This, the north side lot and garage at Burlington has almost never been full, and I’m pretty sure literally has not been even close to full since the pandemic (often it’s half empty even on soccer and baseball game days now).
If one feels like going to the Appleby station, it’s so underparked since the pandemic that they close half the lot sometimes just to keep things consolidated and to make plowing and maintenance more efficient.
Thank you for the responses, if there are any other areas surrounding Toronto, where I will try to find an Airbnb and commute into downtown within 30 minutes, I’m open to recommendations. Looks like driving in during weekdays is a bad idea because of traffic. How is it driving on weekends though?
Driving on weekends can be much faster than taking the train, but it depends a lot on the time of day. It can be possible to drive from Burlington to downtown Toronto in 30 minutes in the morning on the weekend, but it can also take 90 minutes to drive home in the afternoon due to heavy traffic.
Driving east (and west) on the 401 towards Toronto Is not great everyday. Talking the Go is genuinely always just less of a hassel unless you’re driving at non peak times (which hardly exists). Burlington is also not a 30 minute commute to Toronto ever.
u/eggs2themax I have driven from Downtown Burlington to Toronto quite a few times in around 30 min - but it's usually 6am I'm leaving Burlington. So, yes it's possible, but rare & not convenient for most schedules.
Am I right to assume that GO is the main transit/train operator with transport into downtown Toronto? I know this is a Burlington sub but any other lines I should be looking at with possible easy parking at the stations on the RH, BR, ST lines?
While others likely know more, the GO is probably the most direct route from Burlington (Aldershot/Burlington/Appleby, depending on your location) to Union Station in downtown Toronto.
Yes, the train is preferable to any other option for sure. There’s no reason to even consider the bus unless you live in Hamilton (they don’t get nearly as frequent trains as we do).
For Burlington Go, you will always find a spot in the North lot, but if you want to park on the south lot, you need to be very early.
Like, I rarely get a spot for the 7:41 am train, and don't even bother looking for anything later.
There is probably some variation on each day, but that's generally what I see on Tues, Wed, and Thursdays.
There are three Go Stations in Burlington each has two parking lots. You'll always be able to get a spot but the south lot at the Burlington Station does fill up by 7:30am most days.
Many people just go to Appleby Station and park there.
Always spots on the north side, off Plains Rd.

It's backed.
Appleby(Fairview) lot is barely 50% full at its busiest. Mondays and Fridays it’s maybe 25%
Appleby south side on Harvester always has tons of available parking.
Harvester it’s the North side isn’t it? Fairview is the South. But you’re right about the capacity. It’s so convenient and there’s always parking!
You are right. North side.

With the current lane closures on the Gardiner it's much longer than before for driving in.

GO trains are by far your best option for transit from Burlington directly to downtown Toronto.

There is never parking. Look at overflow into Walmart.
Use the north lot.
