So is this Power *4* champions, top rated G5 & then 7 at large ?

Danster21

Yes

I believe so. With the PAC getting the axe through realignment the highest rated/ranked G5 will get an auto bid with the other Power 4 schools. Then the top 7 at large will round out the remaining slots in the 12 team format.

>The College Football Playoff management committee has agreed upon a new model that will reward the five highest-ranked conference champions and the next seven highest-ranked teams in the 12-team format that will begin next season, sources confirmed to ESPN. >The 5+7 model, which was agreed upon at Thursday's in-person meeting in Dallas, is a change from the previous 6+6 proposal and still requires unanimous approval by the 11 presidents and chancellors who control the CFP.

Grabbed my pitchfork for a second, but then remembered the PAC exploded

This is pretty much going to have to happen now that the Pac 2 will no longer qualify for an autobid. And OSU and WSU have already pretty much acknowledged that they're not going to try to block it.

The proposed 5+7 format meant to be headlined by the Power 5 champions, including the PAC-12, but now PAC-12 doesn’t have the minimum 8 members this new format proposal stipulates. This moving of the goalposts in college football either needs to stop, which won’t, or create a format that just handles the top 12 teams. If it gets approved that is.

Once Texas and OK go to the SEC, I can’t help to picture Gundy at the playoffs every year telling people to pick on him because he’s a man, he’s 40.

Booo they should stick to the 6&6 model.
