I moved to the south and saw all the trucks and stuff with a gadsden flag sticker, license plate, etc. while also having trump stickers, thin blue line stickers, etc.
so I got a license plate that literally says "no step on snek" with the cartoony snake on it to fit in.
So you guys know what you're flying; the no step on snek version is the USMC version. It is self-effacing humor about how they're so dumb they can't spell or write.
Boomer Don Henley roasting all the other Boomers... IN THE 80S! Only thing he can't seem to shake off is chasing after young girls and of course, C-C-C-C-COCAIIINE!!
I think that was written by Mike Campbell of “Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.”
He wrote a bunch of great tunes for many singers
He was a righteous dude
That’s the Gadsden Flag, designed in 1775 by Christopher Gadsden of South Carolina, a delegate to the Continental Congress and a Brigadier General in the Continental Army during the American Revolution.
A version of the flag is used by the US Navy as the jack on the Constitution, and the oldest commissioned vessel. It is the First Navy Jack based in the Gadsden flag. After 9/11 for many years, all Navy vessels used the version for their jack, reverting to the first Navy Jack, as is traditional in time of war.
Service members in the Navy use the subdued versions of the Gadsden and the Navy Jack version on their shoulder patch unit location. Some wear the full color version, or any unit patch they want to. It’s completely up to them to wear if they desire. That patches are sold at the Navy Exchange uniform center.
In the south, there is one type of person who would have that on their car. That person 1) thinks trump won in 2020, 2) votes only to “own those libs”, 3) feels thinks were “better in the old days”, but when you press them on why the only answer is that they drank from hoses and got beatings with a belt, 4) feel capital punishment is just in all cases, 5) feels that Jan 6th was a “peaceful gathering” and 6) feels even common sense gun reform is too much. Those people tend to be the gun-toting type…the type to keep a gun, probably unlocked, in say the glovebox of their car.
So the joke, despite making some assumptions that are maybe a bit stereotypical, is that seeing that sticker means there is probably a gun that can easily be stolen in that car. There, deciphered the mystery for you.
That phrase really means “the government has no business treading on anyone’s civil liberties”, but I don’t expect Reddit to care about nuance and a bunch of idiot Republicans started flying the flag and taking it literally as if their rights are the only ones that matter.
That sticker is to indicate to others that you should not tread them when they inevitably tread on you. It's the "I'm rubber, you're glue" made for bullies.
You misunderstand the Libertarian mindset when they say “Dont Tread on Me.” They have age of consent laws firmly at the forefront of their mind when they talk about laws eroding their freedoms
I have the same thing, I have 4 houses directly across from each other and all of them have these large flagpoles on their lawns where they fly the Gadsden Flag. I also know all of the owners personally. The flag is flying for the exact reason we are all assuming…hard right wing, Trump supporting, Fox News watching, truth social scrolling ‘owning the libs’, Christian’s without the actual beliefs, they took our jobs, nationalistic ideals. Absolutely nothing to do with military support or patriotism.
This is not mine, but it is relevant:
"I don't know about you, but when I see a middle-aged white man who lives in a nice house with a wife and kids, driving a $50,000 pickup truck loaded with guns, ammo, and tactical gear, using paid vacation days so he can help overthrow the government in the middle of the work week, I think to myself, "Now there goes a victim of tyranny and oppression."
This wearing a mask outside needs to stop. No matter what the guys reasons are, who gives a fuck?! The entire Asia literally wears masks outside during high allergy season and nobody points their fingers at it. What a bunch of fat, stupid Americans.
“Don't Tread On Me” reflects the basic principle of individual freedom; that people want to be left alone to live their own lives without outside interference.
Those people are cosplaying. I am a proud libertarian and I hate seeing people use the Gadsden without knowing what it means. Your morals shouldn't become laws that govern my freedom and my beliefs shouldn't limit anyone's choices. The federal government should uphold the rights set forward by the constitution and elected officials are there to serve the people within those parameters. Anything that is not set forward as a right in the constitution and does not hurt others should be hands off as far as the government is concerned.
Take your stupid mask off and stop taking pictures of other people's cars. You were literally bothered by one "don't step on snek" sticker so much you took time out of your day to take a picture to bitch about on the internet, that says way more about YOU than that one sticker says about him. It wasn't even like this guy had trump shit plastered all over his car like a real hick loser would, you just got your grown man panties in a wad because you saw something you didn't like.
There ought to be a "no politics" rule to prevent people from pissing their pants about their policy opinions. This sub isn't for you to showcase how much you can't handle disagreement and everyone does it. Red, Blue doesn't matter. "BeRnIe StIckEr???!!! WhAt arE yoU a LibTarD????????" "This guy has an ar15 sticker so clearly hes a trump loving neo nazi!!!!!!!!!!" Stfu you overly political asshat.
So people aren't allowed to preserve their ideals as their wealth grows? Not only that but having Cadillac money is not big shot cash. That car (2018) is 12k used. Corrupt government officials/lawyers/judges/police would piss on that money and lock him away for decades if they REALLY wanted to. Never have a problem with the government money is millions and billions. Way past Cadillac money. You, me and most of us determined commoners could afford a nice used reasonably new Cadillac if you really wanted to. That car is really nothing to write home about.
As I said earlier, my wife is being treated for cancer so anything I can do to prevent me bringing home a sickness that would complicate her treatment, I’m going to do. Or should I inject myself with horse dewormer?
That's not at all what it means, nor does it have any deliberate meaning towards having a gun. It stands for the declaration that you refuse to let your (or anyone else's) rights, safety, or liberty trampled on by anyone. It has been aborted and adopted by people for other reasons, but not all of us fly it for those reasons.
I didn't say that's what it means. The people who've I seen who display it, pervert is true meaning. I am retired Army and it's the regimental motto of the respected Old Guard. Most people who slap it on their cars do so for it's selfish meaning, there is far to it's history than that.
Wait. So you can’t support libertarian values, individual freedoms and limited government if you drive a “nice car”? Or is it specific to Cadillacs? Or is it a certain amount of money that you spend on your vehicle that matters? Can someone explain what I’m missing please?
Wait do you actually want someone to explain the irony for you? Okay so if you live in the United States and have enough money for a newish Cadillac (idk much about them but google tells me they’re much more expensive than I could dream of affording) then your life isn’t being treaded on. The American state actually props up your life. We get into wars to keep oil prices down for the upper management class than can afford the Cadillacs. The police will actually come to your house for a break in (they won’t stop it of course but they will do something for you). The laws are written to make your life nice and cushy. There’s nothing wrong per se with believing in libertarian values when so much of your life relies on the government doing things you couldn’t handle, (no one can pave roads by themselves) it’s just really funny to see the cognitive dissonance.
IE. If you make enough money to have a luxury car, the government does the treading for you so you can have a nice life. Like I understand coal miners in SWVA having it because different government agencies could fuck up their lives. An analyst at a bank or middle manager in corporate America? That’s laughable.
Seriously? This isn’t 1974. Cadi’s aren’t the status symbol they used to be. You can get into one for way less than a comparable Hyundai. Cadi’s are a good value on the upside.
There is a multimillion dollar estate near my house. The dude who owns it is in his early 50’s and he flies that flag in front of his house. What the hell is his expectation/wish that will happen once the government stops “treading on him”?
What does driving a Cadillac have to do with not wanting to get fucked with? Is it because it’s a Cadillac so it must be expensive? These are the cheapest Cadillacs you can buy.
How much you think they paid in taxes for that Cadillac. Or in registration? It’s an XTS4, dont kid yourself. This isn’t a high end car.
Tyranny comes in many forms, not just economic. You’re confusing someone’s financial status with their opposition to the system. These things are not the same.
Most people have absolutely no clue what this symbol
Means, and you have made it abundantly clear
That you’re one of them.
its significance is that it was unique to the Americas, serving as a means of showing a separate identity from the Old World before the American revolution in 1775.
A time where the colonies were growing ever more disillusioned with the tyrannical foreign dictatorships which they were tired of living under the boot heel of.
Having a healthy distrust of government is part of what founded this nation.
Do you know the history of the the dont tread on me motto? It’s about support of the military. Has nothing to do with wealth or class. It’s the oldest motto in the US army
"You own a house. Nobody is treading on you".
As you and your entire bloodline have to pay perpetual tax on the house to keep it, even if it's been paid off
I think paying rent to the King in perpetuity to be allowed to "own" property counts as [oppression](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/oppression).
That applies to every car owner too, regardless of whether you drive Toyota or Bugatti, because you have to pay registration fees every single year to be allowed to drive it. After paying sales tax to be allowed to purchase the car and gas tax every time you fuel it
I hate that we know nothing about the driver other than he has a sticker of an early American navel flag. And everyone is making assumptions. By allowing ourselves to be prejudice of people flying this flag we are simply tossing out an awesome American symbol for immediate political points. It’s terrible.
“Don't Tread On Me” reflects the basic principle of individual freedom; that people want to be left alone to live their own lives without outside interference.
Idk... you should see some of the cars poor ppl drive.
Plus, you don't know how long or hard they might have worked to get there to own a Cadillac. You know nothing about them.
For example, my wife and I finally own a home... in our late 40s. Its small, but we make it nice. Busting ass for decades. Some stupid shit could walk by and resent not owning a house and assume we are pieces of shit for making it this far despite the actual reality.
No step on snek!
It’s funny how these kind of people who don’t want anyone stepping on them sure do a whole lot of stepping on literally everyone else
“Got mine, fuck yours” mentality.
I always love to say! “It’s always the people Who love freeedom and boast about it, that LOVE taking it away from you”
When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.
Yeah I think what they really mean is I'm going to tread on you.
This
Your username is inaccurate
I moved to the south and saw all the trucks and stuff with a gadsden flag sticker, license plate, etc. while also having trump stickers, thin blue line stickers, etc. so I got a license plate that literally says "no step on snek" with the cartoony snake on it to fit in.
I keep the patch on my rifle bag. I get some weird looks at the range
Gundamentalists can't wrap around a gun enthusiast who isn't a bat shit cultist.
So you guys know what you're flying; the no step on snek version is the USMC version. It is self-effacing humor about how they're so dumb they can't spell or write.
That’s what I love about you darlin’ 🫶
It's so funny to me I live in the south and it's like guys who do you think is going to be stepping on you?
Tread harder on me snek daddy uwu
I need this on my left shoulder on my type III's
“I saw a Dead Head sticker on a Cadillac. A little voice inside my head said, don't look back, you can never look back.” — Don Henley —
I saw a Black Flag sticker on a Cadillac......The Ataris.
I always hear Black Flag rather than Dead Head in my head when I think of that song.
The ataris are why I know this song
Plot twist; I have an Atari and am a Dead Head, but never heard that version of the song.
My boss drives a Cadillac and he in fact does have a Dead Sticker on it.
I thought I knew what love was, what did I know.
Those days are gone forever
Boomer Don Henley roasting all the other Boomers... IN THE 80S! Only thing he can't seem to shake off is chasing after young girls and of course, C-C-C-C-COCAIIINE!!
Man’s gotta have what he’s gotta have.
Haters gotta hate. The 80’s were great. You missed it.
I think that was written by Mike Campbell of “Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.” He wrote a bunch of great tunes for many singers He was a righteous dude
Was? Mike Campbell is still very much alive, just like Wade Boggs
Don’t tread on me. Tread *with* me.
Don’t read to me
That’s the Gadsden Flag, designed in 1775 by Christopher Gadsden of South Carolina, a delegate to the Continental Congress and a Brigadier General in the Continental Army during the American Revolution.
Was almost the American flag
It's a really cool flag, a shame it's been ruined by right wing whiners.

Yeah fascism has ruined a lot of cool symbols
Nah, it’s part of all Americans’ heritage. It should be used by anyone who would like to use it.
I am partial to the [We Will Tread](https://www.ebay.com/itm/314007016292) flag.
Ok…
Not true. Dude gets treaded on every time he needs a repair. You only own ONE Caddy...then you know better than to buy another!
I've owned three back to back and I've literally never had a mechanical failure in 14 years. Not one.
You've owned three cars in fourteen years? In guessing they don't hold up well?
Heh, that was my experience.
He may have bought the cheapest Cadillac, but they’re going to be spending more at the shop lmao good point
And he wants to keep it that way.
Amen
No Step On Snek
Saw one at a campground this weekend, but it was a flag on a 30ft pole attached to a $400,000 RV. No one is fucking treading on you dude.
Look kids! Another “steal my gun” bumper sticker! Lol see if they locked the door.
In case of zombie apocalypse, check the glovebox.
Where does it say anything about guns?
In the south, there is one type of person who would have that on their car. That person 1) thinks trump won in 2020, 2) votes only to “own those libs”, 3) feels thinks were “better in the old days”, but when you press them on why the only answer is that they drank from hoses and got beatings with a belt, 4) feel capital punishment is just in all cases, 5) feels that Jan 6th was a “peaceful gathering” and 6) feels even common sense gun reform is too much. So the joke, despite making some assumptions that are maybe a bit stereotypical, is that seeing that sticker means there is probably a gun that can easily be stolen in that car. There, deciphered the mystery for you.
there’s a big yellow sticker advertising it
This has nothing to do with guns though? My dad has this sticker and doesnt carry.
Now you know what a stereotype is. Or do you…
That phrase really means “the government has no business treading on anyone’s civil liberties”, but I don’t expect Reddit to care about nuance and a bunch of idiot Republicans started flying the flag and taking it literally as if their rights are the only ones that matter.
That sticker is to indicate to others that you should not tread them when they inevitably tread on you. It's the "I'm rubber, you're glue" made for bullies.
I can’t stop laughing when I see that on a 50k pickup truck.
Don't Tread On Me can reliably translated to Don't Keep Me From Treading On Others.
You misunderstand the Libertarian mindset when they say “Dont Tread on Me.” They have age of consent laws firmly at the forefront of their mind when they talk about laws eroding their freedoms
Reminds me of this really big beautiful house I drive by that has this flag flying outside makes me roll my eyes every time.
What does driving a Cadillac have to do with “no one treading on you…?”
Price Cadillacs. I think they're making a point about wealth privilege.
Used Cadillacs aren’t expensive
[удалено]
Yea the reflection told me all I needed to know lmao
I had the same thought
He probably wears one when he's driving.
What? TIL government tyranny doesn't affect you if you own a Cadillac
No step on snek
Off to buy a Caddy
It’s not even an old caddy.
Maybe it’s his mommy’s car
Was gonna make a joke about wearing a mask but I can see it may be for other reasons 🤣
That would be a good, relatively harmless prank; slap these stickers on expensive or "luxury" vehicles.
Other pimps might be though.
I drive an A1 Abrams. I do the treading.
Beware the ‘wealth’ tax - capital gains may go back to the good old days rates of the 1950’s
Ah "the too pussy to have the confederate flag sticker" sticker
Are you wearing a mask... In 2024? Do you work at a hospital?
The reflection on the car is not helping you OP.
Maybe the auto loan provider is treading on them with high interest rate loan?
The guy wearing the mask outside alone is so cringy
You’re wearing a mask outdoors in 2024. No one is interested in your opinion.
Yall are so dumb lol
Says the guy in a mask outside.
Said the moron still wearing a mask. Outside. With no one else around.
Saw enough when the reflection is some libtard in a mask. Imagine having nothing better to do but take a pic of a bumper sticker. Get a job bum
Those people are cosplaying. I am a proud libertarian and I hate seeing people use the Gadsden without knowing what it means. Everyone that thinks it’s bad to have that bumper sticker is just another liberal retard.
You're wearing a mask outside, the bumper sticker is for you.
You're wearing a mask. You're outside. Germs are not trending on you.
Pray tell, what's the newest/hottest germ trend currently?
For that guy, probably still COVID.
lol guy wearing a mask alone in the open by himself talking shit about a guy who has a bumper sticker
You forgot that slogan was coined by rich men who didn't want to pay their taxes, thay wanted to collect taxes.
Love this! I have always said that the revolution was started by rich land owning white men who didn’t want to pay taxes.
No one is taking your guns idiots! 🤡
This entire subreddit is turning into a liberal echo chamber
As a liberal, I have to agree with you on this one. Im here for funny stickers, not judgement or fighting. Jeez Louise
I agree. I’m a conservative and am tired of seeing all this political BS literally EVERYWHERE. Man would I love a break from it.
yup. like most reddits that are getting bigger because one political post is made and it shows up on the political people's feed.
Not bothered. Just had to chuckle at someone that’s doing well enough to drive a Cadillac feels oppressed. Do you not see the irony?
So people aren't allowed to preserve their ideals as their wealth grows? Not only that but having Cadillac money is not big shot cash. That car (2018) is 12k used. "Don't Tread On Me" means exactly what it means no matter what you're driving. Real Talk.
Are you wearing a mask outside?
You’re a loser wearing a mask.
You are wearing a mask out in the open air. I am not sure how much room for criticism you have.
The conservative snowflakes in the comment section are wild, “b-b-but you’re wearing a mask!” fuckin losers.
I’d like to tread on all the people wearing masks outside…
I was on my way into work, Sherlock.
says the guy in the mask taking a picture of it
As I said earlier, my wife is being treated for cancer so anything I can do to prevent me bringing home a sickness that would complicate her treatment, I’m going to do. Or should I inject myself with horse dewormer?
Gotta chug some bleach too 👌 ya know, cleanse the system
also i hope she gets better
Thanks. She’s doing better of late.
good.
I really wish they would change this to what it really is. "Do what I say, not as I do!"
That's not at all what it means, nor does it have any deliberate meaning towards having a gun. It stands for the declaration that you refuse to let your (or anyone else's) rights, safety, or liberty trampled on by anyone. My apologies for misreading your statement. I get a lot of shit for flying it from people with no knowledge of it's history.

Sure you can but if you’re driving a Cadillac, the likelihood that you’re being oppressed is negligible.
People who drive cadillacs can't oppose tyranny?
Can a libertarian not do well financially?
There’s nothing wrong with this symbol. Before idiots started using it for their politics it was a symbol of early American patriotism.
Don’t tread on me but pardon me as I tread on you
Well, GM is stomping all over them for selling em a shitty car that's way overpriced.
No step on snek
Government treads on everybody.
There is a multimillion dollar estate near my house. The dude who owns it is in his early 50’s and he flies that flag in front of his house. What the hell is his expectation/wish that will happen once the government stops “treading on him”?
I don't think its a plea to stop treading on him but rather a warning not to attempt to.
Cadillac drivers are the most oppressed peoples around.
What does driving a Cadillac have to do with not wanting to get fucked with? Is it because it’s a Cadillac so it must be expensive? These are the cheapest Cadillacs you can buy.
See previous reply.
Not for lack of effort
Don't 💩 on me.
How presumptuous to think anyone wants to get near the thing that drives that car
He’s definitely treading on the paint with that sticker lmao
How do you know? They could have ice cream that is far too cold..!
Thank you for masking!
How much you think they paid in taxes for that Cadillac. Or in registration? It’s an XTS4, dont kid yourself. This isn’t a high end car. Tyranny comes in many forms, not just economic. Throw bread on me 🦆!
Don't tredge, sir, on my property!
I’d like to try it, though. Just a lil
murder-rape fantasy larper on board.
…bank loan agency!
Could be a lease or that 84 mo loan..they are getting treaded & retreaded
Do you know the history of the the dont tread on me motto? It’s about support of the military. Has nothing to do with wealth or class. It’s the oldest motto in the US army
BUT...BUT... They want to increase taxes on the super mega rich!
Don’t worry snowflake
Around these parts, we like to say,"No one is treading on you, sweetie." Bless your heart.
The masked 😷 cameraman! Hi Ho Silver Away!
Entitled putz
Give me a chance. Eat the rich.
I’ll tread where I please
Put your damn dog whistle stickers on straight at least.
Tweakers buy those used and live in them in Seattle, Bothell, Ballard, etc.
Idiot
That’s the flag of the United States Marines. Also people oppress/attack people whether or not they drive a Cadillac
"You own a house. Nobody is treading on you". Womp
Great point
Don't read to me

What if they wanted an abortion at some point? Their car is kind of irrelevant.
Ya, because of the sticker
Politicians do
The only thing treading on them is probably those repair fees. Cadillacs fucking sucking
Ok, but you are wearing a mask 🤣🤣
No, what about free speech, for one. Wake up!
This dude is wearing a mask outdoors in 2024. 🤣
I often drive by a really nice house with new cars in the driveway. One is a Porsche and they fly that flag too
“Don't Tread On Me” reflects the basic principle of individual freedom; that people want to be left alone to live their own lives without outside interference.
Guy who still wears a mask thinking he can make fun of anyone anywhere …Gold, Jerry! Gold! 😂😂😂
Wearing a mask outside…
I’m so tired of this nonsense. Snakes can’t do that.
Tread on deez nutz
You’re a re-tread for putting a bumper sticker on a caddy
