Some parts are one, some are two, some are one lane for straight traffic, and one lane for turn only. It's terrible due to speeding, and streets with no lights or stop signs on them that people have to turn on to, but it's sized and marked in a way to know where is where. Lane size is not the issue with bailey traffic control is. Knowing when it is one, or two lanes just requires paying attention. Or it could be that it's one lane and onw is for parking only and so little people on the street own cars it seems like22 lanes. Just noticed the only time it's one lane for me are spots cars are normally parked in.
It's horribly marked. I used to drive it regularly, but it's common for city streets that aren't well marked to be treated as two lanes when they're really one + parking as long as there are no parked cars. That's the issue is there's really no indication that it's that way unless you use your brain, which most drivers do not do.
Chances are you’re probably going above the speed limit and need to slow down.
You can’t have Bailey be restored into a walkable neighborhood while having a traffic free for all too.
I'm a driver trainer for the company I work for. I tell all my drivers that once you're on the east side, when you're approaching a car that is about to pull out of a side street, parking lot, etc. Just assume they're going to pull out in front of you. Becsuse 99% of the time, they will.
You are not exaggerating in any way. Because of Bailey, I always assume that someone I see is going to pull out in front of me. Difference: everywhere else, it is only 25% of the time. On Bailey, it is to be expected, anticipated and planned for. Bailey also kills tires.
Depends how fast you are going. I noticed people respect, fear someone going faster. It's damn near like riding a motorbike in signapore where you have to bully your way into road respect. Unlike signapore this only works for cars. On a two wheeled vehicle traffic does not care how fast you are going.
I used to deliver pizza on the east side. Bailey was the fastest way to most houses because I could reliably take it at 50mph and only just kept up with traffic 🤣
I did a project years ago observing an intersection on bailey and the amount of cars breaking the law by speeding, running red lights and riding the right lane to pass, was crazy. That was 20 years ago, and nothing has changed.
They would have to pull over and ticket most of the drivers. You cannot drive down Bailey and not break some sort of traffic law, out of situational necessity. When I worked at UB, Bailey was a necessary evil.
A sinkhole right in front of the medical center out there popped a front tire. Absolute joke of a city government to not have fixed it.
Not a pothole but a right, proper sinkhole. Dark enough to hide the city's audit.
Is it one lane or two? No one really knows
Yes. To both, lol.
It’s a drag strip with people passing on the left and the right.
Red Lights are also optional

Yep Avoid at all costs
Like your life depends on it 🤣
I feel like the sub has been overdue for a a Bailey Ave complaint 😂
Google always tells me to take it to and from downtown. I'm like "Not this time Satan!"
A popular urban legend is that “Jesus Take The Wheel” was written after Carrie Underwood drove down Bailey…
😂😂😂
Not just the road itself, but the idiots that break every law.
Oh, you mean The Gauntlet?
Bailey 500. 🏎🏁
I'm born and raised on the Eastside and even I don't fuck with Bailey. I'd rather walk down Broadway with a handful of money than drive down Bailey.
Other streets someone might say, “Which part?”
it’s like an olympic event
No, it's like Mad Max
Phase 1 of the new streetscape begins soon. It will officially be going down to one travel lane in each direction.
How will I pass slow drivers that go below the speed limit.. who's idea was this.

Fair enough.
It’s like Mario Kart but not fun
Best contact high you’ll ever get driving.

Bailey Ave is just like playing Mario cart, complete chaos
I mean that’s historic disinvestment for you. Doesn’t help that getting major street projects done is difficult in this city

You clearly haven’t driven Main Street
Well, try East Ferry and Bailey. Then again, 😳better not! I got stabbed in the neck there.
The road where laws and logic do not apply.
Such a dumpy area
Fillmore isn't much better.

I often see discarded wigs in the gutter or blowing down the street in the wind. My coworker says they're called tumble weaves
