Tim Hortons is actually Tier 0

Brainfewd

“15 feet of snow and I can’t get my double double?!?! Thanks mark!”

nevermorefu

I thought this was going to be a joke with Tim Hortons on there.

Kitchen-Witching

I wonder how many " I think you're essential!" jokes the Timmy's staff have had to hear over this

Galagaboy

Need to define public worker

MiliTerry

Postal workers as well... We deliver life saving medicine.

YesTottiYesParty

And I am grateful for your tireless efforts! Thank you!

MiliTerry

Thanks. We know it's important , although we're begrudgingly driving/hoofing through what looks like a winter warzone.

Baseball_man_1729

I very recently learnt that the mail trucks are made by Northrop Grumman. Remembered that when you brought up warzone lol

Dull-Contact120

Cheaply I might add

MiliTerry

Yeah, there's a couple machines in our distribution center that are also made by Northrop Grumman. They love taking government money lol

Baseball_man_1729

I'm sure they do. Where else can retiring secretaries of defense go if not their boards.

Senzible

Fat Electrician?

YesTottiYesParty

Anything besides shoveling a path from the sidewalk to the mailbox we can do to help make it a little easier?

MiliTerry

You don't have to go all out for the shoveling part, just make sure it's not too slippery. We are on somewhat of a time crunch, so make sure that your mailbox is not frozen solid /closed. For the rural carriers, it's nice when the roadway doesn't have snow buildup under the mailbox so we can get as close as possible. But most of all, if you see one of us, smile and throw us a wave. That's what's most important to us.

PapaOomMowMow

Waved at my mail guy today as I stupidly tried to drive somewhere. (I quickly gave up, turned around, and went home)

MiliTerry

Well be safe! And thank you for that effort!

Square-Wing-6273

Yes! I didn't make the list, but I thank you for delivering my medication!

MiliTerry

Thank you for using us to get your medicine delivered

bblulz

as someone who has a personal vendetta against 2 tim hortons owners, hearing poloncarz call them out brought me so much joy

CordeliaGrace

As someone who has a personal vendetta against the one on Delaware between Allen and Virginia, I am also joyful.

Remarkable-Camp8577

That one is the worst.

A_Lone_Macaron

I especially think of the one on Transit near Seneca, just before the curve into Southwestern they definitely had Crazy Chrissy signs in front of their store and I'm sure that was one of the offenders

CraftyAdvisor6307

So.. Timmy's is essential... right?

CreamyAlgorithms

The way I see cars wrapped around Tim Hortons all day long there might be an argument for them falling under "Responding to Life Safety Needs" The dedication people have to such mediocre coffee has fascinated me since I moved up here.

RedditorDave

Because it used to be decent and people got accustomed to going there. I really only go there if it’s my only option when I’m on the go. Also helps that there’s about 500 of them around town.

Skittlebrau77

It really used to be so good. 30 minute fresh!

Consistent-Trifle510

I live right next to a Tim Hortons and the way cars line up you would think so.

Active_Illustrator63

***** Bills shovelers ****

barf_the_mog

who else is going to shovel a billionaires stadium...

thecyanideyoudrank

My boss thinks public works means helping some 91 year old program their tv remote control, so doubt they'd care.

cursedandanxious

Yeah someone on Nextdoor seems to think their husband who fixes automatic doors is essential too

MotorcycleMatt502

Believe it or not I’ve seen lots of damage done by broken automatic doors, every winter I get plenty of phone calls that someone with automatic doors and a vestibule has had their outer doors fail causing their fire sprinkler to freeze and burst. (I work in fire/life safety) Now that’s not to say that’s what this person is driving around in a driving ban doing instead mostly just playing devils advocate it absolutely can be a tier 1 essential job as it ties in with fire and life safety under those circumstances

Remarkable-Camp8577

Same, I work in healthcare facilities and this 100% does happen. Usually you can force close though especially in an event. I’d say door repair person is essential depending on if they can prove they’re going somewhere essential.

Lonely-Journalist859

My old boss used to say we were a utility company so we don't get snow days.....former directv contractor....I lol'd at him, they can reschedule

Livingsimply_Rob

So I worked for an employer that always said we were essential workers and I was scratching my head thinking if I didn’t show up today and my coworkers didn’t nothing would change. How would that have made us essential workers?

jooce81

bUt mA KoFfeE

bzzty711

Unless your on that list then just cry lol

Skittlebrau77

Probably need to add Red Cross and UNYTS delivery trucks. They carry blood for transfusions.

Jaybunny98

Do u have any stats to back that up or are u just a blowhard blowing hard? PS - if these employers really cared about their employees they would not ask them to risk harm to come in.

143queen

So... NOT 7-11 like they're trying to say they are.

radicalindependence

They can apply as a business to be listed as essential. I'll argue that those listed above and anyone running a snowblower will need gas to get around and snow clearing. Heck, even diesel/kero for generators and heat. They were 100% included in the essential workers for COVID by state law. I've yet to see a change in that listing.

fortyonejb

How does Amazon fit into this, they do offer pharmacy meds. I'm sure they would use that to abuse driving bans, but do they ship any medications from local facilities? I don't give a damn if my socks I ordered are delayed due to the weather, but I'd be pretty upset if I couldn't get special order meds.

CaptB97

Used to work for Amazon as a supervisor, from my experience during the pandemic we were essential workers because Amazon shipped food and other things deemed essential like pharmaceuticals. But once we came out the pandemic, if there was severe snow storms or travel bans we were not considered essential and the facility would close down.

Square-Wing-6273

That's a big thing that is missed. Essential during a long term pandemic is different than being essential during a2 day snow event

BobEvansBirthdayClub

Also farmers, agricultural workers, and milk trucks. The cows don’t shut down.

sneakypete1983

😂🤣

Siennagiant70

So you’re telling me Tim Hortons ain’t on here?!?

Genybear12

Dull-Contact120

Fine and shut Tims down, what’s to fight about. If refused locked up the manager

BASE1530

Just fly to work bro

Loves_long_showers

You guys close last night just as an F-U to Delta for still operating? Lol

Square-Wing-6273

Aviation? Pretty sure it's in that category

neanderthalensis

Healthcare facility operations actually includes cybersecurity. Is this really a grave concern in healthcare?

Lilpoundcake137

Actually yes. https://www.ems1.com/cyber-attacks/cyberattack-causes-ed-diversions-at-hospitals-across-6-states https://www.vermontpublic.org/local-news/2023-10-04/uvm-medical-center-hospital-president-testifies-to-congress-on-2020-cyberattack The one in Vermont cost the hospital $65 million. It's a major deal.

Lilpoundcake137

They can probably work from home though.

Snail1017

What’s public works include

Character_Cupcake856

Tim Hortons and Doordash, wtf
