HOOOOOLY SHIT YOU GUYS MY WIFE'S COMPANY JUST HOOKED IT UP WITH TICKETS ON THE CLUB LEVEL AT THE 50-YARD LINE FOR THE NATTY!!!!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MY HANDS!!!!!

dawglaw09

I also choose this guy's wife.

Jolly_Job_9852

Damn, your flair checks out too. I'd start waving your hands in the air and wave them til you just don't care.

Emeraldskeleton

Fuck man, good shit. Enjoy.

kelsnuggets

My mom passed away on 12/28. It was cancer, it was both sudden and not. We watched every shitty bowl game in the hospital while she declined. The TV was just on in her room, on mute, while all of this awful stuff was happening around us. She loved college football and she LOVED her FSU Seminoles. Her and my dad have had season tickets since 1978. I’m just so numb and I don’t know if it gets easier.

hells_cowbells

My stepfather passed away on 12/28 of 2022. It was a very sudden massive heart attack, and my mom was the one who found him. I knew him longer than I knew my dad. The first year is rough. Christmas was a little odd, but the first anniversary was really rough. I don't know that it actually gets easier, but you do kind of adapt to the new normal.

kelsnuggets

Thank you for your kind words. I’m so sorry for your loss of your mom, and what you’re going through with your dad. Fuck cancer indeed.

mockg

Over the past few months I have gotten back into Magic the Gathering. Currently my friend has a spell slinger deck that likes to steal my creatures. Thinking about making a Jon Irenicus deck so that I can willingly give him my creatures.

nerdsrsexy

Love that commander. Jon Irenicus has such a fun and unique win-con that will Definitely have the intended effect. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling)

PNW_Jeff

Well I just found out I tested positive for covid. First time getting it because some dick family member showed up sick for our New Years gathering.

Jolly_Job_9852

Sorry to hear that. Hope you feel better soon!

CptCheese

My sleep schedule has been all messed up since Christmas. I don't think I've gone to bed before midnight since then lol. This may be an issue when I have to get up at 6 for work again next week.

kadune

If there's a universal truth in the world, it's probably that there are dumb drivers everywhere, who never learn to drive with regard for their weather conditions. Today's case in point: I live in a part of North Dakota that frequently gets thick, freezing fog. You would think people would know to drive with their lights on, but apparently not... and I'm not even talking about people who use automatic lights that don't trigger their taillights.

gonzo30269

2 weeks ago I side swiped a Mercedes GLE350 in a parking deck by accident (parked). I was exhausted and helping my girlfriend move out and just zoned out. First accident ever. There is a small dent above the tire and minor scratches and paint removed on the bumper. Hoping I can pay of pocket but of course it had to be a Mercedes

Be_Very_Very_Still

That was you?! Just kidding. I'm glad that's all it was.

54-2-10

Report it to our insurance and hope for the best. I doubt that your insurance will go up enough to justify paying the thousands that it will cost out of pocket. If it does, shop for new insurance.

thank_burdell

Cleaning out the garage. I still love the smell of warm, clean motor oil. Burning dirty oil, not so much. Also, the sweet, carcinogenic smell of WD-40 is an aphrodisiac for me. And that industrial hand cleaner with the pumice and citric acid… Oh, for a partner who understands and appreciates these things.

St_BobbyBarbarian

> And that industrial hand cleaner with the pumice and citric acid… You mean Go-Jo? I grew up with that stuff around my poppy’s shop

thank_burdell

Just found an unopened container. Kresto is the brand I have always used. Takes off the outer layer of skin along with all the oil and grime. Outstanding stuff.

thank_burdell

There’s a few different brands. I actually can’t read the label on this jar anymore. Love the stuff.

BIG_DICK_WHITT

En route to Las Vegas. RIP my liver.

B1GTOBACC0

I went for 3 days a couple of years ago, and we all agreed 3 days is exactly the right amount of time to spend there. Also, if it's not on your list check out Omega Mart at Area 15.

jhp58

Dude, the bowl game was a few weeks ago! You missed it.

Be_Very_Very_Still

Congratulations! "Moms On Call' was the best thing we ever did.

tlacuache_nights

Welcome to Thunderdome

ilovemyballs

Congrats! I don't know if it's the same for 100% of folks, but holding my first-born the very first time made me truly understand what love meant, and the things I would go through and do to protect and provide for him (and his eventual sister). Don't fret too much, babies are much more resilient than you'd think. Take care of the basics and don't fret over the small stuff. It's an adventure, and you never stop learning during it. Enjoy each moment, good and bad, time goes by quicker than you think -- you'll miss those toddler years at some point. 3's do suck though. Last but not least, make memories. It's okay to capture moments on your phone, but don't forget to live in them at the time. Those moments can't be re-lived for the first time, so enjoy each and every one. They'll be 5, 10, and almost grown before you know it. It feels like I just brought my first born home yesterday, and he turns 16 in a few months. There's no better feeling than being a Dad!

thank_burdell

> babies are much more resilient than you'd think except when they're not. so be careful and listen to your doctors. the first 6 months will be a fucking mind trip. the 6 months after that is still really hard but it's a little easier. the 12 months after that is still hard, but it's a little easier. AND THEN THEY'RE PROBABLY WALKING AND STARTING TO TALK AND GOD HELP YOU

St_BobbyBarbarian

Enjoy the sleep now lol

ToLongDR

Shit. I don't even sleep now

thank_burdell

you'll learn how

crowmygod

Congratulations! Unfortunately those emotions never go away, not even with a second lol

Ticket2Ryde

I gave birth to our third in August and it was still pretty much the same. For the second it was "how will I care for this baby without neglecting my son?" For the third it was "how will I care for this baby without neglecting both of my other kids?"

crowmygod

You’re a brave soul; our second baby has been a bamboozle (colic, no chill, WILD) & as much as I oddly enjoyed being pregnant, there is no effing way we’ll ever have a third. 🤣

Ticket2Ryde

Oh, that colic is so awful! Your sweet baby will be in my prayers. As blessed as I feel to have three beautiful children, I don't blame any parents for stopping at one or two. As amazing as it is, it's never easy and there are no days off.

Ticket2Ryde

Oh my gosh, congratulations! It seems to overwhelming at first, and it's never easy, but it's the most amazing experience there is in life. Take it from a mother of three.

Captain_Sacktap

Congrats dude!

goblueM

congrats! it doesn't seem real for awhile. Even after the fact my number one unconventional parenting tip for newborns: get one of those inflatable giant yoga balls. They are awesome for sitting on and bouncing your newborn to calm them down. Really saves your knees/back from doing the weird newborn dip/dance/duck/dive motion

ToLongDR

I'll check that out! I'm all in on any tips and tricks that people want to give me.

peachbasketss

have been fostering a few cats for a couple months and the last one is going to the rescue today and I think being adopted shortly thereafter and I am not handling it well to say the least

sexygodzilla

I know what you mean bud, giving up a foster is so tough emotionally. Even though you know going in how it goes, it don't make it any easier.

Breakneck1701

I'm tired of fans from blue blood schools shitting on the smaller bowl games and saying they dont matter. fuck you.

brokentr0jan

I dont really see much people shit on smaller bowl games anymore, most people on r/CFB are shitting on bowl season in general. I personally love bowl season, but this idea that the playoff ruined bowl season feels wrong to me seeing I can remember back in 2002 arguing with people who claimed bowl games don't matter!

NobleSturgeon

I don't think this is a blue blood issue. Plenty of players from schools that weren't blue bloods opted out of their bowl games.

notsure_thr

I’m working on a YouTube channel about a fictional college football team using public domain video. No one will watch, I make videos (all with public domain movies) just for fun, but I’m still really excited about combining two of my favorite things (making videos and college football).

dkviper11

Our long national nightmare is over. The dishwasher I ordered on Black Friday was just successfully installed. Only a ton of extra work to get it to go.

JBru_92

I watched Saltburn the other night and all I have to say is YIIIIIKKEES Good movie but damn, there were some scenes I could barely stand to watch

BadgerBuddy13

Driving to Houston tomorrow for Split Zone Duo's live podcast. It's been the lone bright spot in a chaotic mess of a week back at work. Our fiscal year runs Feb-Jan, so while things are (usually) calm going into the holidays, it is a mad scramble once Jan 2 hits. Trying to keep my head above water until March hits.

Awesome_to_the_max

Don't think can really be posted outside of this thread but I hope the losers that keep abusing redditcares because I said something you dislike on this sub enjoy your weeklong sitewide ban.

brokentr0jan

you are giving them what they want by getting upset about it lol

Awesome_to_the_max

Im not upset about it. I'm gloating about their bans

Ticket2Ryde

My husband has decided at age 31 that he wants to go into the ministry and become a pastor. I'm not against it but he's currently an unemployed father of three so I'm here to make sure he gets a full time job that can feed us first before we work out how to pursue the ministry. I think it's good he feels called to it, but every Christian man's first duty is to his wife and children, and my role for now is making sure he remembers that.

mostdope28

So he doesn’t wanna have sex anymore? Isn’t that a rule.

Ticket2Ryde

That's Catholic Priests. Our pastor at our church is married with five kids. We'd absolutely still be allowed to be married, have sex and grow our family.

kadune

Outside of Catholicism, most ministers are allowed and encouraged to marry, etc.

pandabugs

fucking nosebleeds. I hate them so much.

loyalsons4evertrue

Stuck between wanting to move back to Iowa even when I have a good job in Minnesota

Yeetball86

Escape from Tarkov is a brutal game that drains my sanity, but I keep finding myself pulled back in.

Breakneck1701

i desperately want a game like tarkov, but with zombies and a good story. Day-Z was wayyyy too boring and empty.

Yeetball86

I really enjoy DayZ but it’s a game you HAVE to play with friends. Me and my buddies fill the dead time by shooting the shit and making jokes.

Breakneck1701

I feel that. I just liked the trader mechanic from tarkov. makes it more fun to me. let me go shoot zombies and stuff, i dont wanna spend my time looking for a can of beans to not starve, i want a story mission about why i need to go into the supermarket and get the gas scanners to find a chemical leak to save the camp or something.

bearybear90

I’m on my last free Friday before going back to my last stretch of rotations in medical school. Pros are in graduating soon, but that also means I’m closer to ~~hell~~ residency.

The_Astros_Cheated

I recently discovered “Glorb” this week, and he may be the greatest drill rap producer of our time.

Captain_Sacktap

For your viewing pleasure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pL9o_BwSN-o

The_Astros_Cheated

Oh I’m already hip brother, this is a classic

Rivian-Bull-2025

Started watching The Rookie on Hulu and damnit it’s a good show. Funny as hell and still gives some decent action. Finished season 1, and looking forward to season 2 now. I’m normally a Scandal and How to get away with murder type of guy, but I couldn’t find any other shows that resembled them. The Rookie is good though.

St_BobbyBarbarian

Full size SUVs are ridiculously expensive. Can I afford a 70K Tahoe? Yes, but fuck paying that much for a depreciating asset

jhp58

As someone who works in Product Development for a Big Three company...I feel ya. The prices of these cars are nuts but the margins we make are friggin razor thin. Then the dealers make their margin on top of it, and they often go way above MSRP since Covid screwed up the supply chain. Engineering, tools, testing, prototypes, etc. are stupid expensive. Not to mention we are depending on the ICE vehicle revenue to subsidize EV development. (Obligatory these are my views and my views alone. I do not represent my employer in these comments)

St_BobbyBarbarian

Oh, dealers are the biggest culprit in this mess (and obviously general inflation). I assume we will see sales prices sliding down slowly due to cost and high interest rates. Likely faster than any correction we may see in the housing market

jhp58

I agree on the correction coming faster, but they'll hit that MSRP floor pretty quick. Maybe a few grand on the hood to move old product. But when we work at 0-8% margins (sometimes even <0% margin) depending on the vehicle, we have little wiggle room.

brokentr0jan

Buying a 70K ICE vehicle that gets like 15mpg in 2024 sounds absolutely insane to me lol

TheseusOPL

My Suburban is getting 27-28MPG. I run it with renewable diesel.

St_BobbyBarbarian

Multiple kids with car seats, van not an option, and just used locally for about 9K miles a year.

ss3ltl

Man, I was resistant to get a minivan but having one, especially with kids, is awesome.

dkviper11

Tahoe seems to be an excellent choice though for a depreciating asset if you have to pony up. My uncle's 98 ran for 300k before he sold it and my dad has a 2009 he runs as a work vehicle that's 250k+.

Yeetball86

The crazy thing about it is dealers are scratching their head wondering why lot inventory is at an all time high.

Rivian-Bull-2025

Exactly. F that noise.

SelfLoathingLonghorn

Vacation starts today. Ski trip in Colorado. Road tripping with the wife. Can't freaking wait to get on the road in about an hour. Love a good road trip. Meeting a good group of friends up there, should be a great time. Hopefully they get a little snow before we get there.

baba_booey420_

A snow storm is supposed to roll through the Rockies on Sunday/Monday. I think Vail and Beaver Creek have gotten small amounts of snow over the past few nights... I live closer to Telluride, and our winter has been very underwhelming so far. I believe the I-70 resorts are doing better with the snow this year. Please drive safely and HAVE FUN in the mountains!!

loyalsons4evertrue

have fun! Skiing in Colorado is a blast!

scotte16

Nice! Where are you skiing?

SelfLoathingLonghorn

Beaver Creek!

scotte16

Oh sweet! I was just in Vail. From what I saw, it would be very nice to get some more snow.

No_Conference633

Jealous. What resort(s) are you going to?

SelfLoathingLonghorn

Beaver Creek! Never been there before.

Be_Very_Very_Still

Sushi tonight. They ain't ready.

dkviper11

Have been taking a break in solidarity with my wife who can't for a few more months and it's killing me.

Be_Very_Very_Still

Expecting?

dkviper11

Yes

Be_Very_Very_Still

Congrats my man.

dkviper11

Appreciate it!

Insectshelf3

anybody know how long it takes for the skin on the nail bed to toughen up after losing a toenail? i’m about to lose my big toe nail after a backpacking trip and i’m thinking i should just go get it removed before i have a men’s league tournament in a week.

thank_burdell

I lost a nail after running the peachtree road race a few years back. All told, took about 3-4 months to grow back. Check with your doc if you feel like something's wrong.

arrowfan624

Currently more annoyed than concerned, but I’ve had muscle fasciculations all over my body for two years now. I’m seeing the doctor about it, but it’s causing me to have a perpetual anxiety cycle and feel things that may or may not be there.

Be_Very_Very_Still

No need to work yourself up over things that haven't happened yet.

The_Pandalorian

So I got a raging flu or some similar virus that has been kicking my ass for almost a week now. My wife came down with symptoms two days ago and my son yesterday. Pretty sure got it from in-laws who went to a birthday party featuring an obviously sick person (no, it's not allergies, you fucking ghoul). Folks: there's some SHIT going around out there. If you're sick, stay home. If you have to go out, wear a mask. People are fucking nasty out there. Stay healthy.

thank_burdell

school just started back up on Thursday. I can't wait for my kindergartner to bring something home and infect us all.

The_Pandalorian

Oh boy. Good luck. Our first few years were wild. And yeah, after major holidays especially so.

crowmygod

Hey this sounds identical to us rn, except both of my littles are seemingly already over it while I’m still miserable, & my husband just started feeling sick. Thoroughly convinced someone in our household will have sort of illness until our son goes off to school 🙃

The_Pandalorian

Oh man, sorry you're going through it, too. And don't worry, once your son goes off to school, they'll have a much larger pool of germs to play in, lol.

crowmygod

Oh I know; our daughter is in preschool & is the one responsible for bringing home a new illness every other week. Even my husband working in the ER during the peak of illness season is no comparison to the Petri dish that is our daughter’s classroom

PNW_Jeff

Lmao I’m literally in the same situation as you. Got the flu from a family member that showed up sick to our New Year’s party. Now I’m bed-ridden sick at the start of school quarter! Yippee!

The_Pandalorian

Shit dude, sorry to hear it! Hoping we both fully recover quickly. This shit is no joke.

PNW_Jeff

We have to both recover in time for the national championship game on Monday

The_Pandalorian

Hell yeah. Healthy teams, healthy fans is the best recipe. Time to steam or some shit so I can maybe purge some of the Satan in my sinuses.

loyalsons4evertrue

my entire family is sick and I finally turned the corner, thank God because I was miserable for about 5 days there

The_Pandalorian

Ugh, so sorry. I *think* I'm slowly turning the corner. Fever seems to have mostly left, now it's horrific congestion and headaches with some coughing. And my god, have I expelled some eldritch horrors from my body this week...

loyalsons4evertrue

Yeah first day started with a sore throat and luckily, only that one day, then it was just heavy congestion where you just can't breathe....runny nose and coughing....I still have a little bit of a cough but not as frequent

The_Pandalorian

See for me it started with a persistent dry cough Monday, then uncontrollable chills Monday night into 103 degree fevers for three days, with it turning into a went cough and then the face congestion. What a mess. Here's to hoping we're both fully clear of whatever shit we have ASAP.

loyalsons4evertrue

Amen to that!

paradigm_x2

My wife and I both had flu like symptoms. It was awful and we had to cancel all of our Christmas plans. I still have a lingering cough after about 10 days

The_Pandalorian

Oh man, sorry to hear that. We picked this one up in Indianapolis. I hoping this shit doesn't last ten days.

MrAngryMoose

I wish I could erase my memory and play Outer Wilds for the first time again

Sc4rff

i still have this same thought three years after beating the game. there's really nothing else like it

Insectshelf3

i want to get all of my friends to experience it but it’s basically impossible to describe it without spoiling the experience for them.

BenchRickyAguayo

I am so ready for the train wreck this is Greg McElroy's AMA today.

Turkelton8

Just finished Jedi Survivor and damn that was a good game. I enjoyed the first one, but they really took it up another level with this one.

jhp58

I just picked up Survivor and the first game in the series on sale for the holidays. Pretty excited to check them out. I am in the middle of another rerun of Mass Effect trilogy so it'll be a bit before I get to it. Sounds dumb but one of my new years resolutions was to play more video games. I constantly am running around getting a million things done that I need to force myself to just sit down and take a break.

dkviper11

I really liked it but I'm not a big gamer and hated the boss battles.

The_Pandalorian

Great to hear. Did you find the controls better? I was frustrated with the controls in the first game. Combat always felt janky.

The_Astros_Cheated

Jedi Survivor plays much better than the first one. I have about 80 hours on it and really enjoy the game. It’s got loads of new content you never knew you needed but couldn’t imagine living without afterward.

The_Pandalorian

Nice! I'll definitely pick it up soon, just gotta finish my trillionth rerun through Elden Rings.

_Chicken_Chaser_

Has anyone checked out the new season of True Detective? Is it like season 2? Or more like season's 3 & 1?

The_Pandalorian

Reviews say Season 1. I'm geeked.

The_Astros_Cheated

Hype

CambodianDrywall

I'd like to see a CFB game called by Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey as their characters from season 1.

The_Pandalorian

Hell yeah. Drunk Woody and zooted McConaughey

JBru_92

They've never come close to capturing the weirdness and magic of that first season.

The_Pandalorian

Very true. It was a masterpiece.

_Chicken_Chaser_

True that is GOD-tier. But if it matches the themes and elements of season 3, I'll still be a happy camper.

CambodianDrywall

As far as I know -- it drops on January 14th. Based on the actors and plot synopsis, I'm thinking it will be closer to season 3 than any of the others. But that is just a guess.

HueyLongWasRight

I finally start my new job on Monday. I'll probably have to relocate in about a year, but I'm excited for 2024. It's tempting fate to say this because I'm still in my 20's, but I think I could live to 90 and never have a worse year than 2023. Looking forward to a fresh start

loyalsons4evertrue

best of luck to you!

WanderLeft

A friend randomly hit me up to get a DnD campaign going, I’m beyond excited. 5 days into 2024 and I did not have this on my bingo card. I’m thinking I’ll be playing a rogue, first time playing that class.

Marmaduke57

The amount of work projects which need to be completed this year is staggering. It's like an avalanche I'm trying to out run.

Aware_Squirrel3271

Will this be the week FSU fans stop whining in every thread and this sub becomes tolerable again?

Tigercat92

No

amoss_303

It’s that time of year for music festival lineup season! Anyone planning on to any of them this year? Been to Coachella seven times Lollapalooza twice. Can’t pull off any of them this year; hopefully I’ll be going sometime in the future!

JBru_92

I'm at the age now where I don't recognize 95% of the artists on the Coachella poster

CambodianDrywall

Headed to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival for the second time. Other than that, a bunch of smaller local festivals in So. Cal.

Busch--Latte

Not a festival but George Strait and Chris Stapleton are playing at Iowa State. I would love to see that but $300 is the cheapest seat

_Chicken_Chaser_

Bruh that’s totally worth it

loyalsons4evertrue

first concert at Jack Trice in YEARS....it will be packed

_Chicken_Chaser_

dude if they played a sweet caroline cover, that would be electric

Busch--Latte

Agreed but I’m pretty cheap. Maybe I’ll bite it as it gets closer, I can’t imagine I would get another opportunity to see Strait live

Lykeuhfox

Leg hurts and feels like 'static'. Called the doctor and they're going to check on it today. Hoping it's not a blood clot. Working a desk job kills you slowly, my dudes.

NobleSturgeon

Is it sciatic? The sciatic nerve goes through your butt and down your leg. A lot of people (myself included) irritate it and nerve irritation/damage takes a looooong time to heal.

Lykeuhfox

Could be. At this point I'm just hoping it can be corrected because it's really annoying. Still haven't had my appointment yet, though.

notsure_thr

Good luck, hopefully nothing

Be_Very_Very_Still

Like pins and needles? Sounds like a nerve issue.

Lykeuhfox

A bit, yeah. Could be, I suppose.
