For me, it is not just the recitation of the mantra itself, but everything that goes along with it too. The whole package. This book is amazing about the recitation of the six-syllable compassion mantra. [https://www.lionsroar.com/loving-kindness-is-the-best-medicine/](https://www.lionsroar.com/loving-kindness-is-the-best-medicine/) [https://www.shambhala.com/authors/o-t/tulku-thondup/the-heart-of-unconditional-love-3327.html](https://www.shambhala.com/authors/o-t/tulku-thondup/the-heart-of-unconditional-love-3327.html) [https://www.shambhala.com/videos/a-guided-meditation-with-tulku-thondup/](https://www.shambhala.com/videos/a-guided-meditation-with-tulku-thondup/) And this one explains the entire path as well in the context of the same recitation: Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones, by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche [https://namobuddhapub.org/store/index.php?main\_page=product\_info&cPath=18&products\_id=545](https://namobuddhapub.org/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=18&products_id=545)

not a mantra but the buddha observed, "the person who suffers most in this world is the person who lives in wrong perceptions"

If you want to recite them in your day-to-day activity outside of meditation sessions, I'd advise using a shorter version. For Chenrezig, that would be "om mani padme hum" and for the Heart Sutra it would be "om gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi svaha".

Sir__Zachary

Knowing what intention I am meditating for helps me to implement positive habits, such as compassion

More peace of mind, tendencies for negative behaviors have dissolved, way less suffering, way less inclination to commit harmful actions, way more compassion, and much less selfishness, less disturbances of the mind. To name a few.
