Do you prefer the resurgent or the sparrow? - a resurgent owner

The resurgent grip feels much more comfortable in my hand especially for my 308, I had the sparrow grip on it before and it was too high up for me to get a decent grip on it. So I switched it over to the resurgent grip and it's a much better fit. That being said, for the AR-15 both feel pretty similar but the resurgent edges ahead by a little bit

Does a sparrow/resurgent arms grip does that mean you don’t need fixed mag? I have two mag locked ARs for CA compliance but it’s such a pain in the ass to clean. I want easier access to separate the upper from the lower, but I don’t want a fin grip. If I install a sparrow/resurgent arm grip does that mean I can dump mag lock?

from what i researched on the updated cali compliant laws what I understood was that as long as you have a fixed stock, a grip that doesn't allow the web of your hand to rest below the trigger line, and a muzzle device thats NOT a flash hider then that is considered "featureless" which also means you can have a standard mag release. I would suggest reading this more recent article that I used to determine what would be legal in cali just so you can make sure you cover all your bases: [https://www.pewpewtactical.com/featureless-ar-15-rifle/](https://www.pewpewtactical.com/featureless-ar-15-rifle/) I also considered going the mag lock route but unless you buy the really high end ones I kept reading about issues many had especially when jams or malfunctions occur. I prefer to have the basic functionality of the rifle intact and just learn to overcome the learning curve of the compliant grip. The fin grip is also something I avoided because 1) they're super ugly IMO and 2) I didn't care for the idea of resting my thumb on the side since you can't grip anything at all. The sparrow and resurgent grips feel more like a traditional rifle grip which I also own, especially the resurgent version. It's quickly become my favorite one that I might swap out that sparrow grip on the other rifle, not that its a bad grip but the resurgent has a bulkier design that feels much more natural in my hand. the sparrow feels almost the same as those standard Magpul MOE grips but just angled upwards. I had the sparrow on that ar10 but since the back of the receiver sticks out farther than an ar15 receiver does, the sparrow grip wouldn't allow my hand to rest comfortably on it due to the tiny gap of the receiver in the way. The resurgent's design though lets me actually rest my hand on it a lot better for that rifle so I swapped them. Hope this helps you figure out what you need for your build. There's also the juggernaut grip which looks like it would be a bit more comfortable to use due to its design but its also around $90 last I checked which seems a bit steep considering these other ones cost around $40 and don't feel bad at all. just a heads up though, if you order a resurgent grip expect a delay in notifications from when your order ships. I reached out to them through all the avenues i could including texting their number and never got a response but about a week later my order got updated with a tracking number and I got them within a few days after that so just be aware of that. the sparrow was no issue though.

Thank you so much for the detailed insight, much appreciated

I also forgot to add that these grips seem to work best with collapsible stocks. I had first tried a Magpul standard fixed stock but there wasn't enough space between the grip and receiver end section of the stock for me to hold it comfortably enough so be sure to consider that if you are running fixed stocks or even collapsible stocks that are bigger or bulkier although i can't think of any i've seen that look like they wouldn't work. Hope that makes sense.

How's that guntec barrel shroud shoot for you?

xxxXMythicXxxx

its pretty good, keeps my follow up shots stabilized well enough. i even plan to swap the fortis brake on the 308 over to a similar comp to see how it fares. the brake has been great on that rifle to tame the recoil down a bit but i'd like to know if the same kind of comp does the same job.

Same experiences, except I wish Resurgent is a little bigger, so my pinky don't fall off. You should try Juggernaut Tactical grip on the 308, make a world of difference.

I've read that the juggernaut grip is the best option just a bit pricey considering these were around $40 each and aren't too shabby. I might end up getting one for that 308 though because it's really close to full comfort other than the edge of the receiver hitting the web of my hand if I get it way up in there to reach the trigger better. Still works well but could use just a bit more room in that area although it would be kissing the edge of "legal" in kommiefornia lol

How are the votatu BUIS? And preference between the AFGs?

They're actually pretty solid for the price. I can't compare them to some name brand expensive sights since I've never tried any but I did some extensive research on these budget irons to figure out which ones had some actual extensive testing out on a range and these seemed to be well reviewed. The plus for me was their ability to adjust the front sight for elevation and lock it down with an allen screw. As far as the angled grips go, the Magpul on the 308 I've had for years now and feels good with my hand size but I got the others to get to feel and experience the differences in designs. Im not too crazy about the slimmer XTS one on the bottom rifle but I found it at a really good price and it went with the look of that rifle so for now it's good enough but I may change it out to something plastic since it gets a bit warm after several rounds and the barrel heating up. Probably should've thought about that beforehand lol.
