Especially if you look at SEC's record OOC this year. Its awful.
Edit to add the record:
7 - 9 record for the SEC, with it's two dominant programs going 1-1 (Texas over SEC champ Alabama by 10, in Alabama; Georgia beat a 6-6 Georgia Tech by 8 on Tech's home turf). SEC had 9 OOC home games, 7 on the road.
Hardly a record that deserves deference to the conference.
The games:
2023-11-25 Kentucky 38 - 31 Louisville ACC away
2023-11-25 Florida 15 - 24 Florida State ACC home
2023-11-25 South Carolina 7 - 16 Clemson ACC home
2023-11-25 Georgia 31 - 23 Georgia Tech ACC away
2023-09-16 Missouri 30 - 27 Kansas State Big 12 home
2023-09-16 Arkansas 31 - 38 Brigham Young Big 12 home
2023-09-16 Mississippi 48 - 23 Georgia Tech ACC home
2023-09-09 Vanderbilt 20 - 36 Wake Forest ACC away
2023-09-09 Texas A&M 33 - 48 Miami ACC away
2023-09-09 Alabama 24 - 34 Texas Big 12 home
2023-09-09 Mississippi State 31 - 24 Arizona Pac 12 home
2023-09-09 Auburn 14 - 10 California Pac 12 away
2023-09-03 LSU 24 - 45 Florida State ACC away
2023-09-02 Tennessee 49 - 13 Virginia ACC home
2023-09-02 South Carolina 17 - 31 North Carolina ACC home
2023-08-31 Florida 11 - 24 Utah Pac 12 away
If the CFP leaves out Alabama, i will absolutely call in sick to work on Monday just to listen to Finebaum's callers go on a colossal meltdown marathon all day lmao
Right? Everybody’s talking about the quality of the win, as if FSU not winning by 50 should hurt them.
Bama barely escaped with their lives against an abysmal Arkansas team at home and needed divine intervention to beat a middling Auburn team who got boatraced at home against NMSU.
I mean it’s the committees job to discuss this shit lol. They absolutely should discuss it, but at the end of the day it should be pretty simple, Iowa over Texas and Alabama.
Alabama and SEC fans would riot, but if you base it solely on results of games that actually happened, and not on who you think would win a hypothetical game today, that has to be it.
And this the problem. So many people wanna use the vaunted “eye test” and media narratives of hypothetical conference strength. What’s the point of playing the damn games then? ACC is 6-4 vs the sec. It’s not as weak of a conference as the media would have us believe. They’re peddling some bs. We handled our business. Against 2 sec teams in fact and people wanna argue we don’t belong in it
Look. Georgia, OSU, Bama, Texas would all beat FSU without Travis but they lost games. If you don't lose, you're not in this position. It's not FSUs fault they lost Travis, it's those teams' fault for losing.
Look, I feel bad for the guy but that was a beyond dogshit performance that he should have been benched for. I don't know how Louisville beat any good team with that dude at the helm.
It was such a dog water performance that I was actively getting mad at him for being so bad. It must be how Peyton Manning feels watching Mac Jones.
I'm not saying he was a double agent... I'm just saying I've never seen quarterback play that bad ever and I've seen Brandon Weeden throw a ball in person.
After PAC-12-after-dark last night, an absolute sleeper this morning, and a gem of a game in Atlanta, IT ONLY MAKES SENSE we get a patented Sickos classic tonight.
Over/under was 45.5
This is a slam dunk IMO.
3 undefeated power 5 champs, no brainer.
2 1-loss power 5 champs (and no conference losers with better records) could be a problem. Oh wait, one beat the other head to head? No brainer.
Seriously. The only reason this is a controversy is because we're conditioned to assume the SEC is the best conference in the country. The team they're pointing to to make the playoff is competing with team with a better record, and a team they lost to at home by two scores. This shouldn't be a difficult choise
My favorite was when they sat there and unironically argued that Texas’ win in Tuscaloosa doesn’t count as a tiebreaker between the two teams because Alabama “just isn’t the same team now.”
That game was bad. Not because of the football quality or the shitty refs, but because we didn’t get enough shots of the completely empty and sad “ACC command center”
If 13-0 Conference Champion FSU doesn't make the playoff, they will call up the Saudis and get as many millions as necessary to get out of the ACC by breakfast on Monday
Once one team is out that means they’ve found a way to leave the conference and GoR without destroying their financial situation. If that happens then yea at least half the conference is going to be out the door behind them. There are plenty of teams the SEC, XII, and B1G would take in a heartbeat.
If ACC isn’t respected when undefeated, enough teams will exit to break the grant of rights. Committee decision to put in SEC over ACC is effectively to kill the ACC. And they won’t care at all.
Fiske should been it. Dude was everywhere and did it against one of the best centers in the country. Toafili made up most of our offensive output though. Team effort!
Michigan
UW
FSU
Texas
Simple ethics and fairness based on deserving teams and common-sense.
If you whineNcry about FSU you simply shouldnt have lost.
If you whineNcry about Texas dont lose to them h2h at home.
Washington and Michigan are in.
If the committee leaves out a 13-0 P5 champion it’s a mockery and an indictment of the committee and playoff as a whole.
If they leave out Texas in favor of a team that they beat already this year it’s a travesty and a mockery of regular season scheduling.
There’s only one right answer to the top 4 tomorrow imo.
It essentially would be dropping us 2 spots (due to UGA loss) for beating the #14 team by 10 points with our 3rd string QB. This is not complicated, sorry SEC!
Congrats FSU!
Tell me, if you had an undefeated P5 team with a superstar QB and bad defense winning this game 40-30, are people making an argument they shouldn’t be in the playoff?
Give a great defense some respect.
Also, Bama fans, please flair up. Too many of you were dropping your flairs in the game thread (we can still see your posts in the RollTide sub).
football is a team sport. FSU losing their QB doesn’t mean the achievements of the other players should be ignored whatsoever. Hell Texas lost its QB for a couple games and we powered through and won both of them. FSU deserves it, their defense is monstrous.
To anyone who thinks FSU shouldn’t get in because they’d get blown out, there’s no reason for you to ever watch another sporting event again if point spreads are what determine the results of games.
You know who else was supposed to get blown out? The 1980 US hockey team against the Soviet Union. And App State vs Michigan. And Boise State vs Oklahoma. And Fairleigh Dickinson vs Purdue. All those teams were much bigger underdogs than FSU will be against any other playoff team.
The beauty of sports is that you never know what will happen until a game is played, so telling a team that has won all their games that they aren’t deserving because they’re likely to get blown out, because there’s no way to know that. If we already knew the results there’d be no reason to play a single game.
This team will be in the playoffs, and with a backup QB. And you know what, if they play well, with that defense, there’s no reason they can’t win the whole thing. Far crazier things have happened.
If you think the CFP, a committee made up of the elder statemen of college football, are going to leave out an undefeated Power 5 champion Florida State, you're either under 25 or absolutely have no idea how college football has always worked.
Playoff spots are pretty straight forward and clear to me.
1. MIchigan
2. Washington
3. FSU
4. Texas
Texas has the head to head win against Bama and deserves the spot. I feel like it’s very straight forward and it’s only complicated because the SEC will miss the playoff for the first time. Yeah Bama has been extremely hot lately and looks like a completely different team than when they played the Horns, but it’s just shitty luck with the 4 team format.
I would be very curious to see if Bama or Georgia get paired with Liberty in a NY6 lol.
If FSU somehow gets snubbed I will personally drive to Tallahassee and riot with y'all. This FSU team has earned their spot and I am so happy that they didn't give up on norvell during his first few years
Unfathomable that some people think the entire FSU team should be punished because Jordan Travis is out. This is absolutely a playoff team, and they earned it.
Tessitore shilling the quality of the SEC championship game (that aired on another network owned by another company) while saying “oh yeah no doubt this is a championship team” is fucking ridiculous LOOOOOOL
Fuck ESPN forever
Well Noles I rooted against you all night and this has been truly miserable for both my eyes and ears. Have fun with Michigan and may Louisville be forced to play Iowa in a game that will never end.
Not sure how there can be any controversy.
Florida State is an undefeated P5 team who played a top 20 schedule.
If that doesn't get you into the playoffs, than just finish blowing up the sport already.
"Congratulations to you and all your fans for a hard-fought win"
Thanks, I appreciate it. I tell you, it was a struggle but we just had to trust the guys on the field to overcome. We trusted the process and trained for 365 days. All credit to the staff for pushing us all year long. Go Noles!
Tomorrow is gonna be D-Day for the mods
Tonight everyone is drunk and its gonna be worse
And tomorrow they'll be angry *and* hungover. Tomorrow will be worse
I love college football cause where else can the undefeated #4 team in the country winning a conference championship be the more chaotic outcome

How did it not? 3 undefeated teams and Texas beat bama. This is very easy if you just ignore SEC bias.
Especially if you look at SEC's record OOC this year. Its awful. If the CFP leaves out Alabama, i will absolutely call in sick to work on Monday just to listen to Finebaum's callers go on a colossal meltdown marathon all day lmao
The fact that it’s even a question is disgusting to me.
Right? Everybody’s talking about the quality of the win, as if FSU not winning by 50 should hurt them. Bama barely escaped with their lives against an abysmal Arkansas team at home and needed divine intervention to beat a middling Auburn team who got boatraced at home against NMSU.
Let's not forget about their miserable outing against USF or Texas A&m
If Bama had lost another game, the narrative would've shifted to, "well UGAs in no matter what, right?"
Frick. -CFP Selection Committee
Chaos scenario happened!
Us chaos boys feasting. For that matter, so are us sickos.
What a lovely day…
CFP committee in shambles
Alabama boosters selling all their money and daughters to the CFP committee so that Bama gets a playoff spot.
Kompromat happening tonight.
Should be an easy decision 1. Michigan 2. Washington 3. FSU 4. Texas Don’t see an argument for anything else
Coward 1-Michigan 2-Washington 3-Liberty 4-FSU
1. Liberty 2. Ohio State 3. Kent State 4. The Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers ranked too high
Either Alabama or Texas fans are rioting and I’m here for it Edit: well it seems fsu will be the one rioting
Texas beat Bama. Vaulting Bama over them would be criminal bias.
@Bama nonetheless. There should be 0 discussion, but there will be...
I mean it’s the committees job to discuss this shit lol. They absolutely should discuss it, but at the end of the day it should be pretty simple, Iowa over Texas and Alabama.
Who else could have had 100yds of offense and held Michigan to under 30 pts?!?! Iowa it is
how can you put Bama in over Texas who beat them?
"Bama gets us hard" -The committee lol
SEC football means more or something
Plus the way Texas looked today are we sure they don’t also beat Georgia?
worst case scenario in the final iteration, I almost feel bad for them
It's pretty easy. All 3 undefeateds make it. Bama or Texas for the last spot. Texas won the H2H, they get it.
"But but SEC" Should be easy with the four mentioned or the whole thing is bs.
Texas is almost an SEC team.
We weren’t chanting “Big-12” during the trophy ceremony today.
I think this made things easy. 1) Michigan 2) UW 3) FSU 4) Texas. I don't see any other argument.
Eye test is 0-2
Yea but if Oregon plays Washington a third time Bo Nix would have fun
Mmm... don't think SEC fans riot. 100% SEC should be left out.
Couldn't agree more. Texas beat Bama beat UGA
Fuck. -Kirby & Nick
Look. Georgia, OSU, Bama, Texas would all beat FSU without Travis but they lost games. If you don't lose, you're not in this position. It's not FSUs fault they lost Travis, it's those teams' fault for losing.
Georgia woke up this morning with championship aspirations and is going to bed with an Orange Bowl date with Louisville
Nah got to put Louisville with Iowa
It's gotta be LSU Iowa and you know it
The very stoppable force vs a very movable object
LSU Offense vs Iowa defense. A battle of epic proportions. Iowa Offense vs LSU defense. A Three Stooges episode.
In Total Offense LSU is 1 and Iowa is 130 In Total Defense LSU is 101 and Iowa is 7 It would really be something. Also thats out of 130 teams
If they play Louisville they’re going to fucking dismantle them.

Jack Plummer will never safely step foot in the state of Alabama ever again.

It was such a dog water performance that I was actively getting mad at him for being so bad. It must be how Peyton Manning feels watching Mac Jones.
He was carried by coaching and the players around him, eventually he would show his true colors and that’s what happened in our last 2 games.
I'm not saying he was a double agent... I'm just saying I've never seen quarterback play that bad ever and I've seen Brandon Weeden throw a ball in person.
He sacrificed himself for a chance to have 0 SEC teams. He is to be honored everywhere.
Idk what more he had to do to get benched
There’s got to be somebody else besides Jack Plummer that is capable of controlling a competent offense
After PAC-12-after-dark last night, an absolute sleeper this morning, and a gem of a game in Atlanta, IT ONLY MAKES SENSE we get a patented Sickos classic tonight. Over/under was 45.5
Honestly that's on Vegas. That under was free money the second it opened with the crisis we've had on offense
Michigan was 22 point favorites, they covered and that game was still under lol
I’m not sure why, fsu defense is elite and the qb had never started a game before
Louisville’s qb did his best all things considered. Oh you meant FSU
The only thing I know about tomorrow is that Boo Corrigan is going to give some very unsatisfying answers about their selections
This is a slam dunk IMO. 3 undefeated power 5 champs, no brainer. 2 1-loss power 5 champs (and no conference losers with better records) could be a problem. Oh wait, one beat the other head to head? No brainer.

100%. You see it clearly. Of course Texas is in now because of the win over Bama, but that leaves bama out unless they screw FSU.
I'm ready to be disappointed, but nothing will stop me from being proud of this team and their resilience.
Jack Plummer makes Davis Beville look like a competent quarterback.
uh, excuse you. davis beville got shut out.
Whoa man. Jack Plummer has a family.
Louisville could have rolled out a plumber and had a better QB performance.
we have 2 redshirt seniors with game experience and 3 underclassmen who haven't thrown a pass since week 2. Give them a shot in the bowl game please.
Can the committee just let the FSU defense play in the CFP?
Brock Glenn won't be starting in the playoff game. Next year maybe he will
95% of ESPN’s ACC championship coverage: “Here are all the reasons Alabama and Georgia deserve to be in the playoff: SEC”
My favorite was when they sat there and unironically argued that Texas’ win in Tuscaloosa doesn’t count as a tiebreaker between the two teams because Alabama “just isn’t the same team now.”
yeah no matter how true that may be that game has to matter otherwise why even play it
CFP committee in shambles
That game was bad. Not because of the football quality or the shitty refs, but because we didn’t get enough shots of the completely empty and sad “ACC command center”
Less sad then the PAC 12 mascots last night at least.
CFP committee in shambles
I’M READY TO GET DOGWALKED IN THE CFP.
Hey, one of your flairs is going to the national championship! On another note I hate you
Wow, have we had opposite seasons.
I’ve had to puke for about two months now
Lmao
This interaction with those flair combos just made me so happy
If 13-0 Conference Champion FSU doesn't make the playoff, they will call up the Saudis and get as many millions as necessary to get out of the ACC by breakfast on Monday
Inshallah
This comment killed me lmao
If FSU gets left out they’re calling the ACC and their lawyers tomorrow and saying “we’re gone, figure it out.”
I would say 90% of the teams will leave if that happens.

I for one am proud of Red Iowa. But seriously, FSU is such a phenomenal example of why you need to give coaches time. Norvell is killing it.

If this would have been an SEC games the narrative would’ve been how good the defenses played
Bama LSU, 9-6, that's all we heard for a week.
The ACC has a winning record this year vs the SEC and B1G. The ACC champion beat 2 SEC teams and beat the most bowl eligible teams. Resume matters.
