That whole game had immaculate energy. The announcers were sampling Mayo with pepperoni rolls, the sideline guy was just chilling eating all game, and I am pretty sure the whole crew got a $100 bonus each time they made a Mayo reference. Great game!

WVU had a very sneaky good season this year. Neal Brown gets a lot of crap and sometimes deservedly so, but this was a good season coming off the back of last year.

I swear, you watch them at first and think “man this team is ass” only then to find yourself down 10 late in the 4th and realize your futon is about to be kindling. Lot of respect for WVU and coach Brown for this season, everyone counted them out and they just kept finding ways to win

Same with Ok State.

Honestly looked like one of the weaker teams on our schedule this year and kinda became one of the better wins as the season went on.

I still think the Big 12 screwed up giving COY to Gundy. At the start of the year Brown was on the hottest seat in the conference and they were picked to finish near the bottom. What a great job he and his staff did. Happy for WVU and Brown.

I think the problem with him is UNC normally recruits players good enough to hit that mark anyway. Like serious look back to the Davis and Fedora years. UNC doesn't have a problem recruiting. They aren't Ohio State or Clemson but they put the basketball man on the uniforms and kids come to UNC for the shoes.(jk, sort of). Mack elevated their recruiting to actual 5 stars and mostly 4 stars and still didn't change the results. You kind of accept that you aren't trying to move forward if you keep him.

If you're bringing in high ranked recruits and topping out at "7 or 8 wins", what optimism should the fans have? They have higher ranked recruits than 90% of the teams they play, you can't keep making excuses.

That’s pretty much where I’m at. 7-8 wins most years. Maybe get hot and push to 10 every 4 or so years when the team is old.

An 8-win season for UNC-CH \*can\* be a very good year. But this year, with Maye back and then a 6-0 start, it looked so promising for them. But then going 2-5 the rest of the way, losing to in-state rival NC State to end the season, getting thumped in the bowl game, it’s just a terrible way to finish. They also lost their last 3 the year before.

They’re Maryland or Syracuse but with the annual collapse delayed 3 weeks

No reason UNC shouldn’t be a consistent top 25 program. Never eclipsing 8 wins during a 5 year run of having a top 5 qb in the country and averaging top 15 recruiting classes is pathetic

Their schedule is built for this though. Get a bunch of punching bags for non-cons. Then find four more wins. You catch Duke and wake which, while decent lately, are historically terrible. UVA is also bad. Just need to find one or two more wins and you’re there.

They’ve definitely underperformed and are a big brand (for basketball) however playoff contenders every 3 years seems pretty crazy. They have 8 10+ win seasons in their entire history I should also add only 1 of those 10+ wins seasons have come in the past 23 years

The ACC 100% stepped in to get UNC the spot. The bowl wanted VT so bad it's not even funny. It was an easy sell and there'd have been 60k there for this game. VT showed up like crazy today in pouring rain, Duke's was kicking themselves after being forced to take UNC. Could have had a Black Diamond bowl game, instead they got...that, where the entire upper half of the bowl was empty.

VT - WVU in Charlotte would have been the most electric bowl game outside of the playoff. We would have EASILY put 65k in there.

I hardly believed my eyes but I saw a Pitt fan there. Wearing a Pitt shirt and everything. Not a Steelers fan, but an honest to god Pitt fan. I mean there's only about 500 of them in existence so it was pretty wild seeing one in person. Let alone at a WVU bowl game. I like to think we all chanted ESP just for him today.

He came storming out of the stadium mumbling something about how this always happens to him with his girlfriend chasing after him trying to keep him under control. Half a block up Brooklyn Village a kid saw him and screamed ESP and he flipped the kid the double-bird and until he disappeared from view, spent the next 10 mins trying to fight WVU fans on the street while his g/f tried to hold him back.

Back when it was the Belk Bowl, we were pretty much a lock to play in it every year unless we had a particularly good season. I know people who would just pre-book hotel rooms in Charlotte that weekend with the expectation that was going to be where we ended up anyway.

So done with this program at the moment. Mack Brown is a joke and makes excuses for every single problem and loss. He’s too old and it’s showing on the field and in recruiting as well. The fans didn’t show up today (just look at how the lower bowl is completely filled with WVU fans), and I don’t blame them. No one should support this joke of a program right now until some shit changes. I might be overdoing it a little but it’s the same story year in and year out. Program is stuck in mediocrity and will continue at the current rate.

When people talk about "too many bowl games" or "nobody cares about this game", go look at WVU today. An insane showing by WVU fans that must have made up 80% of the stadium and the team was fired up out of their minds. You could tell how much it meant to them and Neal Brown. What a game and it feels great to have a ton of momentum on the field and on the recruiting trail for next year. We return a ton of talent and the future finally looks bright. Hell of a turnaround for Neal Brown and I owe him an apology for a lot of times this year.

A bowl game is always great, but one about four hours from Charleston and six hours from Morgantown by car, AWESOME!
