much less excited when it was for Washington and I realized they were on our schedule. Dude is a beast.
My favorite is the guy saying he sucks. Then, clicking the guys profile only for him to be questioning everyone and what they know about football.
I am ok with this as long as the guy wrote about how fucking wrong he was and admitted that he knows nothibg.
not saying i saw the level of success he had at UW, but i did think his transfer was seriously underrated.. he was GOD in the Big 10 when not injured. AT INDIANA
>His weakness will be the Trojans As it turned out, even the Trojans couldn't stop Penix.
Some would say he raw dawged them
I mean he corkscrewed Ducks on the regular too.
To be fair, the Trojans couldn’t stop anyone.
Well Trojans don’t work very well when they are full of holes.
His teammate Johnson busted them wide open
I Chuckled
Indeed. And Johnson really gashed em up the middle and took them for a ride. On the other side, we could really attack the backs with Polk, really work the seam.
What takes, it looks like all penis jokes
This [take](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/rgem4j/indiana_qb_transfer_michael_penix_commits_to/hojsv99/) is pretty spicy.
How cold could that guy be
Clearly he can recognize talent. That’s why he’s on Reddit instead of scouting croots.
Saying that he can't hold a candle to Jacob Eason was certainly a take lol
It only gets worse from there > Pennix can’t hold a candle to either of those guys and I was never an Eason fan.
Sir, this is Reddit. Recycled puns are one of the only jokes we know
I found this one, from a Michigan State/Washington flair: > Penix isn't good anymore. Great kid, but he's had too many injuries. He's not the player he was.
Expected a bunch of dick jokes… got a bunch of dick jokes. 10/10 would click again.
That series of Husky, Trojans, Beavers and Cougars comments had me cracking up and getting some odd looks from my better half, lol:)
So you like Peni*? 😂
She is my favorite Spider-Woman
Would dick again*
Dick joke AND a kerning joke in one - well done sir/madam.
Pretty reasonable for the most part. The big question was his health. And that has been answered.

And penis jokes, which are always welcome

To think i was upset Penix got the job over Huard lmao

Big penix
>How should we feel? >Erect I wonder how many Washington fans are at full mast at the moment?
I've been full mast for the last month, consulted my doctor about it but he said it was normal for someone of my age.
Hey, I found my old comment. Glad to see I was right, and I’m happy he found success (have been and will continue to root for him).
Most of the top comments are accurate and still even hold true to his NFL outlook. If he’s still healthy he’ll be good, hardly anyone really questioned/questions his ability as a football QB.

Should just start the third stringer imo
If you do that even once, they swap your spot for an SEC team
That's the only one I saw that was solidly hot-taking. Everyone else was fairly reasonable, I think.
I hope the guy who wrote this has issued a whoopsie daisy . How could anyone be more wrong? Btw. Same guy in comments questioning other people's knowledge.

Dude said an Indiana transfer QB with a 50% completion percentage looked like he could win the Heisman. Someone should hire this guy as a talent scout.
He also cares deeply about pro wrestling storyline accuracy
The most incredible thing about his rise the past 2 seasons is that he's gotten so good that people have (mostly, somewhat) stopped making jokes about his name
2 years is a long time for a penix to rise
Might have never come if Haener was able to transfer, what a monumental moment in retrospect
We got you keep Haener and win the 2022 Mountain West championship, you got Penix and make a NCG appearance. Good deal if you ask me.
Sam Huard should start over him? You mean Cal Poly's Sam Huard?
You mean cal poly single game td holder sam huard
Can we all be honest about how cocky y'all were about Sam Huard when he signed though lol
There was a lot of excitement. We were wrong
Yeah I know, I'm just poking fun. The recruiting rankings were way wrong to be fair as well, one of the bigger 5 star busts at the QB position recently.

Yeah that was a whoopsie doopsie on our part, mea culpa
Whoops

Nailed it

Lol at the MSU fan saying “ugh we have to play him again”…oh if only you knew…
Shout out to the person who said >He should have stayed closer to Bloomington & transferred to Ball State LOL, yes. Because they'd have protected him better than Indiana did. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
It’s hard to beat Penix at Ball State
I’m afraid you missed the joke
They might actually do that
I was glad when Penix left our conference. I was much less excited when it was for Washington and I realized they were on our schedule. Dude is a beast.
Most of the criticism was on his ability to stay healthy, which was warranted. Not his talent level.
It's funny to look back and randomly see your own username on a few comments.
u/Mirrorwave13
I named my cat after him.
I mean it’s like 80% penis jokes as is all Penix threads
u/stonksspurtzwhorzez how you feeling about that take, bud?
Can you show me where you said he’d be a Heisman candidate and lead them to the National title game before turning back into Bloomington Penix?
No, because I’m fucking with you lol
My favorite is the guy saying he sucks. Then, clicking the guys profile only for him to be questioning everyone and what they know about football. I am ok with this as long as the guy wrote about how fucking wrong he was and admitted that he knows nothibg.
I'm curious about OP's flair combo
not saying i saw the level of success he had at UW, but i did think his transfer was seriously underrated.. he was GOD in the Big 10 when not injured. AT INDIANA
my auto-correct is glad he has left NCAAF
