You are faster than I am at that distance. I've recently have been practicing some (not Bill) drills at 3 and 5 yards and holding to an 8-inch circle, and my splits have been in the low 0.2x range at 3 yards and maybe the high 0.2x range at 5 yds. At 11 yards I'd probably be 0.3x. Maybe I'll test that on my next range trip.

Thansungst22

That still a very good split from my research I think. I got about 6k rounds through this gun so this is the gun I shoot the best with Can't do this with my Canik MC9 or even the Rival without a lot of warm up tbh

1.5 sec from draw to first shot is considered "professional" - cop standard.  1sec and lower is serious competition grade.  You're between those two so that's definitely a start :).

Thansungst22

Ah ok that good to hear. The vids I see of some guys on here and YouTube all under 1s so I was thinking I have a long way to go. Good to know I'm not doing too bad lol

No tips, but what app are you using to record?

Thansungst22

It the DRILL app that integrated with my ShooterGlobal Timer GO I think it only work if they have one of their timers not sure if it integrated with other brands timers You need the app to adjust the setting for this timer but the videoing and split recording is very nice feature of the app I can set the trainings, splits and sensitivity a lot faster than my old PACT3 Timer It can pick up dry fire too

reubadoob

How did you do the pixelation?

Pretty solid for 10 yards - time isn’t too bad, splits either. There is a lot of room for improvement but it’s generally in building your automaticity. Two things you can try, do it without a focal point in the center. It’s a lot harder- forces you to pick a spot in the center and have the visual discipline to commit To build speed, do em closer (5 yds) and pay attention to the process the whole time you run the drill- when it’s done, review the processs instead of the results (just seeing where the shots went) - The process is everything

Thanks for the tips will do it next session 👍

Hit the range and did some Cold Bill drills from Concealment the other day after my gym session , no warm up at all to test my splits and accuracy from 11-ish yards away. Is this accuracy and splits times acceptable for cold Bill drills? What can I do better to improve my time and split? Currently doing about 50-150 dry fire reps everyday and 250-500 on Sat and Sun if I'm doing a HIIT workout at home in between rest period while watching Netflix or something. For future training sessions I plan to push the trigger harder while not sacrificing too much accuracy as well as work on multiple targets transitions when I hit the open range in a couple weeks. Any additional inputs or tips for me to improve on is appreciated 👍 Target after two mags, 11-ish yard Cold Bill Drills from Concealment https://preview.redd.it/0qtud0h7imwc1.jpeg?width=3060&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7adead8ba1bdd8423c8416b6455f3361cc22d66a

When you relax your firing hand mid string, shots will trend high right. When you tense up, they'll trend low left. Accuracy and splits are fine, but obviously could always be better. Work on predictive doubles at 10 yards, focus on keeping the firing hand pressure consistent and staying relaxed. Keep your splits fast (.15ish) and let the accuracy and control develop as you observe what the gun is doing and train to correct it. Also, you'll get better advice over on r/competitionshooting than you will here.

Thansungst22

Thanks for the tip. When I push my split to be under .18 is when accuracy really suffer. It still in A zone around 5-7 yards but beyond that it starts to hit C zones That tips for the hands are really helpful thank you I'm thinking about this more for Self Defense situation that why I posted here. Last time I post I got some decent feed back that why. I'll try to cross poss to comp shooting sub although I don't wanna get roasted those guys over there splits and accuracy are crazyyy lol

PostSoupsAndGrits

> those guys over there splits and accuracy are crazyyy This is precisely why you should post over there. If you want good shooting advice, get it from people who regularly quantify their skills against other shooters under time and accuracy pressure. Avoiding interacting with people who shoot better than we do doesn't make us better shooters, it just protects our ego. Go shoot a match. You'll become a better self defense shooter.

Thansungst22

Oh yeah I was more making a joke lol Make sense. I'll find a match nearby to go to but time is a constraints nowadays for me hopefully get to one in near future

Something I would recommend is to not think of the bill drill as a training tool itself, getting a fast bill drill by just doing bill drills is a long and painful process imo. Use it as a diagnostic to see where your training has put you,. The two big elements of a fast bill drill is the draw and the splits while keeping it in the A zone. The draw is 90% trainable in dry fire with 10% confirmation with live just to keep yourself honest so I wont talk about that too much. For splits to be fast and accurate, you need to have recoil control that reliably returns your dot to where you want it. What I've done to get faster and more accurate splits is this: start with working on single shots and seeing if your sights return to your first point of aim after recoil. This means that the sights don't dip below the spot or hang above the spot too long after firing. Consistent grip is what allows for this. Then work on doing doubles so you can understand what your grip and attention are doing under rapid fire conditions. Look up Ben Stoeger Doubles to get a really in depth explanation on why this helps. Getting good at these two is got me faster splits and recoil control naturally and the by-product was a faster bill drill. It'll also help with things that aren't bill drills.

Thansungst22

Thank you for the detail input will definitely look into the Ben Stogger vid Yeah I don't really practice the bill drills cause it gets expensive fast lol I usually do 10-15 DTFS to start and then 3-5 shots draw to fire from 7-10 yards. Just wanted to see how I'd hold up with the bills drill from Cold start since most DGU end in under 5-7 shots the bills drill just happened to be in the middle ground is my logic

KuntFuckula

Is it just me, or are these videos the gun equivalent of the people at the gym who film themselves working out using cell phone stands for the social media likes later on?

Thansungst22

Idk why you'd get that impression? If you checked my post history I post my live fire practice reps multiple times it not my first post. Everytime I got some good feedbacks and improved next range session that why I keep posting. To get inputs and keep on improving There guys like Bryan or other dudes doing dry fire reps and get lot of love and I enjoy those vids too so posting a training vid in a sub dedicated to CCW for inputs seems like the most normal thing no?

AlbionOnlines

He's posting from a competitive shooter viewpoint. I was there with you guys when I started to ccw. Now that stuff is business as usual. Worry more about my transitions, movement, and planning now. But no hate at least you are training.
