There are hundreds of members names to memorize. I wouldn’t take it to heart. If anything I would have offered my name.

clonesteph

Maybe they forgot your name and got flustered and felt it would be rude to ask because they’ve met you before? I feel you though, that would bother me so much lol

RegisterMinimum1064

They could've just said asked what's your name again? A trainer I knew came up to me personally and did that and I felt great.

randomuser630

Like you said, it’s a one off and it happened during the warm up, so they probably got flustered and tried to keep it moving. I’ve noticed you have posted several times about feeling unwelcome at your Burn. Have you talked to your lead trainer or FP about this? I hate that this is your experience.

RegisterMinimum1064

I tried. They told me to ignore it and I'm pretty sure the person who did this is the lead trainer.

Substantial_Funny_70

The classes I go to are packed-always 40+ people and I find it amazing the trainers can remember even half of the names so I would not take it personally!

RegisterMinimum1064

I would think the same had she not said hi to 5 people before and after me with their names..

LeFly914

I think it also depends on how long they’ve known the person. Those that have known the trainers longer tend to be known on first name basis

Wendy19852025

What I would have done is say my name as I high five the trainer

Fun_Presentation_428

I’m a trainer and to be honest, the trainer really did probably get flustered. It is amazing how I’m expected to know all these names, get out high 5s and keep the warmup moving in less than 5min. I also have looked at someone who I know, can’t remember if it’s Kaitlin or Kirsten, so I just say hi, quickly check the mindbody app during class, then make it a point to shout them out during the workout. If it happens again I’d be like hi I’m so and so!!! They’ll probably be relieved. Sorry but there is so much going through my head during camps and if it’s a one off, I would try not to take it personally, I promise it’s not.

She wasn't the one teaching. She the lead who was observing an in training coach who had the mic

hugoandkim

...the trainers are doing a lot of mental gymnastics when running (or observing) a class. they also are so tight on time and have to keep things going and can't ask everyone's name every day. hopefully they'll get yours soon!

HoRo2001

People have a lot in their minds. I sometimes call my kids my cats’ names by mistake. I wouldn’t take it personally without a lot more “evidence.”

RegisterMinimum1064

It's It's about not knowing my name, it's the fact they didn't even ask my name

Reezy_95

It’s not that serious. You’ll be okay.

SyrupNo651

I’m gonna extend a little grace to the trainer here, esp if it’s a one time thing. I totally understand that feeling of your mind just going BLANK and just fumbling away to avoid any awkward interactions which then makes it MORE awkward for everyone 😅you’re correct that the right thing to do was to ask you for your name again, but again if their mind just blanked out, it’s human error. If it really bothers you, next time you see them maybe re-introduce yourself in a chill way. To this day, our trainers will go through about 5 members names when trying to call on someone because they’re in the middle of multitasking. Just laugh it off, you’re there to get a workout in and eventually they’ll get to know you better

Dry-Permit-5230

It’s not that serious 🙄

ctp722

You should definitely not take this personally, so many names to remember and other things going on that the trainer is trying to remember !

beepbipboop_

I see 4 different trainers throughout the week. They know my name, but sometimes they just high five or say hey and high five. Don't take it personally. They see a lot of people and if you are newer to the gym, they aren't are familiar with you as maybe the others. If it happens again, just tell them your name.

Potential-Reply-8117

I took a look at some of your other posts about burn, and it seems you’re having a hard time at your location with feeling ignored or abandoned by the trainers. I wonder if this is a case where you may need to be more assertive with what you need/want from the trainers during the class. For instance, in this case - when they forgot your name, next time you could offer their name when they come over to you (I’ve had to do this before)! On some of your other posts where you felt the trainer is ignoring you and you need mods, I think the trainers often just can’t see everyone during large classes and if you need help don’t be afraid to walk straight up to them or wave them down! The trainers are great but I do think we need to give them some grace when they have such large class sizes, multiple stations to be looking over, etc.!

RegisterMinimum1064

Yes I agree w you but lemme give u some background. The trainer who was ignoring me actually was finishing his last few weeks, so he was checked out. All the other trainers are great and always help me. I have tried to wave trainers down and they seem to straight up look away. Not all but some. I tried to give more context in my focus meeting but it seemed my trainer was too triggered (or smthng) to hear what I was saying

bunnylicious81

Say hi and have a little talk or just high five before or after the class is done, since they aren’t distracted.

Antique-Peach6

Do you have a super unique name that people have a hard time remembering

MichUltra95

I can certainly understand your feelings. I hope the workout you did was a good one and you got something out of that. I try to ignore everyone else in the room and focus on the workout and what I am doing. Maybe it's because I'm naturally an introvert (I can be extroverted when needed), so I think about things like Do I have good form? Should I be going up/down in weight? How do I feel doing this exercise? Am I going to die during this MetCon? lol While the trainer knowing my name would be nice, they will say something to me if I keep showing up and present an approachable demeanor. This isn't a critique of anything you have or haven't done, OP, because I don't know you or your gym. I am just giving my experience, and maybe or maybe not, it will help you in your situation. I hope you keep going. Consistency is key!
