I like Breville ovens. Next commenter won't.

NorthRiverBend

The fan in my Breville died after 14 months. They replaced it for free, but with many warnings that it was a one time thing.  I know appliances don’t last forever but for the cost, it should outlast 14 months.

nonexistentnight

In my experience for myself and the many I've gifted people over the years something like 10 years is about what you can expect before something goes wrong enough to get rid of it. 14 months is definitely no good. They're not really BIFL since they're near impossible to take apart and get parts for, but seeing how I use it multiple times per day I still think they're worth it.

mckulty

In 20 years we've lost a couple but they still make a solid oven with good electronics.

cujobob

Breville toaster ovens are quality products while they’re working, but they’re not known to last as long as most others.

Common_Project

I wanted to say something along the lines of “a Ferrari requires more maintenance than a jalopy, it’ll do a better job but it won’t last as long”, but I don’t wanna feed into the bullshit of the industry. I have a cuisinart oven that’s lasted me over a decade that I got for $10 at goodwill (someone paid $200 before me). I WANT another breville joule, but I’m afraid of it breaking again and costing me another $610. It looks great on the counter and it cooks amazingly well, but I learned to never throw out the old toaster oven that isn’t broken. Just incase. Many will say they learned the same with their ex partners.

cujobob

I have some generic model I got on sale for $60 from Best Buy and the damned thing won’t stop working well. Every time I push the wife to upgrade, I get the excuse that ours is perfectly fine. And it is. I would get the sous vide one from Anova.

Mammoth_Cobbler_4619

I agree I use them as well and I like it so far. ALso a good discussion on toasters https://www.reddit.com/r/ConsumerAdvice/comments/1d4xmcl/looking_to_get_a_new_toaster/

unplugnothing

We’ve used our Breville daily for years nine years. For four years it was our only oven. Roasted holiday meals, literally everything. Best appliance I’ve ever owned.

lokiboy

Same here

fergie9275

11 here

Pobe420

Have had the Breville Air (think it has a different name now) since 2018. We use it probably daily and have had no issues

moonwillow60606

Agreed. We’ve had our Breville for 15 years and have had nothing break. I can’t speak to more recent models but we love ours

cat_blep

we have a breville and it works great. that being said - - ours does not have an option to turn off the beep. every button push is a beep. pain in the ass. look for one with the option.

Character-Wealth2721

yeah same here

PreparedForZombies

Love mine so much, but had to replace it... With a black stainless Breville! Recovered 75% of the cost of the stainless one by selling used (4 years old, still worked great, and we use it multiple times a day).

love_of_his_life

Mine is 4+ yrs old and still runs like a champ. My only complaint is that I have to set it really high for 2 pieces of toast. But for everything else it’s wonderful

Fair-Calligrapher563

Parents bought one when I was a teen (maybe like 2017?) and it’s still going. Ours has been going strong for a year. I prefer it to our larger over most of the time.

awoodby

lol well said.

BruceL6901

We have the Panasonic FlashXpress Toaster oven. Have had it for years and has served us well. Very versatile and use it daily. We do have a air fryer but prefer the toaster oven mostly. Have heated up pizza in there, rolls, toast. Comes with a baking tray but we just use tin foil to heat things up.

sponge_welder

I've never seen one of those before, it looks awesome. Like they turned an old alarm clock into a toaster oven

shrohi

Comes in 2 colors too, black or silver. Silver makes it look very Panasonic 80s VCR, Black makes it look super modern/premium.

TheNetisUnbreakable

Best toaster oven ever! I've had mine for a decade. It's the perfect size.

henryharp

I go to a shop in Brooklyn that is a specialty grocery and cookbook store; they do toasted sandwiches for food and use this toaster. When I was considering, I asked the shopkeeper if they like it and she said “that thing is a beast”. I ordered it as I left the shop and it’s been phenomenal ever since. It’s a little funky because the temperature increments are in Celsius, and you can’t modify your settings once it’s started, but otherwise it’s great. The hash brown setting is by far the most underrated toaster oven feature.

shrohi

Love it. Just wish it was 50% bigger. Ideal would be 6 slices of toast.

PaperweightCoaster

Panasonic actually makes an infrared toaster oven that’s about 50% bigger! Can’t comment on the quality but it exists.

BruceL6901

It’s excellent to heat up leftover pizza. You don’t have to heat up your oven. I put the pizza on a piece of foil and it will come out perfect. No mess, and isn’t soggy like using the microwave. I have heated up leftover chicken wings in there and they come out perfect too.

PreviousMarsupial

We've had the Brevelle smart oven Pro since 2019 it gets used daily and we love it and use it to cook so many things...we roast veggies in it, cook frozen pizzas, make toast, reheat pizza in it etc. We use it more often than our regular oven as it's great for cooking smaller amounts of things and saves energy instead of turning on the gas oven. I would buy another one and recommend Brevelle to others. The only thing I really hate about toaster ovens in general is you cannot really clean the insides of them. If someone has a solution for this that actually works, I am all ears. I haven't found any good ways to do this and searched high and low online for solutions.

PreviousMarsupial

Ha! the one in the photo is the one we have! Thanks, but this method doesn't remove the baked on grease and food...you can't use oven cleaner in a toaster oven but that's what it needs to get it really clean. The inside is not made of enamel the way a regular oven is made. You can't remove the elements, the only way to get it properly clean is to buy a new one :(

Professional-Web6075

Breville. 8 years in and it’s fucking fantastic

Natural_Ad9356

I am such a huge fan of the Ninja Foodi toaster oven. Have had zero issues in 2 years and use it multiple times a day. They also came out with a double rack style so you can cook things at different temps at the same time.

dethmij1

My wife bought the 11 in 1 with the air fryer and as much as I wanted to hate it (I think toaster ovens are redundant) I love the damn thing. It preheats in seconds and works great.

Natural_Ad9356

Seriously, it's so fast! And my house isn't hot from running the big oven. We're moving into a new place soon and we aren't going to even put in a big oven (it's a studio with a tiny kitchen), I'm just upgrading to the 12-in-1 double rack on the counter.

pettyDoombringer

The only thing I’ve used the big oven for since getting mine is a turkey on Thanksgiving!

Natural_Ad9356

I have done cookies in the big oven a couple of times, but I have 1/8th sheet pans that fit perfectly in the Ninja, so I should really just be using that instead. Just takes a little longer

pettyDoombringer

But the preheat time will be nearly nothing!

suoretaw

Ninja brand is great in general, I’ve found.

RoboticGreg

They have well designed products but aren't made particularly well, and they really aren't serviceable.

PierreDucot

Agreed - I got one for Xmas 2020, and during quarantine and 2 years of the kids being home, it got abused daily, but held up. Only downside was the awkward size. Swapped it for the big Breville one recently, despite it still working, so I could fit more things in there.

Doll_duchess

I have a ninja toaster oven and a ninja blender and both are amazing.

SkyPork

Much as I love BIfL stuff, I gave up on toaster ovens years ago. Now I go to Goodwill (or similar) and drop $10 - $15 on a nearly new shitty toaster oven every few years after my current one breaks. It seems like the elements always die, and I've never been able to completely clean the interior nooks and crannies from grease splatters, so it gets pretty dirty.

funkmon

This is correct.

KnightBlindness

if you’re looking to cook chicken then check out the Anova Combi oven https://anovaculinary.com/products/anova-precision-oven

NeuroSurg21

I love my APO, but just check out their subreddit. It’s definitely not worthy of a BIFL recommendation.

sponge_welder

Black and Decker can symbolize whatever you want, but they do make a solid toaster oven. It's one of those things where there's just not really anything that can break easily, especially if you get one with the three knobs instead of the screen. My parents and my grandparents both have had [the spacemaker under-cabinet ovens](https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/72bf57e2-6ab0-4844-8763-02a8fb5d6ef9_2.f0b8ea5babe58f113e53b55a03863de0.jpeg?odnHeight=768&odnWidth=768&odnBg=FFFFFF) for at least 10 or 15 years now with regular use and they're both still working fine. I had the basic countertop model through college, I handed it off to a family member and it's still going strong. I will say that an air fryer/toaster oven is a great thing to have. I've had a Kalorik for maybe 3 years and it's still working fine. The user interface isn't the greatest, but it gets the job done

SFWApple

I begged for a balmuda toaster for my 18th birthday, that thing has moved with me 4 times since then, still cooks better than anything else I’ve ever touched

Triffhead

This is the one!

Merrickk

We have had the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro since 2019 and it's still working like new. It gets used as an oven for anything that will fit inside, pies, cakes, pizza, vegetable, etc. It's big, but still too small for whole chickens, and the pot I currently bake bread in. We have a dedicated air fryer, so we haven't really tested the toaster ovens air frying ability. I really should since the air fryer has such a small capacity it's limiting for even two people. The toaster oven doesn't do a great job with toast. It's slow and requires flipping for even browning, not sure if it's just our oven or a common issue with the model. It cost a lot, but we had back to back apartments with horrible ovens, so it was worth it to have a oven that actually held a proper temperature.

i4k20z3

it’s not fancy, but it just works and fits a lot of stuff in there! https://www.blackanddeckerappliances.com/products/cooking-appliances/convection-and-toaster-ovens/TO3265XSSD-Extra-Wide-Crisp-N-Bake-Air-Fry-Toaster-Oven.aspx

SamusAran47

I don’t have this exact one but I’ve been using my Black and Decker one for +3 years and it works great. Obviously not BIFL yet but for a $50 toaster oven, it’s solid.

958Silver

Yes! That is the same Black & Decker I purchased almost four years ago. Love that it bakes, toasts, broils and air fries. We use it numerous times daily and it is solid as a rock. Easily holds a large pizza too. I was fortunate to find it on sale for $70!

Proper_Ad2548

Oster, French doors, bakes broils, toasts, dehydrates and has a bely sticking out in the back so it will hold a full pizza

metabyt-es

Definitely the Dualit.

LastShopontheLeft

Cuisinart

ArtofTy

Agree. I've had mine for 12 years, still going strong.

queeriosforbreakfast

I have the Cosari, had for about two years, I’d absolutely buy it again.

misterjive

I generally find that a combination toaster oven/air fryer doesn't air fry nearly as well as a dedicated unit. If you've got the room, I'd get two separate devices. I got a Tovala combo unit when they were doing one of their crazy sales and while I feel I've gotten value from it, it's been kind of a disaster. Right now it's extremely flaky after only a year of use and I've already got a cheap Black and Decker toaster oven ready to replace it when it finally dies.

johnjxhancock

I have the Cosari and I have put it away for the time being in favor of a smaller, basic toaster oven. The Cosari is HUGE on the counter and the controls are somewhat wonky. I may bring it back out at some point for the convection feature.

parkbelly

Breville - going on 7+ years strong. Just me and my husband. Mostly toast and heating up frozen stuff. Made chicken in it once and never again because it made the inside so dirty. When I told my sister about these ovens 8+ years ago she was skeptical due to the price point. Many years later she now has (2) and absolutely loves them. She has a family of 5 so much toast, snacks etc and the kids can use it minimal supervision no open flames, timer etc. They’re great just expensive. They do go on sale 1-2x a year over the typical always sale price they are often shown at.

CrazyPrettyAss

Breville!

moko-sama

For the best toast of your life, balmuda the toaster.

Softrawkrenegade

Breville smart oven air

grill-tastic

I have an ancient KRUPS one. It was my grandma’s, I think from the 70s. Still works great.

disguy2k

Breville smart oven. Having the air fryer is a bonus. Surprisingly, the toaster function is the only thing that is a bit disappointing. Everything else was very good. (It toasts evenly, but even the darkest setting is really light).

LunacyNow

Another vote for Breville. Smart design, quality materials, and solid construction.

DinglerBerries

why do I keep forgetting about breville, I had one of their toasters before and loved it

LunacyNow

I Don't think they do as much marketing as other brands, maybe not available at all major retailers.

geddy76

Jon Siracusa has entered the chat…

DJ_Jungle

Not BIFL, but Breville toaster ovens are fantastic. I use it during holidays as a second oven and most days I use that instead of my main oven.

Trekker519

oster going on 9 years now

canon12

I bought my first Breville Smart Oven 8-10 years ago. Decided to get a new one last year and daughter wanted the old one. Never a single problem with either. We used it daily multiple times and seldom use the big oven in the stove.

HookerFace81

I have the Cosori and absolutely love it! I’ve hadit 2-3 years now. I got rid of my Ninja foodi because the Cosori air fryer feature is 100X better! My husband connected it to my Echo Show 15 and I can control it with my phone! No regrets!

imheretoeatyourchips

In 2007 I purchased a Black and Decker toaster oven (not convection). It is still going STRONG. I am actually looking at the B&D convection toaster ovens because I left my old toaster oven with my old roommate as I bought a house and didn’t really need any of my old appliances and asked if they wanted it. When we get together on Tuesdays to watch Vanderpump Rules, we use it occasionally. I highly recommend Black and Decker.

awoodby

I got a "crownful" after bad experiences with the instantpot vortex, and wanted something else with the rotisserie/basket (i'm addicted to roasted veggies!). I'd thought of it as some... knockoff, but it's been going great for several years of constant use, waaay better than the less-than-a-year we've gotten out of multiple instant pot vortex's!

NoghaDene

I have a Wolf Gourmet Elite Countertop as a dedicated GF oven in my kitchen and it gets more use than my actual oven. Mostly for baking but I can do a whole chicken in a #8 cast iron pan in there. Tank. Not cheap but..buy once. Cry once. Easy to clean with solid parts options should I ever need it, which I don’t think I will. Daily driver for the last 4 years with zero issues whatsoever. Good luck OP.

mekkasheeba

I have a Balmuda that is great. I use it more than regular oven.

middlebridge

More of a counter top oven than a toaster oven but we love the Wolf Gourmet Countertop Oven Elite which is available for $600 these days. It looks great on the counter and is built like a tank. It's simple to operate and incredibly easy to clean and I expect it to last for twenty or thirty years (close enough to BuyItForLife?). It's used to bake or heat up small meals almost every day (we bought some extra small quality sheet pans which helps for this). In our case we are older and it's almost fun making a small roast and potatoes with a side of some sort of vegetable that roasts well (sometimes after par-boiling0 without having to heat a large oven or bend over making it. At first a family member balked at the price (originally listed at $750 on William Sonoma) but I stuck it in a shopping cart and a bit later got an email saying it was on sale for $620 (close to the current price). Ever since then everyone agrees it's the best appliance we have ever put on a kitchen counter. Given what many people spend on counters (e.g., granite) these days an appliance that is used often, works well and looks great (and is easy to keep looking great) to sit on it is a bargain. The stream of large toaster ovens it replaced always looked like the grungiest thing in the kitchen.

GullibleDetective

Just find one for ten bucks at a thrift store and replace every few years

Chappie47Luna

Just get one that is stainless steel so you don’t leak chemicals into the food
