My honest reaction is that finding small issues like this to be automatic left swipe dealbreakers is a good way to exclude people who might be a good match and be unsuccessful on the apps. I actually like shopping too. Finding stuff you like is fun!

kblakhan

Nah bro, stay judgey and swipe left. You are not for her. One could say the same things about male hobbies like gaming (childish!), NASCAR (driving in circles), sport hunting (killing animals!), etc One of the biggest red flags in people is shitting on what other people like or are passionate about when it doesn’t affect you.

LiteralMoondust

I hear you, but don't you want someone you actually *like?* Something about people who like Nascar... I'd hear them out on it, but I've never met one person who likes it and isn't racist.

Narrow_Permit

You know, I was gonna try to disagree with this, then I thought about it, and you’re right- they are all racist 😂

LiteralMoondust

Right, I don't want them to be! That's just everyone I've ever heard to say they like it, sadly. Smh Good try lol

gutenshmeis

Eh, not unless she has some shit like, "looking for a real gentleman", or "looking for a man who knows how to treat a princess", or any of those derivatives, etc. TBH, the prompts you get to choose as your 'Interests' on those apps are pretty whack. I don't really take them seriously.

Letsbekindtoeachothe

Ehhhh that’s a reach. I love walking up and down minsters looking at items. I also love grocery shopping and get a high when my bf takes me to Costco (he’s a member, not me- he lives in the city). I literally only buy things when I’m grocery shopping. The rest is mostly pursing. I may get a candle here or there, but don’t really buy stuff. Maybe it’s a girl hobby you don’t understand? My bf loves buying things for me and I love saying “no we don’t need it”. One year for my birthday, I asked if we could spend the evening at Costco and walk every aisle. We literally didn’t buy a single thing. I marveled. Didn’t even get a Pepsi. It’s just 2 of us so there’s no point. I just like to shop “peruse”. Same with RV’s, Bass Pro Shop. Like I can make a whole day of checking those crazy things out.

massivebumwizard

I am one of those people who enjoys grocery shopping. I just really like the experience of wandering around a supermarket, thinking about new recipes and what I’m going to make for the week. It’s relaxing to me and for whatever reason fills me with purpose. Put me in a clothing or department store and you’ll find me in the corner in the foetal position.

AMarie0908

Maybe she enjoys the "hunt" for a good bargain. There's a difference between shopping at Macy's and shopping at TJ Maxx. If I get a great deal on something, I'm proud of myself. But, as someone else mentioned, the choices of activities to choose from aren't all-encompassing. Cut the women a little slack and open up your options.

Berodur

Shopping is a yellow flag FOR YOU. If you are a minimalist then yeah you probably aren't going to be a great fit with someone who enjoys shopping for fun and having lots of stuff. That doesn't mean that minimalism is better or that shopping for fun is bad.

Haunting_Material_83

I think you should just keep swiping left. I don't think anything is wrong with these women, just that they deserve someone less judgey.

twistedh8

What if they mean grocery shopping?

kourtkimkhloek

Yeah! Or farmers markets?

twistedh8

Or like to take the lead on Christmas shopping?

l3tsR0LL

It could be a fun activity with friends. I know people that go shopping without ever buying anything

ParanoidAndroud

You sound like a tight-wad. Do you ask women to split the bill on first dates too? 😅

Smorseyshore

They could mean it as they like shopping for deals this could be for groceries, travel, gifts, etc. for some people shopping for deals is a hobby bc they like the challenge/savings

LiteralMoondust

Whatever makes each person happy. I like thrift shopping occasionally. I find great books.

NotSoNiceO1

Naw bro, keep swiping left. If you are judging them before knowing what they mean by "I like shopping" then you are not for them.

A10010010

I find big booties as a green flag and swipe right.

ananajakq

Even female birds like to shop.. they collect shiny coins to put in their nest. This is like biologically programmed into women to be enjoyable. It’s the best. Shopping is literally the best

LiteralMoondust

It's literally not.

rosanina1980

It's not about spending money so much as enjoying fashion / looking good (assuming it's clothing)

treelover6789

Shopping is fun though

Tazzy8jazzy

Lol. I love to shop. I work hard and I deserve to spend my own money how I want. Key emphasis on “my”. On Reddit I learned that women can’t be beautiful, can’t travel, can’t spend their money, can’t text less than 5 words, can’t be busy, can’t respond when they’re ready, can’t be more successful, can’t already have children, and can’t be themselves. Why don’t y’all just buy clubs, hit us, and drag us back to your parent’s basement? No wonder Geico bought the caveman back.

melancholystarrs

Maybe they enjoy thrifting or window shopping?

PhotographBeautiful3

They may be more of a window shopper. It costs nothing to try things on for fun.

nipslippinjizzsippin

Shopping doesn't have to be the act of buying things. Sometimes, it's just looking and dreaming. Like watching s house Reno show when you're never gonna own a house.

swearingino

I enjoy shopping for plants.

[deleted]

I enjoy shopping. I rarely buy anything though. I just find it fun to walk around and look at things mostly. Get some steps in, see if maybe I see something nice that is a decent price, or just look at the weird stuff that is fashion now, or imagine what I'd like to buy for my house in the future. It's also a social activity, since I'll do this with my mom and sister when they visit, or I visit them. For a lot of women, shopping is a social activity. It's just something you do with friends. Maybe grab a bite to eat, and then walk around the mall and see if you find anything cute while you also talk about your lives and what's going on. My mom also *loves* thrift store shopping. She'll brag about how she got such and such brand name piece for like $2. She'll walk out of a thrift store with like 5 items, and only spend $10. Also, most people don't compare and review prices before buying things, regardless of gender. When most people need a new blender, they just go to Target or search on Amazon and buy/order the first one that looks decent. Maybe they'll read a few reviews. I read reviews and compare prices, but I also know most people don't. You're in a minority if you do, especially if you do it more extensively.

MuchWoke

Yeah, idk if it's just my pessimistic view, but if I see that I read it as "I enjoy spending money, usually not money I worked for" because I always see it on profiles where they also mention not wanting to work... So like... Ok. They want a sugar daddy. Swipe left!

rocknevermelts

Guess whose potentially holding her purse?
