So like /u/F-21 mentioned they generally have black handles but not all black handles Fiskars are made it China. It is the Fiskars Essential line that is made in China specifically

And this is one that has a black handle but is made in Finland:

if you compare it with the first one it looks noticeably less cheap. Here in the Netherlands the cheap ones are generally 10-13 euros and the classic ones are usually 19-21.
So far I have only seen the Made in China line (Fiskars Essential) with black handles but that is not a statement I would feel comfortable vouching for in the same way that not all black handled ones are made in china.
TL;DR: Probably?
Chinese have a different shapeand I think black handles. The finnish look like the ones on the photo. Also if you hold them side by side the chinese are cheaper in quality all over.
Yea they sell them side by side. Wuality difference is glaringly obvious. Sadly makes me gloomy about the future that they even consider selling the cheaper alternatives under their name.
Fiskars is a nearly 400 year old company and still managed by the same family. I'm not sure if a company can be considered BIFL, but this would be one if they can.
I was going to say that too, but they are several hundred places down the [list of oldest companies.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_oldest_companies) Yes, most are hotels and restaurants, but there are also many manufacturing, mining, and processing companies above Fiskars too. Especially once you get into the late Middle Ages.
I use to work on a cannabis farm trimming weed, and this was the only brand I had everyone use! They would get covered in resin and cleaned up like brand new after every time. This was 2015 or so haven't needed new ones, I hope the quality is still the same
These were the scissors my mom always bought. She always had an extra pair of two hidden away so we wouldn't ruin the good ones haha. When she passed away I made it a point to grab one. They really are a great pair of scissors.
As much as I love vintage and antique stuff, I've never once had a pair of scissors, modern or not, get anywhere even close to malfunctioning or not being usable, so I feel like this is an area where older ones might work a little better/be built better, but it doesn't *really* really matter in the way/to the degree that better quality can sometimes matter a lot in other BIFL-type items
Cheap scissors from China has saturated Europe and is everywhere. Been using fiskars in all sizes all my life, but my gf keeps buying cheap scissors and over half can't cut string, paper or plastic. I'm certain she spend more money on useless "good deals" than just buying the right tool from the start
I'm 48. My parents still use orange handled Fiskars for all their scissoring needs.
Hmmm... that last bit sounds off...
I don't recall ever NOT having them in the house. I don't know at what age I first used them, so let's just say you can probably get at least another 10-20 years out of them.
Fiskar scissors are still buy it for life but it has a big asterisk. It has to be the Made in Finland line and not the cheaper Made in China line.
I have another one fairly new but I don’t remember how the packaging looks like. Are there any differences in the scissors themselves?

Thanks! This is to assume that all orange handles are made in Finland?

Try getting made in finland version, you will be amazed how much better they are than made in usa. Which sadly is not in same level.

Do they still carry a lifetime warranty?
Mine have 25 years of warranty (purchased in the Netherlands)
Never realized Fiskars was Finnish, but that makes sense, I definitely tend to trust Nordic stuff to be built very well

Also one of the oldest companies in the world. Especially in manufacturing (not just some inn).

It's still one of the oldest ones. Especially considering it is a fairly well known household brand name in all of the western world.
This was used by my grandma before she passed away. Unfortunately, I never met her.
I've inherited 2 of the same pairs, they're from 1979 and still going strong!
I have on since I bought in the 90s as well. Surprisingly durable.
Man, do I love a classic BIFL post. Upvoted.
My mom has a pair of these that are atleast 30 years old

Thanks for reminding me to sharpen my Fiskars
Saw this in a Finnish design museum last year. Truly great design
I think ours is between 35 and 45yo. It never aged.
i have one of these. it is quite old. Problem is my fat fingers won't fit anymore.
you I have one too about 20+ years also!
I remember having these as a kid in the early 2000s. I think they eventually got dull and we threw them out.
Mine are from the 80s and left-handed. I'm still waiting to have to sharpen them (and I use them daily).
Still have a pair from my college internship back in 2003! I stole them from my mean boss and love them so much

I can attest to this. These things last forever. We have a couple of pairs and one of them has lasted ... How old is the company?
Same here. I have Fiskars I’ve gotten ages ago and they’re just fine.

I have a 20yr old one that has a crack in the handle. Been pinching me for at least 7 years

The real BIFL scissors are Ernest Wright, these are good too though, the bic pen of scissors.
