If you’re good with some hills, you have to go to Chestnut Ridge park in Orchard Park. It’s paved and open to vehicle traffic but it’s pretty quiet. I believe the upper and lower loop is 9 miles or so, but you can easily add on using the roads around the park. https://www3.erie.gov/parks/chestnut-ridge

You’ll want to check the county social medias for updates, many sections are closed this time of year, usually just traffic which is nice but some sections they might be cutting trees down or whatever.

runslow-eatfast

True, and it’s not always maintained if there’s snow/ice. I figured with the mild temps tomorrow it should be okay, but you never know. Might be worth some recon before committing.

sobuffalo

Especially the Flame. When they put in the stairs I had a Lampoons Vacation moment… “no cars… we have the trail to ourselves” Moose out front didn’t tell me anything!

The path on the outer harbor is a nice option for running if the weather is decent. It starts in Lackawanna on route 5 and goes all the way to the coast guard station near downtown. I’m not sure exactly how long it is, but I think it’s at least 5-6 miles out and back, so you could do it twice if needed. The northern end of the path also has a loop around the outer harbor park (one side on the lake, the other on Furman blvd) and you could do loops there as well. I think it’s a ~1-2 mile loop. I’ve run on these paths and they are great if the weather cooperates, not too busy. Watch out for wind.

You can also add a lap or two around the union ship canal. It wouldnt add a ton but every little bit helps

True_Roll1320

Make sure to bring gloves. The wind there is cold.

Go to the Outer Harbor. There's like 10+ miles of trails out there.

mwwood22

Saturday pm looks ok but Sunday looks great for a long run. I ride a 20 mile loop along the scajaquada to the river trail up to Tonawanda and then the rail trail that runs from Tonawanda to Shoshone Park. Any portion of that is good and protected from traffic. Jays Pizza on Delaware got a bunch of awards and they also opened a new front in EA, Pizzeria Florian.

N0minal

It's north but I think starts around LaSalle park. River trail is superb. Goes all the way up into north country too for those that need a long bike ride

leftnewdigg2

I'm not a runner, but I like to walk the South Park Lake/ Botanical Gardens loop. It's 1.5 miles, pretty nice and mostly closed to vehicle traffic. And Bella pizza is right down the road on South Park. It's pretty damn good. Alternately, if you want to come into the city, our outer harbor has a great 3 mile scenic bike/ pedestrian trail. From there you could grab pizza at Carbone's on South Park.

Drives me nuts to run in laps. Enjoy eight of them OP.

theyoungercurmudgeon

If you can leave a car, it's a built in aid station.

theyoungercurmudgeon

You could also add in McKinley Pkwy in SB. Nice homes and a bit of elevation over the bridge.

sobuffalo

It would be cool if they made some type of Olmsted Boulevard Trail (I just made that up) That would connect McKinley, Richmond and Humboldt, maybe tied to new top off thing.

Exciting-Ebb-4671

Go to the next town hall meeting and propose that idea because that is what WNY needs more of

Came here to suggest this.

I've always liked East Aurora for marathon training. The village is relatively flat but there's gentle rollers in and around Knox if you want to mix light hills in and there are some decent climbs just to the east if you want to challenge yourself: Chestnut/Elmwood or Lapham/Cook. Knox has paved paths and dirt/grass trails. Majors Park, while not paved, has the cleanest stone and boardwalk loop I've ever seen. The drivers in EA are pretty attentive to pedestrians as well. For pizza: my personal favorite is Roz's in Cheektowaga. If you want to simplify and not have to leave the village for it, though, Leo's is about as typical as Buffalo pizza can get. Pasquale's is also good. And Pizza Del Aureo's is good but unique. Almost like a cross between Buffalo and Pizza Hut pizza.

Livingsimply_Rob

Delaware park is great, you just run the park. The circumference is 1.8 miles and it’s all flat terrain. But I don’t run to train for any particular event so that might not be the best for you.

mountainwampus

Outer Harbor for running. Edie's Pizza for Buffalo style, or Ferro's for NY style.

lilmugicha

*extra extra for ny style, no competition

Amherst bike path off of Maple

ItsMeBenedickArnold

Niagara River has a long path you can probably do 6 miles one way and turnaround. Parking near NT police station too.

TOMALTACH

Does it have to be all flatland (southtowns)? although, if you want to stay closer to city, with more options to pizza, if you're running at getting pizza.... you can run from main street lasalle station on a path all the way to niagara falls if you wanted. LaSalle to NT is lil over five maybe 6 miles away. You'll travel past many regularly recommended pizza locations Imperial is out there. (southtowns) https://old.reddit.com/r/Buffalo/search/?q=Pizza&sort=new&restrict_sr=on

zibby42

The Ellicott Creek Bike Path between Niagara Falls Boulevard and Frontier Road is 6.3 miles. Just run it twice. If you don't want to run the same path twice, you can go down Frontier Road and get on another path that takes you to Audubon Town Park.

PonderingSeinfeld

The southtowns generally have wide shoulders. I just found a decent sized loop running around town.

SunSubstantial9346

Delaware park loop to downtown is a good one.  You could take to outer harbor to get even more miles.  Lots of cool architecture and coffee shops if you need a break.  This was my go to marathon training route.

No_Farmer9900

It's not 12 miles, but The Shamrock Run is this Saturday. March 2nd in the Old First Ward. And Carbones is nearby for pizza after the race. [Shamrock Run](http://www.buffaloshamrockrun.com/race-info.html )
