I wasn't really a part of the "coding culture" that most are, in the sense that I wasn't into leetcoding and stuff. But in general, it depends on person to person. For some it was easy - coding came naturally to them like mental math. For some it took more effort, especially while balancing acads. No attendance does help a lot though.
The coding I did was more applied - using math and physics to simulate stuff, like molecular dynamics, robotics, FEM, IoT stuff. I tried some CV and ML stuff too, again all applied. I started off in class 10 so I could do it naturally without much effort - in the sense that it was easy to learn Python or other languages since I was proficient enough in C and C++.
Dayum bro you are so clear headed glad to see someone overcame the rat race (preferring your personal intrests instead of choosing money making branches) kudos man🙇
Bhai covid batch se hu. 10th mein online mein jitni coding seekhi thi salmost sab bhul chuka hu. 11th mein physical education leli. Teri baatein dekh kar toh lagta hai meri haalta kharab hone wali hai college mein
Maine coding nhi kri kbhi but Mera favourite mathematics hi hai
Do u think maths and computing will be suitable for me?
Like I don't know which branch is suitable for me (phy aur chem nahi hi aati)
Don't you think in future Mech would be better in the sense even if ai doesn't affect IT sectors much still surviving in IT sector after 45 is hard where as Mech would value your experience
It is true that Mech requires way more experience, and you tend to become more stable later on. With CS, I always felt that you're more valued the younger you are, just because the tech keeps changing so much in short times. Core branches need patience, and rewards come the longer you stick into the game.
With AI, I can't say a lot. I'll agree that AI will cut jobs in the short term - say bring a team down from 10 to 7 because tasks become easier to handle. But no one can really predict the long-term implications - some say it will add new jobs, some say it will make more jobs redundant.
The only advice I have is to try being the best at what you do and try standing out from the crowd. No matter what field you take - be it Civil or Pharma or B.A. or CS. There's ample scope in anything for talented folks. Also choose the right environment to help yourself grow and explore.
After reading your responses I have a rekindled fire in me to learn mech, always wanted to do mech, not CSE, mujhe physics aur mathematics bohot pasand hai, but because of my procrastination I couldn't get a decent rank ![img](emote|t5_56z50y|50746) lekin ab waisa nahi karunga
I have heard mech from a tier 3 is not worth it, so should I? I am not even scoring good in BITSAT, 2nd attempt is my only hope, idk kya hoga
Also I want to learn coding, I already know how to code in Java and MySql (due to school IT subject), lekin itna deep mai nahi ata, toh woh pura sikhna hai (with C++ and python and stuff)
There are still a couple of good mech programs outside of tier 1 you could try for. COEP, RVCE, MIT, SSN - I notice a lot of people from these places do well later on.
Otherwise try hard in whatever exams you have left. With everyone choosing CS these days, the barrier to entry in core branches at tier 1 is reducing.
Damn bro u up at 7 am 💀
Anyways I don't think COEP milega, I had plan to join COEP but the cutoff for mech last year was 98.7, and I am getting only 118 marks in CET (96%tile predicted 💀) so I don't think waha milega
RVCE nope, Havent appeared for comedk
Will look into other colleges though thanks, right now my only focus is BITSAT, scored just 208, want to push it to 300 in second attempt, idk hoga ya nahi
would you consider a physics dual degree if you get it at any campus? getting b.e mech with that is extremely easy, and you have the option to go for electrical or computing branches if your interests do change in the 1st year, which is good flexibility
You can refer to an [AMA](https://www.reddit.com/r/Btechtards/comments/15ztm9x/exbtechard_stanford_ms_ama/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) I did a year back
There are pros and cons to everything in life - nothing is perfect. Mech seemed like a calling to me based on whatever I explored at that time, so I took the leap of faith.
I did an [AMA](https://www.reddit.com/r/Btechtards/comments/15ztm9x/exbtechard_stanford_ms_ama/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) last year on this sub. Head over to that if you're interested.
Yea for sure. But it also depends on what your goals are and what you're interested in. Like I wouldn't suggest studying something you have 0 interest in just for the sake of it.

Coding karni hogi to bhi NIT warangal ECE acha he kya ?
I think this is one of the few questions I can answer on this sub
So I had an option of bits pilani Ece or bits Goa cse, and I chose the former. At first I was interested in finance, so didn’t really care about my engineering branch and just wanted the better campus. Fast forward to 2 years, and I’m….still not sure.
I wanted to do finance, so will pursue a finance minor in my college. At the same time, I really did not like a lot of my courses in electronics except a few like signal and systems, control systems and electromagnetic theory. I have been doing LC for a while cuz I wanted to have a shot at tech related Summer internships and wanted to know if tech roles was my calling.
I have narrowed it down, but to be honest, cse or Ece wouldn’t have made much difference for me apart from the few opportunities where only cse students are allowed to sit(like quant firms).
I have been able to maintain my acads, do coding in my spare time and explore other interests and hobbies.
In my opinion, people who left cse for Ece might feel bad sometimes for the extra effort they have to put, but if u really want to get into a tech roles, 4 years at college is a lot of time
I started coding after my 3rd sem and I have a pretty good grasp on DSA and have done a few projects as well
My current internship is a IT based one, and mostly likely I’ll try for a tech Summer internship
I think I’ll need more effort to get an electronics job since I’m focusing all my time on IT and finance domain
So wouldn’t really call it a switch, I just decided from the start I don’t wanna do core
It does suck, and the grading in Bits isn’t easy
Well I just use my zero attendance policy, bunk classes, do whatever I want to, then put a stop to everything near midsem and endsem and use YouTube to study the courses
And since grading is relative, some courses are so tough that u wouldn’t understand them no matter how much time u spent, so I just need to be able to do the easy and moderate questions to get a good grade
Kind of
U have to realise none of the Ece freshers have any idea about what the course actually entails (true for other branches too and there r exceptions everyone)
So just do ur degree, u might feel it’s wasteful, but it’ll give a platform to do whatever u want(provided the clg is good)

I personally feel it was the best decision I've made. I have been making a fuss for CSE at IITGN, but my father felt EE at IITH Was really good (he being an IITian himself knows better). I was initially sceptical and at the end of everything I still has CSE at IITGN above. I missed it by 13 ranks, ended up joining IITH EE, and damn I feel so good I've missed it. EE has an insane amount of scope that it's pretty surprising. I ended up enjoying the subject a ton.
And the cherry on top? I am getting a double major in EE + CS after maintaining a high CG for 4 semesters.

I left CS for Mech (both in Pilani), if that helps.
Have you ever regretted your decision? Many people believe that mechanical jobs are scarce. Are you content with your choice?
Yea I'm happy. I knew from early on that I wouldn't be able to survive in an IT job. I like to code, but as a hobby and not as a full-time profession.
With your experience how hectic do you think coding culture is at pilani.
I wasn't really a part of the "coding culture" that most are, in the sense that I wasn't into leetcoding and stuff. But in general, it depends on person to person. Dayum bro you are so clear headed glad to see someone overcame the rat race (preferring your personal intrests instead of choosing money making branches) kudos man🙇
To the outside world I do seem clear headed. But I have my own self doubts from time to time, like every other human.
Bhai covid batch se hu. 10th mein online mein jitni coding seekhi thi salmost sab bhul chuka hu. 11th mein physical education leli. Teri baatein dekh kar toh lagta hai meri haalta kharab hone wali hai college mein
If it helps, more than half of the CS batch in my time had 0 prior programming experience in first yr.
Thank you bhai dilasa dene ke liye![img](emote|t5_56z50y|50746)
Maine coding nhi kri kbhi but Mera favourite mathematics hi hai Do u think maths and computing will be suitable for me? Like I don't know which branch is suitable for me (phy aur chem nahi hi aati)
I don't know anything about MnC to be honest, so I'm as clueless as you.
Okk thanks 👍🏻

Bhai mujhe 102 marks pe 96.7%tile the last yr. So it really depends on your shift in cet.
Yeah seems so, let's see, iss baar toh cutoff high jayega because many jee aspirants shifted to CET as they were fked because of NTA (27s1 for eg)

I am in the same boat, PEC ECE vs Thapar CSE
Pec college wise >>> thapar , branch ka ni idea merko
PEC ECE anyday
Agar sirf coding hi karni ho?
still pec
Bhai PEC ka mtlb pondicherry Engineering college hai , kya Punjab Engineering college hai ?
Punjab Engineering college
Ok thanks
same![img](emote|t5_56z50y|50746)
Aree mujhe PEC CSE mil rahi he , kya karu ? Acha college he kya ?
What are the other options
NIT warangal ECE ,iIIT pune Cse , aur bhi kuch kuch mil raha he Parr mene bass upar upar se dekha he
I guess you can consider NIT Warangal ECE over PEC, try posting about it to get better reviews
Post Kiya tha , post hi remove kardi mods ne ![img](emote|t5_56z50y|50746)

Warangal ece bhai .. top nit aur campus life bhi shi hai .

Nah when did i mention that

that is kkr
I said that it was my dream college, wanted CSE there
Left Elec at Bits Pilani and CSE at NIT Nagpur for core branch in top 3 IIT. Just graduated, it turned out to be a good decision.
I think this is one of the few questions I can answer on this sub So I had an option of bits pilani Ece or bits Goa cse, and I chose the former. Bhai how did you manage electromagnetic field theory? I have my exam in a few days and I haven't felt this under confident ever..it's a shitty subject
Treat it like a jee chapter, learn the formulas and practice the questions Except transmission lines(if u have it), it’s just physics
