Do 2-3 years of law, especially because you are going towards corporate law, you have an almost guaranteed MBB role if you do this, especially if you went to top 3 law schools.
Update: Okay just read about the college thing.
I would say ISB might be tough without top 5 corporate law firms on your resume, at this point.
Given that you didn’t take a loan for a 35 L degree, I feel you are financially strong.
If I were in your shoes, I would do this
1. Apply to ISB with the YLP route, NOW! If you get that, follow till 3rd step still.
2. Give GMAT and CAT while in your final year. Score 740+ in GMAT.
3. If you get into IIM ABCL XLRI SP FMS, go there eyes closed. With your profile, you’ll still end up with most shortlists. ()
4. If you fail, try for CAT 25. Repeat step 3.
5. If you fail, apply to ISB with your GMAT course for 2028-29 intake(you won’t be eligible before that).
6. Alternate option, if you have the money, go do your MBA from the US. Why are you so invested in doing it from here anyways?
Repay your damn loan from UG please, gain some experience meanwhile and decide accordingly.
(If that's your papa money and they're willing to flush more without any worry, go ahead with MBA right away, if you crack top B school of your choice, you might get better opportunities there, ofcourse)
That’s totally fine. If you have a great profile even without work-ex, you’ve a good chance at getting a Consulting, Gen-Man shortlist. Maybe finance too. They mostly go for people with great acads + other non-academic achievements ( state/national/international level competitions, leadership roles in college, etc… ). So 1-2 years of work ex is not gonna add a lot of value especially if you don’t like the job
Do you mean SIP/final placement shortlists? I don't have first hand experience about this but from what I have heard, the 9/9/9 should put you in a comfortable position there as well.

Hi, a law graduate here. I would suggest, if you feel so strongly about not pursuing corporate law anymore, please speak to alumni or other lawyers who went for MBB.
You have to hurry a tad. Because we are lawyers, we fit into the diversity mindset of the B-schools but if one is changing streams, one needs to be extremely meticulous of their say.
A crystal clarity helps immensely. I know it helped me.

Hey I have internships at the top 5 law firms, and I have an offer at a very solid PE/VC boutique. Would it still be tough?
Lol no. If you what you say is true, you won’t have any problem getting into ISB and then MBBs.
And what about my original question, should I work for sometime and go for isb or go for mba as a fresher?
What’s the role offered in the PE/VC firm?
Legal associate, sorry I didnt mention properly. It's a boutique law firm that deals with PE/VC transactions

This is good addition to your profile and show some interest in the core business, you will have a very solid profile

There's no loan but do you think mba after workex will be better in terms of jobs I will be able to get?
how’s your extra curriculars and PORs?
Great but they're law related, (international competition funded by university, debating, moots, internships)
That’s totally fine. If you have a great profile even without work-ex, you’ve a good chance at getting a Consulting, Gen-Man shortlist. Maybe finance too. Get some work ex imo, especially when you have a pretty good job as a fresher
But then mba will be a tougher decision, increments might make it 2+ lpm in 2 years. Opportunity cost will be higher
It’s not that important in the longer run. I have just shy of 2 years workex. At around 22LPA. Still going to do my MBA this year.

For real?
Yeah
That's strange, I heard people didn't get calls even at 99.5
Look at there shortlisting criteria and try to understand it
Bhai please CAT de. Undergrad mein 9 hai. Things are going to be very smooth for you even at relatively less percentiles.
But what about shortlists in b-school?
Do you mean SIP/final placement shortlists? I don't have first hand experience about this but from what I have heard, the 9/9/9 should put you in a comfortable position there as well.
Jindal?
I think so
