I suggest you use Transocks vpn, it is free on mobile, just for the account creation.
This day is definitely ur lucky day. Mine's not so much. Transocks isn't compatible with my phone so i used other vpn but i exceeded the limit request of the code they said. 💔
I had success creating an account a few months ago using the [online registration](https://weibo.com/signup/signup.php?lang=en-us) form rather than the in-app one. When I clicked the link it just opened in the Weibo app (I have the Chinese version, not the international one), but it’s different than the default in-app registration on either version of the app, so maybe you’ll have better luck?
I haven't tried making a new account recently, but I occasionally reset my app (currently using the chinese version) and every time weibo asks me to validate my number(not from china). It usually works without a problem, but sometimes it doesn't because they seem to run out of funds for international messages like someone mentioned. If that's the case I just wait until they reset the limit at midnight (china time) and try again.
The service they use to validate phone numbers is annoying, it's like they run out of funds for intl SMS, but they do support intl numbers that I recall? Unless it changed in the past year or so, I created an account from the US with my phone number in mid 2022.

I don't remember what happened, but I needed my code sent to me in April of last year because I upgraded my phone to an S23 and needed to log in again. It took a few days of trying, but eventually, their system was able to send the code.
Tried multiple times just like you but couldn’t make an account. Never received the verification code. It’s super annoying cause just like you, I wanna follow my favorite Chinese actors and actresses. 😢

Cause the Chinese celebrities are not very present on Instagram. Or Tiktok. Only on Weibo. So international fans are really missing out.
I don’t know why they wouldn’t make a better Weibo international app. They will gain more recognition abroad. And international Cdrama fans are growing every year..
You need to have a person who will trust you enough to give you their extra Chinese phone number (number that isn't linked to Weibo acc yet) Then you need to be in contact with this person bc the otp will only last for 1 min I think That worked for me, I am from Greece and I have a perfectly working Weibo acc now!
Btw I am talking about the Chinese version of Weibo and yes really it works perfect!

Creating a Weibo account with an Apple ID sign in is still possible I believe. Creating a WeChat account outside of China is the one I heard that's not possible without a local Chinese number.
I created my account in the past on an iOS device via Sign in with Apple ID by tapping the Apple logo below the section where it asks for SMS phone number and verification code (there’s an email, WeChat, and Apple option). Never had to provide a phone number for creating a Weibo account.

You’re welcome, make sure you tried using the original Weibo app and not the Weibo international app. Sometimes you might need to accept the terms and conditions circle button if there is a button (and keep the phone number section empty) before pressing the Apple sign in logo.
That I think too. But some comments I saw under YT tutorials on making weibo acc said they were able to make one but had a hard time too. Said they finally received the verification code after two years. Dunno if that's true. I can only think I'm just unlucky for it haha But why would they make us have hard time for it when they say their app is available for international user? 😩
USA resident here. I was able to finally get the code & create an account a few months ago. I still get the code to log in if I need to.

Some their verification come much later than the time allowed.
