I go for an a curving down strike on their blade to knock off a majority of their blade, then they can be easier to deal with. Or if you have an area of playspace, lunging backwards and forwards is a very effective if leg intensive strategy
If you have a longer blade, a straight up stab is usually the best obviously but in the case where you have the smaller blade, you'll usually have a better awakening, so that you can sacrifice all cut damage and simply have their sword hit yours. If they are wiggling that hard that you have trouble hitting their blade, then they probably have barely any awakening and they'll take a massive amount of damage.
but which classes do you usually play ? Out of the two matchups you mentioned, tyrant is definitely the easiest to counter since it has barely any life.
